I Got A Dog!!!

Yesterday was GROOVY! More than 1,500 people came to hear us sing and – the best part – they gave A LOT of money to the Animal Shelter!

My throat? Much better today.

Reggie? Still limping, but he met 3 girls from Greendale at the concert, so he’s not complaining.

Now for the big news: I adopted a dog!  She is the sweetest thing in the whole wide world! You know, I WAS looking at purebred puppies, because I thought that’s what I wanted. But puppies take TONS of time and work and they pee on the floor, so I kinda gave up on getting a dog.

Then, while we were setting up yesterday morning, I met Cookie. The Animal Shelter Director brought her over to meet me. She is about a year old, so she already knows about going outside. And she’s very sweet, and she’s small. Nobody knows what sort of dog she is, but she doesn’t shed and she will look sooooo cute in the clothes from the Doggie Boutique! Cookie is an orphan. Her owner was very old and passed away, so Cookie had to go to the shelter. I’m so happy I met her!

Last night she slept on the foot of my bed. And she likes to ride in the car. And Gaston and Smithers love her! (That’s good because they’ll be taking care of her when I’m at school.)  I’m going shopping this afternoon for all the things she’ll need. Later this week, I’ll take her to the boutique AND to meet her new vet. We have a very busy week coming up!

Thanks for ALL the doggie advice you shared with me this week!  Keep it coming. I think I’m gonna need it. LOL

I Hope My Weekend Improves

I guess you all heard about Reggie’s knee. At first I thought he was making a big deal out of it just to get attention, but I saw it. It’s swollen. He spent last night sitting on the bench… with ice on it… watching our team get beat. Badly. (That was really hard for him. You could see it on his face.) We were down by 12 at halftime, and just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, it started to rain. Hard.

Bad game + Bad weather = A Bad Time.

I was soaked by the time I got home and when I woke up this morning, I had a sore throat. And we’re singing today!  Gaston made me a thermos filled with hot tea and honey for my throat; he’s very sweet. And as soon as I finish this post, I’m off to meet Jughead.

He and I are going to set up for our concert this afternoon. Reggie will be there too, but he’ll have to sit on a chair and keep his knee elevated so it won’t swell, so he won’t be much help. Archie and Betty are running in a cross country meet this morning. If everything goes okay, they’ll get there this afternoon just in time to sing. Keep your fingers crossed. There is NO margin for error in today’s schedule!

Guess What I Found Today?

A BOUTIQUE FOR DOGS!!!

I’m not talking about a pet aisle in a discount store, or the regular pet store. I’m talking about an exclusive, trendy, pricey little out-of-the-way shop that caters to very special DOGS and their very special people!

It was soooo cute; they carried the sweetest little one-of-a-kind things you’ve ever seen! Like hand knit doggie sweaters, and bright doggie raincoats and even tiny doggie shoes (No heels. I asked.) Oh, and HAIR PRODUCTS! (Makes sense - most dogs have a lot of hair.) And, they had a Gourmet Canine Bakery too, with treats that looked as good as Gaston’s creations!

I had so much fun. I HAVE to get a dog! Especially now that I know it can wear designer clothes just like ME. :)

Make-up Tips

Veronica_2 This fall’s makeup trend is smokey-blue eye shadow. Now girls, when using blue eye shadow, you have to be very careful. If you overdo it you can look like a clown. But if done right it can add an elegant brightness to your look. There are so many shades of blue to choose from, but for this look I’d say stay away from teals and neon blues; those do not fit into the smokey category. And make sure not to go too dark either, then it will look too gray and that can portray a very harsh appearance.
Brush the shadow onto your upper eyelids and a little beneath your bottom eyelashes as well. For the top of your lids, make sure you do not go higher than your lid; that is the clown territory. And for the bottom, you only need a very thin layer or else you could look like a raccoon.
You may want to stop here, or you can add a bit of black mascara, but do not glob it on. The eye shadow adds enough attention to your eyes; you do not need overly layered eyelashes.
This look works especially well on those of you with light eyes; it will accentuate whatever color they are. But that doesn’t mean it won’t look fabulous on those of you with dark eyes! But either way, remember that colored eye shadow, especially if it is dark, can be a very bold statement, so make sure this is something you feel comfortable with.
Good luck!

