I
worked really hard on this one. I think you’ll like it AND there
are tons of story possibilities! Here goes:
Ethel At The Wheel
You all know Ethel. Well, she was having a little trouble driving. She’s a pretty good driver, she just gets scared easily and when that happens… well, she heads for the nearest ditch.

So, Bets and I decided to give her some driving pointers to boost her confidence. No way were we using MY new car, and Daddy’s limo is too big. And Betty drives a stick, Sooooo, we used Archie’s car. Oops!
So, you tell me… How did our driving adventure with Ethel go?
Have fun!
Love,
Ronnie

It was a beautiful day, perfect for eating burgers at Pop Tate’s. Betty and Veronica went to Pop Tate’s for some ice cream. Then Betty heard someone crying, she found out it was Ethel.
“Ethel, what wrong?” asked Betty.
“I… I feel so scared whenever I’m behind the wheels even through I am a very good driver,” sobbed Ethel.
“Hmm, maybe I and Ron will give you some pointers so you can feel a lot more confidence! Said Betty.
“THANK YOU,” yelled Ethel.
“But who’s car shall we take?” said Veronica.
“ARCHIE’S!” yelled Betty.
“Good idea but how do we get it?” said Ethel.
“Leave to me,” said Veronica.
Veronica left Pop’s to find Archie and in luck she came back in 20 minutes with Archie’s car.
“Climb in, I’ll be in the backseat,” said Veronica happily.
Ethel and Betty climbed in the car and Ethel started biting her nails. She began to shake.
“Ethel, why are you biting your nails and shaking?” asked Veronica.
“It’s because I’m afraid to get in a car accident. My beloved uncle died in car accident a few weeks ago,” cried Ethel.
“That’s okay Ethel, I’m sorry about your uncle. Losing your beloved one is hard but your uncle will always be in your heart,” said Betty.
“You know what? I feel a lot better! Let’s roll!” said Ethel.
Just like that, Ethel’s confidence boosted up. After a few minutes, Ethel accidentally drove into a tree. Ethel started to shake and cry. Betty and Veronica started to get worry. This wasn’t their car and they damaged poor Archie’s car. Betty began to take a look at Archie’s car. There was no dent on the car. Betty, Veronica and Ethel were very relief! But the motor was damaged a little. Good thing Betty was there because she was a pro at car fixing. Soon, she finish fixing Archie’s car
“THANK YOU BETTY! Without you, I would never face Archie in my life again!” said Ethel.
“You’re very welcome,” said Betty.
“Lets go back to Pop’s for some soda, it’s on me!” said Ron.
When they got to Pop’s, they found Archie sitting on the stool. Veronica gave back his keys and kissed him for letting Ethel use his car.
“How was the ride Ethel?” asked Archie.
“Good but I sort of hit a tree and the motor stopped working but Betty fixed the motor just like that. I hope you’re not mad at me. Betty deserve a date with you for fixing car,” said Ethel.
“Thank you for fixing it Betty and also I will take you on a date. How about tonight?” asked Archie.
“GREAT!” yelled out Betty.
For once, Veronica didn’t get jealous because she thought Betty deserved the date. After that, Ethel started to drive back to normal. Her uncle stayed in her heart forever.

Try to guess!!
Well, we set out to help Ethel on Saturday morning. We decided to drive around the neighborhood so she could get the hang of it. Ethel was terrible, so far she had run into a mailbox, backed-up into a lawn ornament, and accidently honked the horn 10 times realy meaning to turn on the blinker! I said to Betty "I'm going to bail Betty before this girl kills us!" and Betty whispered back "Ron, give her a chance half of this disaster is due to Archies hunk of scrap metal she's driving". So i sat back and held on tight.(but meanwhile walking on the sidewalk a few yards away Sabrina is thinking up a plan) "I feel so sorry for Ethel, She isn't great at anything. She didnt make cheerleading, Betty beats her by a mile in grades, and she still is chasing Jughead! I could'nt make Ethel permenantly good at driving because that goes agianst the rules. But I could tweak Archies car for a few hours then when their done i can just zap it back to its normal self." So while Ethel clunks past Sabrina she casts her spell. "Witches near and witches far, hear my plea about Archies car! When Ethel drives it let it be cool and clever. So that Ethel thinks shes the best driver EVER!!!" (all of the sudden Ethel starts to drive great.) Rons been sleeping in the back of the car when she sits straight up. "Have we stopped! Because I know if Ethel was driving the ride wouldn't be this smooth" Betty answers in amazement. "No Ron we haven't stopped. Ethel is driving great! She hasn't hit anything and the car has stopped sputtering!" Ethel looks back and announces "Thanks to you too I'm now ready for my drivers test! Lets hurry home!" Ethel steps on the gas and speeds away before Sabrina can cancel the spell "Oh no! I just wanted to make her feel special for a few hours then take it off. What am I going to do now, Ethels driving test is tomorrow...GOOD GRIEF!!!" Sabrina heads home to figure out a plan.
TOMORROW...
