Turned me down COLD as a matter of fact. Oh, she gave me some long explanation about running and priorities and college. I missed most of it. The point is, we REALLY wanted Bets to be a Varsity Cheerleader this year, and she said NO.
The rest of the squad was COUNTING on me to talk her into it, too! I’m bummed. I think I’ll lie down.

P.S. There is one bright spot to report. Reggie got THE MOST fabulous new car! He’s been driving it all over town! Smithers said he’s been by my house at least 11 times! (After that he stopped counting. LOL) I guess I’d better call and congratulate him. :)

That’s what I told Ronnie yesterday when she asked me to join the Varsity Cheerleading squad. She just looked at me then she said, “So, what does that mean?”
See, this is the deal: I LOVE cheerleading. I’ve done it before, you know. But I also love to RUN and I’m really good – good enough to get a scholarship if I have a good season in cross country. So, it’s not that I DON’T like cheerleading – I just want to run MORE and I really don’t have the time or the energy to do them both well.
Does that make sense? I sure hope so. If you understood what I just said, you might try explaining it to Ron. She just gave me that blank Ronnie look when I explained it to her.

Man Ron! I know how you feel! SOmetimes you want this extra special friend to join a club or whatever in school with you thinking it would be more fun with them but the all of a sudden you hear "No!" and it's like all depressing but Betty may want to try new things. But I'm sure that MAYBE if you give her time...she MAY decide to become a cheerleader. Give it a week MAYBE!