I’m Impressed

WOW! You guys know A LOT about dogs! Your dogs and puppies sound sooooo sweet; I would LUV to meet them ALL! I have been doing some more reading about dogs. Did you know that many of them can act? Some very big movies have starred dogs. Like:

  • Winn Dixie

  • 101 Dalmations

  • Milo and Otis

  • Babe (I know it’s about a pig, but wasn’t there a dog in it somewhere?)

These are the only dog movies I’ve seen. I would like to see more, so let me know if you have a favorite – but NO sad ones, please! I hate sad movies!

Playing at the Animal Shelter fund raiser this weekend MAY be the most important thing any of us have done all year! I really want to do a good job. We have rehearsal in a little bit at Jughead’s house. He has a big basement and his mom and dad like to hear us play… I think.

Oh, ? for Kulsoom: I’ve never heard of a goldfish Pomeranian. Is that a hairy fish? Or a gold dog? (If it’s a fish, it probably shouldn’t sleep with you and it definitely shouldn’t go for a walk!) Thanks for clearing that up for me :)

I’m heading to band practice, but I’ll read your comments when I get home.

Love,

Ronnie

Know What This Week Is?

You’ll never guess. Okay maybe you already know, so I’ll tell you. It’s National Dog Week! I didn’t know that dogs get the whole last week of September for a holiday, until I talked to the lady at the Riverdale Adopt-A-Pet Animal Shelter. We’re playing at their big fund raiser next weekend. I learned so much neat stuff about dogs! Like:

  • They sweat through their feet.

  • And they should never eat grapes.

  • And some of them don’t shed at all - which is a plus if you have a wardrobe like mine!

This week, I am going to talk about dogs on my blog (maybe not very much because my knowledge of dogs is a bit limited. In fact, the only dog I know even halfway well is Hotdog!) But I love dogs and I want to learn more about them before we play next weekend.

If YOU have a dog, tell me about him/her!  (I think I might talk Daddy into getting me one. :))

Thanks for the New Cheers!

I just have a minute to jot a quick post. I wanted to say THANK YOU for all the new cheers you sent in on last week’s Story Starter!  I “borrowed” a couple of them, taught them to the squad, and we’re going to debut them at tonight’s football game!  I’m soooo excited.

Before that happens though, I have to go pick up Dilton’s birthday cake. I hope he likes it (actually, Gaston helped me choose it). It’s 5 layers of chocolate, with chocolate/raspberry filling between the layers, and it’s decorated with stars. Lot and lots of them. To tell you the truth, I don’t know why… Betty told me to put stars on it, so I am.  I hope Dilton doesn’t think it’s dumb. (Crossing my fingers)

See you later!

Exciting New Trend Alert!

Veronica_3 Exciting new trend alert, ladies! What new trend has got me all amped up? The deco look! If you never heard of this look, don’t worry! You are probably not alone. Not everyone can have great seats at all the hippest fashion shows, like moi. The deco look, or often called art deco, is a combination of that 1920’s flapper style with today’s modern looks. Only the fashion industry can get away with making something both retro and modern. The industry is known for contradicting itself.
Now, how to achieve this look. First off, skirts with LOTS of pleats, that have a kind of accordion type of look to them, are the staple. And stick to right above the knee or lower. Or you can reuse your summer smock dresses with some tights underneath. For the top half of your outfit go with long fitted polo shirts, pleated tops, or cardigans. This look calls mostly for solid colors or patterns that are made up of geometrical shapes, like circles and squares. The velvet trend I had mentioned in an earlier post definitely fits here. Mary Janes, either flat or high heeled, are the perfect shoe for this style, along with a purse with interwoven patterns, or those geometrical shapes. Similarly shaped jewelry, or ones with big gemstones, is a great added touch. And I really suggest wearing a hat for this one. It just completes the look. Rounded fedoras work great, along with fitted cotton caps – but make sure they are not that hippy knitted type. Those can be cute, but they just won’t work here.
Happy shopping!

The Archies Rocked the House!

THAT was Archie’s Big Surprise – he got the BAND back together AND we played last night at the Back-to-School Dance! It was

!!!!FANTABULOUS!!!!

So, you see, that’s the reason none of us went with a date. We all went TOGETHER… in Daddy’s LIMO!