Ethel is talking to veronica and betty "Ya'll are the greatest I'm so confident thanks to you." Betty hugs her and says "We're here to support you thats why the rest of the gang is here." Everyone cheers for Ethel behind her when Sabrina walks up "I'll have to put this love spell on Archie so he'll definitely let Ethel borrow his car. But when i zap him back he won't remember anything. After the test I'll have to teach Ethel myself because I started the whole mess!" Sabrina tugs her ear and says the spell "witches this spell needs a cure so have Archie like Ethel and lend his car to her. But when Ethel is through with her test let Archie forget all this mess!" All of the sudden Archie starts kissing Ethels arm and has hearts in his eyes. He romantically says "Oh, Ethel I would be honored if you would drive my car in the test!". Ethel is shocked and manages to make out the word ok before shes dragged off to the car by Proffesor Flootsnoot. Ethel finishes the test and runs up to the gang and cries "I PASSED!!!!." Everyone cheers except Ronnie and Betty. They stomp up to Archie and yell "So, now we know who you realllyyyy love!" Archie looks confused and asks who. The two girls yell unanimously "ETHEL!!!". "What are you two talking about I dont like Ethel." Ron yells "Oh yea, well ask her yourself" she points to Ethel who is running their way "Oh, Archie I'm sooo flattered...but...I'm sorry my heart belongs to my Juggie!!" She runs off and is heard in the distance yelling "Come back here Honeypie!!!" and Jughead screams "Archie, you owe me one!" Archie turns back to the girls and says "See (hehe) everyone gets what they want...you two get me, I get you two, and Ethel get Jug and now she can drive!" Ron sweetly says to Archie "Your right Archiekins, but theres one problem for you". "What is that lambkins?" "Now...you'll have to run!" "WHAT??" Betty and Veronica start hitting Archie with their purses and chasing him away. Professor Flootsnoot is exausted and says"These kids will drive you up the wall!!"

Ethel At The Wheel
By: Archie A
Betty had woken up from a tremendous sound outside. She rubbed her eyes and moaned quietly. Then she quickly pulled her pillow over her ears. THUMP! Betty jumped out of bed in shock to see what was causing the enormous noise. She got out of bed and put on her comfy, fluffy slippers. Then she walked towards the window in her room and took a peek outside. “Ethel!” Betty gasped. Betty immediately ran outside, with her pajamas still on, and she stopped to take a breath. There were black streak marks on the street caused by Ethel’s car, and she had also driven into Betty’s mailbox. Ethel’s car was dented and was badly damaged. “Ethel, what happened!” Betty asked in a shocked voice.
“I got a new car! Do you like it?” Ethel asked excitedly.
“I wouldn’t say that it was new anymore!” Betty giggled.
“Sorry for waking you up, Betty…and driving into your mailbox!” Ethel apologized.
“One question, Ethel, umm, what caused you to drive into my mailbox?” Betty hesitated to ask.
“Well,” Ethel started, “I was driving down this street and I saw a bird fly pass my window.”
“And then?” Betty asked.
“That’s all,” Ethel replied.
“So, the bird caused you to drive into my mailbox, that’s what you’re saying, right?” Betty asked.
“Yup! I got scared. So, I turned the wheel and I crashed! Funny, isn’t it?” Ethel laughed.
“Yes, funny, hahaha….“ Betty said pretending to laugh.
“And, well, er, maybe Veronica and I can teach you how to drive!” Betty continued.
“Really? Wow, thanks, Betty!” Ethel said in a joyful voice. “But, let me fix my car first.”
“I’ll fix it for you, Ethel, but let me changed into my other clothes,” Betty said cheerfully.
“Sure! I’ll just wait for you! And thanks again!” Ethel said in a loud voice.
Betty ran to her room as fast as she could and she closed the door. “Betty! What have you done!” Betty whispered to herself. “Is it possible to teach Ethel how to drive? I hope everything will be alright,” Betty continued on. She pulled down her green shirt and put on her blue-jeans. Then she walked outside, but she couldn’t see Ethel anywhere in her sight. “Ethel!” Betty yelled trying to find her. “ETHEL! WHERE ARE YOU?!”
“Hi! Betty!” Ethel smiled. Ethel came out from under the car with some oil splashed on her face.
“Ethel! What are you up to now?” Betty asked.
“Just fixing the car! See!” Ethel replied.
“Yes, I can see that you’re doing that, but I’ll do it for you,” Betty laughed softly. Betty got her tools out of the garage and she began to work on Ethel’s car.
“Okay, Ethel, I’m all done!” Betty said.
“Gee, thanks Betty!” Ethel said hugging Betty.
“Your Welcome,” Betty replied nicely. “I’ll teach you how to drive now.”
“Oh, goody! Let’s drive your car!” Ethel jumped.
“Um, I don’t think that’s a good idea. Let me ask Veronica if you can drive her car.” Betty said immediately.
“Veronica’s car! That’s even better!” Ethel said in excitement.
Ethel went into Betty’s car, and Betty began to drive to Veronica’s house. She passed by Pop Tate’s and Ethel saw Jughead eating a burger by the window.
“Oh! Stop by Pop Tate’s, Betty! I want to see Jughead!” Ethel yelled all of a sudden.
“Ethel, don’t do that, you almost scared me to death!” Betty gasped. “We have to go to Veronica’s house first.”
“Oh, alright.” Ethel sighed. Betty and Ethel arrived to Veronica’s house (or you would describe it as a mansion, of course) and they both walked to the enormous front door.
Betty pushed the door-bell. RING! RING! Then Ethel knocked on Veronica’s door vigorously. “Hey, Veronica! YOU THERE!” Ethel yelled. Betty and Ethel waited outside and they could both here Veronica yelling, “Smithers! Get the door!”
“I guess Veronica is here!” Ethel said. They both laughed. The door opened and Veronica said, “Hi, Betty! Hello, Ethel! What brings you to here?”
Betty replied and said, “Well, I wanted to ask-----”
“First come in,” Veronica said.
“Oh, okay,” They both replied. They both entered Veronica’s mansion and Veronica asked, “So, you were saying?”
“Well,” Betty continued. “I just wanted to ask you if you and I could teach Ethel how to drive.”
“Oh, sure! Let’s go drive you car,” Veronica said.
“I was also going to say if we could drive one of your cars!” Betty asked.
“My car?! Oh, Betty, you’re so silly. Seriously, what was your other question,” Veronica laughed.
“That was my other question,” Betty said.
“What!? You mean, you really meant it! Betty, my cars are too special to drive. I’m special, so, I get to drive them. But, I don’t want them to get damaged!” Veronica said in a slightly angry voice.
“I won’t damage your cars!” Trust me!” Ethel said to calm Veronica down.
“I’m sorry, Ethel, but you guys can not drive my car,” Veronica said in a stubborn voice.
“Then, I’ll drive the limo!” Ethel suggested.
“You can’t drive that one either!” Veronica rejected as she crossed her arms. There was a pause in the room for a couple seconds and then Betty said, “Well, who’s car ARE we going to drive then?”
“Hmmmmmm…..” Veronica and Betty hmmmed. (just kidding, hahah….. --said--)
“ARCHIE’S CAR!” They both blurted out. Betty and Veronica grabbed Ethel’s arm and they all jumped into Betty’s car and drove to Archie’s house. Veronica fixed her makeup and Ethel waited to be taught how to drive. They arrived to Archie’s house and Betty and Veronica jumped out quickly. “Wait for me guys!” Ethel shouted. Ethel caught up with the two and Veronica knocked on Archie’s front door.
“Hello, Betty. Hello, Veronica. Hello, Ethel,” Mrs. Andrews said.
Betty smiled and said, “We’re here to see----”
“Let me guess, Archie?” Mrs. Andrews laughed.
“Yes, -giggle-, can we go see him?” Betty asked.
“Sure, go ahead,” Mrs. Andrews replied.
They all walked towards the stairs leading to Archie’s room. “I’m going to see Archie first!” Veronica snarled.
“Not if I could help it!” Betty said and ran. THUMP! BOOM! BUMP! Archie fell and rolled down the stairs. “Oh, hi girls!” Archie said.
“Are you alright, Archie!” The three girls gasped.
“Yeah,” Archie groaned. Archie stood up and adjusted his shirt. “So, what’s up?” Archie asked.
“Can we use your car? Please?” Betty asked.
“Sure! But what for?” Archie asked.
“To teach me how to drive better! Ethel said.
“Oh, well, uhhhh,” Archie mumbled.
“Please, Archiekins?” Veronica whined.
“Okay, but be VERY careful,” Archie included.
“We promise!” Ethel said.
They ran to Archie’s car and they all jumped in.
“Wait! Here are the keys to my car!” Archie shouted.
“Thanks!” Ethel said.
The garage door opened and Ethel started the car. She drove the car onto the streets and Betty said, “Before you turn, look both ways to see if there are other cars, got it?”
“Got it!” Ethel replied. Ethel looked both ways and she saw no cars in her sight. Then she drove onto the streets. “ETHEL! WAIT!” Veronica shrieked. Ethel stopped the car and another car drove passed by and honked. “Watch it!” Reggie yelled. Reggie backed up his car after he saw Veronica. “Hey, Veronica,” Reggie said.
“Hello, Reggie. Next time, watch where you‘re driving!” Veronica sighed. (but not in a good way)
“Wow! You look beautiful!” Reggie smiled.
“Why, thank you Reggie!” Veronica giggled.
“Oh, sorry, Veronica. I was looking in the mirror!” Reggie said.
“Hmmph!” Veronica grumbled.
“So, what are you girls up to?” Reggie asked.
“We’re giving Ethel driving tips,” Betty answered.
“Can I give her tips too?” Reggie asked.
“First, let me tell her a tip,” Betty said.
“Sure,” Reggie replied.
“First, Ethel, don’t let any monkeys in your car, promise?” Betty said.
“Er, okay…Betty, got it,” Ethel said in a confused voice.
Reggie jumped into the back seat.
“Now, Ethel! I thought you promised not to let any monkeys in your car!” Betty giggled.
Everyone laughed but Reggie.