I’m shocked NOBODY guessed what we were up to! I know YOU are preoccupied with school, just like we are. It’s okay. I’ll give you better clues next time we have a surprise. :)

Thearchies You know, Archie was right; we’ve been going in different directions all summer long; we needed to do something AS A GROUP for a change. Playing at the dance gave us that chance. It almost happened a couple of times this summer, but something always went wrong. If you remember, I wrecked my bike during the Tour de Riverdale. Archie tried to get the band together to play at the Fair, but that fizzled.  Then Reggie skipped the Camping/Canoe Trip to find an agent. But last night it all came together!

Archie’s vocals were THE BEST; he’s never sounded better. I impressed the entire school with a new keyboard Daddy bought me (it sounds incredible) Jughead did a LONG drum solo that brought the house down. Betty sang PERFECT harmonies (I had forgotten how good she really is.) And Reggieyou won’t believe this, but Reggie was an absolute DOLL. He made ALL of us look and sound GREAT!

So much happened, I can’t fit it all in this one post. (Posts are supposed to be short, right? Not novels length!) I’ll share details this week.  All you need to know today is this –

Archie, Reggie, Jughead and Bets are my BFsF – and I love each one of them!

Origami: Not My Gift

I don’t know why I ever thought that I - Veronica Lodge - could make origami birds, but I did. And you know what? It was a DISASTER! Honestly. We worked on those birds for 5 whole hours Tuesday night and AGAIN in study hall yesterday. All the other cheerleaders managed to make cute little birds with their paper. Mine?  Let’s just say that I’ve seen more artistic, bird-like trash in Miss Grundy’s waste basket!

I ended up manning the paper shredder, with the no-brainer job of making colored confetti. Nancy said it was important, but I know better. I am just NOT a crafty person. Never have been. Now, BettySHE’s a crafting genius! Give her some mud and an old popsicle stick and she’d make a 2-story doll house out of it – WITH drapes and hardwood floors!

I have talents in OTHER areas – like shopping – and I’m okay with that, I guess. I mean, if we all had the same gifts, the world would be really BORING! Right?  (Between you and me, I wish I could figure out how to make one of those birds. They were sooooo sweet!)

Fall Fashion Frenzy

Veronica_2 For all you girls who aren’t into the blazer trend, pay attention! This fall season spice up your wardrobe with a great new alternative to the classic sweater, light fall coat, or blazer: a cape! No, not the kind that all those super heroes tie around their necks before they go save the day. These stylish top layers button or hook in the front and come in a variety of fabulous fabrics. They can be thrown over any outfit to give it that classy, sophisticated look. It may be a bit much to just go hang out with your friends, but if you are anything like me, even just hanging out with the girls provides a reason to flaunt your impeccable fashion collection. Surf some fashion sites on the web to get a better idea of what I am talking about.
Velvet is also hot this season. You can wear it in bold or dark colors. Just know, if you are fair skinned and decide to go for the darker velvets, you may end up looking Goth, so unless that’s the look you’re going for, stick to more cheerful colors. Long velvet tops or velvet dresses look fabulous with a pair of dark non-opaque tights and sleek black boots. Not to mention that velvet feels awesome on your skin! This is one look where comfort and style collide.

Countdown To FUN!

So much planning to do… so little time! That’s what’s going on with me this week. I have so much to do to get ready for the Back-to-School dance, I told my teachers they can forget about giving me homework. That’s just NOT gonna happen!  I think Professor Flutesnoot thought I was kidding, so I asked Miss Grundy to talk to him; she’s the faculty sponsor for this event.

Gaston “volunteered” to help with refreshments.  (Jughead is thrilled.)

And WE (the varsity cheerleaders) are still working on decorations. I’m sorry to say they’re nothing spectacular, but then there really is no easy (translation: cheap) way to magically transform our high school gym. No matter what you do, it’s still a gym. So, while I WANTED giant ice sculptures in the shape of swans, I’m settling for paper decorations made by amateurs (the cheerleaders again) Oh well…

Besides, once the entertainment starts, nobody will care anyway.

Gotta go now. We’re all meeting at Nancy’s to make origami birds for the tables. I’ve never tried to make origami anything, so I hope mine turn out.  Wish me luck!