“Ha! Ha! Very Funny,” Reggie said sarcastically.
“Reggie, your big mouth is too big to fit into this car!” Veronica laughed. “Move over!”
“Sheesh! Fine!” Reggie grumbled.
“Okay, Ethel, start driving!” Betty insisted.
Ethel drove around the corner and the green-light turned yellow.
“Okay, Ethel. See the yellow light?” Betty asked looking at Ethel.
“Yeah!” Ethel replied.
“Well, on a yellow light, you can either go or stop, but I think it’s better to stop. If there are no cars around, then it’s better to go then stop,” Betty said.
“That yellow light looks like the color of Archie’s teeth! YUK! YUK!” Reggie laughed.
“Reggie, for your information, Archie’s teeth is spit-spot clean. Don’t mistake your teeth for Archie’s,” Veronica said.
“Hahahahaha!” Betty laughed.
“You guys are even meaner than me!” Reggie said. “Well, of course you are, you guys are girls.”
“Reggie, get out of this car!” Veronica yelled.
“I can’t, Ethel’s still driving!” Reggie shouted.
“Whatever. Anyway, Ethel. What street is this?” Betty asked.
“Ummm, I think it’s Maple Street,” Ethel replied.
“Okay. Anyway, turn right here. When there’s a car in front of you, don’t drive too close to it,” Betty explained.
“Got it!” Ethel said.
Veronica began to talk, “But the most important thing is to wear your seat-belt! It can save your life!”
“Exactly!” Betty included.
Betty looked at Ethel and said, “Another important thing is to not get too scared easily, Ethel. Don’t worry too much, that raises your chances of getting in an accident.”
“Okay, I’ll try,” Ethel said.
“To make sure you don’t get scared,” Reggie continued, “Don’t look at Veronica without her makeup on!”
“ETHEL! PARK THE CAR PLEASE!” Veronica shouted. Ethel drove by the sidewalk and Veronica pushed Reggie out.
“So long Reggie!” Veronica shouted. “Oh, and by the way, my gum is stuck on your hair!”
Reggie gasped. Ethel drove away quickly and Veronica thanked Ethel for parking well.
Reggie was so angry, and of course, he was thinking about a prank. Not for Veronica, but Archie. Veronica and Betty continued giving Ethel tips, and she only got scared a little bit. A squirrel ran by and Ethel gasped and crashed Archie’s car into a tree. SCREECH! THUMP! “Oh, no!” Betty gasped.
“Darn it! We promised not to damage Archie’s car!” Ethel cried.
“We? You promised not to damage his car!” Veronica shouted.
“Did not!” Ethel shouted back.
“Did TOO!” Veronica screamed.
As the three girls were arguing, Reggie came up with his plan/prank. He saw Jughead walking out of Pop Tate’s and ran to him!
“Jughead! I’m so sorry about what happened!“ Reggie shouted pretending to be shocked.
“What?” Jughead asked.
“You mean, Archie didn’t tell you?” Reggie gasped.
“Tell me what?” Jughead asked again.
“Maybe it’s better if I don’t tell you the news at all, I don’t want you to get sad that Archie doesn’t want to be your best pal anymore, WHOOPS! Did I say that out loud?” Reggie said.
“What! But, I’ve been his best friend for years!” Jughead cried.
“Cheer up, pal! You can still be his friend and talk to him,” Reggie snickered.
“No! I’m going HOME! Jughead shouted. Jughead walked down the side-walk angrily. “Reggie Mantle, you did it again!” Reggie snickered. “Hahahaha!” Betty, Veronica, and Ethel, walked to Archie’s house and apologized to Archie.
“What! You mean that’s my car!” Archie gasped. “That wrecked thing!”
“Er, yes…” Veronica said.
“But, I thought you said it wouldn’t get damaged,” Archie said.
“Well, we thought it wouldn’t, heh, heh,” Ethel said.
“I’m so sorry, Archie, it won’t happen again!” Betty said.
“I know it won’t happen again, because you girls can’t drive my car anymore!” Archie scolded them.
“We’re really sorry!” The three girls cried.
“Okay, okay, but next time, don’t let this happen again,” Archie said. “This isn’t the worst thing that happened to my car!”
“Thanks Archie,” They all replied. Archie sighed and walked to his room.
DING DONG!
Archie opened the door. “Hi, Jughead! I got a new game, you wanna’ play it?”
“No! Why would I want to hang out with you?!” Jughead shouted.
“Gee, Jughead! Take it easy!” Archie gasped. “What’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong? Everything! You said that you didn’t want to be my best pal anymore!” Jughead shouted.
“What are you talking about? I didn’t say that!” Archie replied.
“Well, Reggie told me everything!” Jughead said talking back to Archie.
“REGGIE! Jughead, Reggie’s lying! I didn’t say that, seriously! Give me one good reason of why I wouldn’t want to be your friend,” Archie asked.
“Hmmm, because….gee…I don’t know,” Jughead said.
“Jughead, Reggie tricked you!” Archie explained.
“I should have known!” Jughead said.