It Was The Puppy Dog Eyes

Yeah, I know, I sounded tough on Friday, but my gosh, it’s ARCHIE we’re talking about! Gee, I was only mad at him ONE week – I must be going soft.  Or maybe it was Betty; she told me she read somewhere that holding a grudge can make you ugly.  She was very convincing. That worried me. Anyway, Archie called me a while ago and we worked it all out.

He wanted to know if I was going to the dance with Reggie, but I told him I am going stag. Betty’s idea. I thought it was a good one, so I’m not going with a date either. I think he’s going stag, too.

So, to sum up: Nobody’s mad any more. Archie is happy again. Reggie is Reggie. Betty is perky. Jughead is eating a lot and running from Ethel. And we’re all going stag to the dance.

Things are back to normal in Riverdale.

She Let Him Off Too Easy

That’s what I think. I’m talking, of course, about Betty and Archie. She talked to him today at school and – POOF! - all’s forgiven. Well, she can let him off the hook if she wants to, but I’m not going to. I don’t care if he HAS been moping about the halls all week with those big sad puppy dog eyes. They won’t work on me! (BTW, this is EXACTLY why I won’t let Betty volunteer at the animal shelter – she’d take them all home!)

You guys are with me on this, right? After all, he shoved ME into the pool!

Think Pink

Veronica_1 All right all you girly girls, it looks like fall is your season. Pink is so in this year, and the brighter the better. You can use it just in your accessories to add some color, or you can be bold and make it the main color of your outfit. And I am talking full out, as in pink dresses and all. And if you are going to mix and match, black and pink are perfect compliments.
If there is one type of shoe you must own this fall, it is a lace-up bootie! This style is all over the runways and in all the hip magazines. They come in heel or wedge styles, patent leather, plain leather, metallics, or suede, and so many colors! I have a pair to match every outfit, but you know me, I can never have too many shoes. What’s my personal fav, you ask? Well, I just picked up a pair of navy blue patent leather ones that are absolutely out-of-this-world! Cutesy and classy, just like me!

What’s Wrong With Them?

Dear Bloggy-friends,

The NEXT time I decide to throw a pool party, remind me NOT to invite Archie and Reggie! They RUINED my party 30 seconds after they arrived!

What happened?  Okay, I’ll calm down and start from the beginning…

Everything was PERFECT - The decorations (I took your advice and went tropical)… my clothes… the music… Gaston’s cooking… and ALL my friends were there EXCEPT Archie and Reggie for obvious reasons – Reggie wanted to be fashionably late so he could make a splashy entrance in his new car. And Archie? Well, he’s just Archie. ‘Nuff said.

Smithers told me later that it all started in the driveway. Archie arrived first; Reggie pulled in behind him and passed him IN THE LAWN so he could get the last parking spot closest to the house! Can you believe that?

So, Archie hurried and parked and started walking real fast up the drive. Reggie got out of his car, saw Archie hurrying to the front door, so HE started walking real fast, too. Smithers said that by they time they reached the front door, they were jogging. They nearly knocked poor Smithers down as they shoved each other through the door! Then Archie started running THROUGH THE HOUSE towards the patio, and Reggie JUMPED over the couch to catch up! By the time they reached us on the patio, they were running and shoving each other.

Then Archie yelled, “Hey, Veronica, I wanna ask you something!”

Then Reggie said, “Oh, no you don’t, Carrot Top! I’m asking her to the dance!” And he TRIPPED Archie, and Archie lost his balance and ran straight into ME and shoved me INTO THE POOL! Of course, he fell in too, and started splashing around like a big clumsy dog!

Betty fished me out. What a way to end my summer! Needless to say I will NOT be going to ANY dance with either one of them!  School starts Wednesday… and they’d better not even TRY to speak to me in the hall!

Week 12 Story Contest Winner

by Coach Clayton

Hello To All

Coachclayton_2 Coach Clayton Here.

I would like to thank all the contestants for their stories.  They were purely my pleasure to read.  Picking the best story was a tad harder then coming back in the 4th quarter when you’re down by 50 - though with guys like Moose and Reggie we've been able to pull that off.

Each story was good enough to win, so I had I go with elements that I personally enjoyed... Thus Troy W was my pick.  I just found it very funny that Jug got his in the end.  To any of you who think Jughead gets away with a bit more then he should, I encourage you to read this very funny tale.   (Click on the Hall of Fame button!)