“Well, let’s go give him a taste of his own medicine!” Archie replied. Archie and Jughead saw Reggie coming to his house, so they hid behind a tree. When Reggie walked up to Archie’s front door to ring the door bell, Archie and Jughead ran to Reggie’s house.
“That was close!” Archie said.
“Phew! Yeah, I know,” Jughead replied.
They rang Reggie’s door bell and Reggie’s mom answered.
“Hello, Archie and Jughead,” Mrs. Mantle said.
“Hi, umm, Reggie called us here to look at his car,” Archie said.
“I’m sorry, boys, but Reggie isn’t here right now.” Mrs. Andrews said.
“I know, but can we just look at it?” Archie and Jughead said.
“Alright, go ahead,” Mrs. Andrews replied.
Archie and Jughead ran into the garage to see Reggie’s car.
“Wow! What a car!” Archie gasped.
“I don’t get what’s so amazing about a car,” Jugehead said.
“Okay, let’s focus. Bring in the paint!” Archie said.
Jughead ran in the garage with buckets of paint and they began to paint Reggie’s car.
“Reggie’s going to be so shocked to see this!” Jughead said. “I hate this color so I think that Reggie would hate it too!”
They laughed for a moment. Archie and Jughead were done painting his car.
“Okay, let’s hit it!” Archie said.
“Okay,” Jughead said. Jughead hit Reggie’s car with his hand.
“That’s not what I meant, Jughead, I mean let’s get out of here!” Archie explained.
“Why didn’t you say so?” Jughead asked.
They ran out of the garage. Archie ran to his room with Jughead and they both played Archie’s video-games.
Reggie was in his room filled with his own pictures. Reggie’s cell-phone rang and he answered.
“Hey, Veronica!” Reggie said.
“Hello, Reggie, I’m here to pick up my car!” Veronica said.
“Oh, okay, I parked it IN THE GARAGE,” Reggie replied.
“Okay, I’ll be right over!” Veronica said. “One more question, it’s not damaged, right?”
“Nope,” Reggie answered.
“Scratched?” Veronica asked.
“Nope, it’s as clean as a whistle!” Reggie said.
“Okay, see you soon!” Veronica said and hung up.
Archie and Jughead went to Reggie’s house to see what his expression would be.
“I bet he’ll cry like a baby!” Archie laughed.
“He’ll probably scream till his ears pop!” Jughead laughed.
Veronica drove by and Archie said, “Hey, look! It’s Veronica!”
“I wonder what she came for,” Jughead said.
Archie and Jughead ran to Veronica.
“Hi, Veronica!” Archie shouted.
“Hello, Archiekins,” Veronica said.
“I’ll wait for you right here,” Archie replied.
“Okay,” Veronica said.
Veronica rang Reggie’s door-bell and Reggie said, “Hey, Veronica!” Reggie opened up the garage door and said, “Here’s you sweet car!”
Archie and Jughead gasped.
“OH NO! WE PAINTED VERONICA’S CAR!” They whispered in shock.
Veronica screamed.
“Reggie! I knew you would do this!” Veronica yelled. Veronica’s car was painted pink and had black polka-dots ALL over it.
“I didn’t do that!” Reggie gasped.
“Reggie, I’ll get you for this!” Veronica growled. Veronica drove off onto the streets. Betty and Ethel drove by and Betty was still giving Ethel driving tips. Ethel was driving Betty’s car. Ethel was driving next to Veronica’s car and Ethel gasped.
Ethel was staring at Veronica’s car and Betty said, “Ethel, another tip is always pay attention to the road!”
“Sorry, Betty!” Ethel said. “But that car looks weird!”
“I know, but keep your eyes on the road!” Betty said.
Ethel kept driving Betty’s car and then Betty saw Ethel looking at the sky.
“Ethel! You have to keep your eyes on the road!” Betty said.
“I know, but somebody’s writing something in the sky with there plane!” Ethel said.
“Ooh! Wow! What does it say,” Betty asked in excitement.
Ethel laughed and then she looked at the road and kept on driving.
“What’s so funny, Ethel?” Betty asked.
Then Ethel laughed and said, “The person in the sky wrote: KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD!”

*Ethel at the Wheel*
by Jackie L
"ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Archie screamed at Ronnie, then slammed the door.
"Ohhh, Archiekins?"
He immediately opened the door.
"Yes, love of my life?"
"Please?" Veronica did her most pouty, yet cute look.
"How 'bout we strike a deal." Archie told her.
"I'm listening."
"So, you use my car if I can use your car to take you to the dance."
"OK! Thanks, Archiekins!"
"Sure, Ronnie!" It was then, terror struck against his freckled face. He had seen Ethel drive. She would smash his car into the lake, pull it out, and drive it straight into a ditch.
"WAIT, RONNIE!" He screamed as if a thousand killer bees and a half dozen moose were after him. But it was done in ignorance. Ronnie was already in her Lamburgini, driving off, her head whipping and lashing silky, shining raven strands of hair in the breeze.
"Betty, dear, it worked like a charm." Her cheeks matched her scarlet red lips, she had laughed so much.
"YES! I'll call Ethel!" On the word "Yes" she had pumped her fist into the air as if she had won a Championship Basketball game, and upon "I'll call Ethel" she had whipped out her pink Razr. "Hello, Ethel? He bought it!" She held out the phone from her ear because of the shouts of joy coming from the phone. "Yes, yes, Ethel, we'll start tomorrow. One 'o clock. Uh-huh. Gotcha. See you there!"
The next day at 2 pm sharp, they started-- Ron insisted that Ethel AND Betty had to look good on the road, and thus, did everyone's makeup.
"Now we can start!" She said.
So, they began. Ethel first, somehow was wedged in between two cars in a parking lot. Then, she kept going back and forth, hither and thither, ramming and slamming until Betty got out and pushed it the other way around.
"Great hair monkeys of fire! Betty, you are, like, super strong!" Ronnie told Bets.
"Ummm, thanks... I think. So they were off into the exciting & riveting drive of going down Inviteframe Avenue. I know, I know, it sounds bad, but Ethel's driving made it even worse.
"Ethel! Speed up! You're gonna get a ticket for driving too slow!" Betty told her.
"Oh." Ethel said. She sped up, ran a stopsign, and then Ron said:
"Ethel! Slow down! You're gonna get a ticket for driving too fast!!!"
"Make up your mind!" Ethel grumbled. "Slow or fast?"
"TRY DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT!" Bets and Ronnie said unanimously.
"Fine."
So, she drove the speed limit. But then they encountered another problem. Ethel jerked from one side of the road to another. By this time, they had received 43 honks and 12 yells to "Cut it out!" and that "My mother-in-law drives better than you!" and of course; "I've got to get to work! So drive a straight line for once, Zigzag!" But Ethel was determined.
"I'll be good at driving if it's the last thing I do!" She said. Betty gave Ron a look. Veronica gave Bets a look. The look said "OH NO! We'll be here forever!" Suddenly Ethel began to drive straight.
"ETHEL! What did you do?" Ronnie said.
"I dunno! I just hit the dashboard and it started driving smoothly."
"SO... it was the car!" Yes, it was the car. Ethel's car was in desperate need of some TLC, just like Archie's so, it was the car, that is, except for the speed problem, which Ethel got over. So, I guess the moral is: The car is always at fault. No, no, that isn't right. More like: If at first you aren't successful, look first at what it is that you aren't successful at! Yeah, that's more like it!

" Phone for you, Miss Veronica," Smithers called. I sighed. I mean, I don't get to have a proffesional manicure/ pedicure treatment every day.
Oh,wait. I do.
Whatever, I still don't like being inturrupted during it.
"Hello?"
"Ron, it's Ethel. I was just wondering if you could help me out with something."
"Sure, Ethel. What?"I said. Ethel was always so sweet, I just had to help her.
TO BE CONTINUED
It was a beautiful Saturday morning and ron and i decided to go to pops. When we got there we saw Ethel. She was shaking and had a nervous look on her face.
"Whats Wrong Ethel?" I asked
"Oh Betty! Its awful! I just got my drivers license a few months ago and was hoping to drive all kinds of places and have fun! But when i got in the car to drive i got all nervous and twitchy and thats how i am every time a drive now! I don't know whats wrong with me! I guess i'm scared i'll get in a car accident or something. I mean, i have read several stories about people getting in awful car accidents!" Said Ethel
"Ethel! You have GOT to calm down! and you have to get over this whole shaky/twitchy thing before it gets worse! I've got an idea! Why don't Betty and i Take you driving and maybe give you a few tips to help you relax while you drive!" Siad Ron
"Sounds great! But what car should we take? Ours is in the shop for repare" Said Ethel
"And we CAN'T use my limo! It just got waxed!" said Ron
"Sorry guys but my folks are gone for the day and we don't have a car available! I know! Why don't we take Archies?" I said
"Perfect! Lets go get it!" Siad Ron
After we got the car we went driving and as soon as ethel got behind the wheel she was shaking and twitching! We tried to calm her down by saying "everything is safe" and "Calm down Ethel!" But nothing worked! Finally we told her to pull off the road.
"Ethel! you have GOT to calm down! This is ridiculous! NOTHING is going to happen! Your fine!" said Ron
"Your right. I need to stop this. Ok lets try driving again. and i WILL do better this time!" Said Ethel.
We got in the car and she was driving fine. She was getting calmer and even turned on a little music! We were very proud of her. We decided to drive into the country where its VERY relaxing!
"I like it here in the country! Its definitly more relaxing than those highways!" Said Ethel
All of a sudden the car started making some strange noises.
"Whats that?!?!?!" Yelled ron
"The cars stopping! THe engine must have died!" I yelled.
I went to look at the hood and it was the engine thats for sure. and since we were in the country there was no house or shop or anything for another 15 miles! What were we gonna do?!?!?!?!?!

whats a stick? (it says betty drives a stick) i want to no before i post the story!
Oops!
When Ethel sat in the car we both helped her to relax. We told her that there is no chance she can learn without relaxing .She said she was relaxed but her face showed how scared she was. We showed how to use the steering and the breaks. We did a mistake by teaching her how to use the break because she pressed the break before she started driving. Betty said that she could learn in a place with less trees and cars around. We tried that as well but it was of no good, her fear did not go we tried everything to teach her how to drive but it was no use .We thought we might take her to a place where the atmosphere of learning exists like a driving school area. We took her there we could see she was improving but everything finished when she saw two cars banging into each other. She refused to drive after watching the accident. She promised to try but the work was no good so we gave up but Ethel said wants to give it a last try. We took her to learn and she improved a lot and, now she was doing pretty well even though she put some dents on Archie’s car. Archie refused to give his car because repairing those dents would cost him a fortune. We had no choice and we told Ethel that there was no other way. After a week or so I dropped at Ethel’s and found out that she was out driving. I was surprised that Ethel learned how to drive but when I saw her I realized that that she was not driving a car but riding a bike. When I asked her she said that if a car is too difficult to drive there are other cheaper means of transport.

Oops! Big mistake!
Of course Archie was all good with the idea, but he had NO idea how easily scared Ethel can get, maybe she had drove him once or twice to the store when his car broke down (can't say I'm surprised).
Even though Bets and I were deathly afraid of her driving when she was nervous or scared, we weren't prepared for this incident. We were going on a ROAD TRIP! We had nothing to do for the summer so Ethel's parents suggested we took a trip to California and live a little piece of this year in a beach-bum's life. Sure we all go to the beach in August in Riverdale, but we wanted to go to California and see the difference. But an ever bigger mistake we made, we were taking ARCHIE'S CAR! It's bad enough Betty and I put up with it on Archie's dates, but now we would have to cope with the gas-guzzling deathtrap!
But of course, after every bad turn there's always something worse waiting for you. Ethel insisted on driving, and she's as worried as ever! Jughead has been avoiding her more than usual, and she's very upset and afraid that maybe she's done something wrong.
That's why Ethel, Betty and I are taking a GIRLS ONLY trip. I can't speak for Ethel, but Betty and I REALLY need a break from boys for a while.
On our leaving day, Betty and I were all packed. Betty was at my house because we all agreed to meet there, Archie had already dropped off his car and kissed us both goodbye, at which Betty was very giddy at, you know how she's mad about Archie.
But where was Ethel? I called her several times on my phone. Betty tried called on my homephone while I called on my cellphone. I was very upset, she was an hour late which meant we were an hour late, my perfect organized schedule had been ruined!
Finally, the doorbell rang, a jingle of doorchimes had been initiated and Smithers had answered the door.
"Miss Ethel, I shall escort you to the sitting room, which where Miss Veronica and Miss Betty are seated, awaiting your presence." said Smithers. Ethel dashed by Smithers frantically.
"Ron! Betty! Ohmigosh! Help me!" she called. We quickly rushed to her, hoping she wasn't injured.
"What?!" we cried in unison.
"I don't have Juggie's number! I have no idea where it is! I think I lost it! Help me! I need it! I want to call him!" she cried. She desperately searched everywhere in my house, misplacing everything. Fifi, the maid, was following her and fixing everything in her path.
I was fuming with rage. Had she forgotten about our trip? Is that the only reason she came here? To look for Jughead's number?
"ETHEL!" I shrieked. Ethel screeched to a stop.
"What could be more important than Juggie's number?" she asked, as if she was ashamed of me. I was about to burst out with fury, but luckily, Betty was there.
"Umm, our trip?" Betty shrugged.
"Ooooh, yeah see, I was going to call Juggie in between every hour while I was driving. I sent him 3 batches of cookies and 2 cakes, I wanted to know if he ate them yet." she remembered.
"Get in the car." I ordered. Ethel sulked and moped all the way there while Betty promised her that she would give her Jug's number.
Ethel sat behind the wheel, her teeth were chattering and she was shivering. I rolled my eyes and Betty sighed. Clammering, her hand took the car keys and started the engine. As she was driving, she was talking on and on about all the possibilities of Jughead being angry with her. Lucky Betty was in the back listening to her iPod, while I was stuck sitting right next to Ethel.
"I don't know, I mean I know its complicated for Jughead's love for me to shine through his appetite, but he hasn't been talking to me lately! It's as if he cares for food more than me! I don't think he even glanced at me once this week. Do you think I sent enough apology burgers?" and Ethel was like this FOREVERRRR. Suddenly, the car screeched to a stop. A little alarm was heard.
"You hear that? That means I have to call Juggie!" she smiled happily. Betty handed Ethel a piece of paper with a number scribbled on it. Ethel dialed it and waited for Jug to pick up, unfortunately, he didn't.
Tears poured from her eyes, Betty and I were practically FLOODED in Ethel's salty tears. "WHAT IF HE HATES ME? I'M SO SCARED! Ron, hold me!"
Ethel fell onto me and I struggled to sit back up, she had goosebumps on her skin.
"Ethel, DRIVE!" I pointed to the wheel. Mopily, she grabbed hold of the wheel and rolled along.
BOOM! I closed my eyes and all I heard were shrieks from Betty and I. Then it was silent except for the sound of sobbing. I opened my eyes and I saw a tree branch in front of me. I knew it, we were in a ditch. Ethel was up against the wheel, bawling her eyes out. Suddenly, I heard the engine sputter. With the help of Ethel, Archie's car had been officially destroyed.
"Oh great! Just great! Now what? What do we do? Tell me Betty? You're the Missus Fix-it!" I got out of the car and shook Betty by the shoulders. "I don't want to be stuck out here in the dirty outdoors. There are disgusting bugs here!"
Betty thought and thought and thought. She got out of the car and took a look at the engine.
"There isn't anything I can do. In fact, there isn't anything that can be done, it's broken.
B-R-O-K-E-N!"
I groaned. At the worst time, Betty had to show off her excellent spelling. Everything was going wrong today! Archiekins was going to be very upset!
"We're all in no mood to go on vacation. Ethel has boy trouble, Ronnie is having a mood swing and I'm just plain tired of this." pointed out Betty.
I was about to blow up at her with her rude little remark about a 'mood swing' but just forgot about it. Instead, I took out my cell and called Daddy.
"Daddy, I have no idea where we are. I would like you to send a helicopter but I don't know where we are so, that's impossible!" I whined.
"On the contrary, I put a tracking device on Archie's car, as I suspected his car would break down, so a helicopter will arrive in half an hour!" I knew he was smiling.
"EEK! DADDYKINS! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I cried happily.
When the helicopter arrived, we happily got on and they attached Archie's car onto the helicopter and we flew off to Riverdale. We decided to leave Ethel alone for a while, and let her come to.
When we arrived in Riverdale, we were pooped! We all came back to my house and as soon as we flicked the light switch on, everyone screamed, "SURPRISE!".
Surprised we were when Jughead walked up to Ethel and KISSED her on the cheek! Can you believe it? That's as rare as snow in July! Ethel suddenly lit up and she was all energized. We all started dancing as soon as Smithers turned on music. We partied the night away!
This is in fact the best start to a summer I've ever had. Oops, I might have spoke too soon, we didn't tell Archiekins about the car yet! I have to go tell him now! Wish me luck!
THE END :)
It all started one day when Betty and I agreed to give Ethel some pointers in driving. Ethel was a great driver and all, but the poor thing gets freaked out easily. You know how drivers are when they’re jittery and nervous; especially Ethel, but we decided that for all the times Ethel was there for us when we needed a shoulder to cry on just an understanding friend to talk to, it would be worth it. We borrowed Archie’s car because DUH I’m not going to risk getting my new Ferrari totaled.
We had gotten up early and taken Ethel to a peaceful road which was surrounded by lush green trees and colorful flowers on either side since we figured that the scenery might calm her down. After a while of cruising through Ethel seemed to be feeling confident and in control without even a hint of nervousness. That is, until ol’ Betsy started making those familiar putta-putta-ping-sputter noises of hers. Yep, the gas meter was almost empty. “I’ll drive over to the gas station now, I guess.” Ethel said. We got the gas tank filled and then Ethel suggested we drive over to Pop’s. I said, “Okay!” since I was pretty sure I heard a strawberry milkshake, sizzling cheeseburger, and plate of French fries calling my name.
Ethel was really into driving and the speed just kept on increasing. It was fine until she passed the speed limit and my new designer hat flew away. “Ethel, slow down!” Betty groaned. She did not. “Ethel? Are you okay?” I asked her. “Yes.HaHaHa!”Ethel replied. I looked at Ethel, with a confused look on my face, and saw something I had never seen before in her. Her eyes were wide and she looked as if she was possessed by an evil speed demon. It was something I thought I would never see in all my years in Riverdale- okay, that makes me sound old, but still.
All of a sudden, a cat running from a fierce stray dog blindly jumped onto the road…right in front of Archie’s car! Ethel instinctively put her foot down on the brakes. Then she realized the brakes weren’t working. The poor animal lay there on the road, too frightened to move. Somehow, miraculously, Ethel managed to move to the side enough so that the car would miss the cat entirely. All this time Betty and I were just hoping we had taught Ethel enough and we could do nothing but trust her. Surely enough, we were all right a few seconds later and there was hardly a scratch on Betsy. Ethel had returned to her normal state.
Ethel cried because she had almost put our and an innocent animal’s life in danger. “I have no idea of what had happened to me, but I promise you I’ll never the pass speed limit again.” Ethel sobbed. “It’s okay Ethel; you’ve learned your lesson.” Betty said, patting Ethel on the back. Just then Jughead came along. Ethel grinned. “With a few exceptions!” She smiled. “Thanks for all your help, but I think I’ve had enough for one day. See you later!” She ran after Jughead. Betty and I laughed.
The moral of the story is: drive carefully and don’t drive too fast.
Part 2
"Well, I have been having a hard time getting my license. I was wondering if we could practice and you could give my some tips."
I was speechless. "Ummm, let me call Betty and see what she thinks." I say. So I phone Betty.
" Oh what a great idea! We would be repaying the dear for everything she's done!" said Bettt joyfully. I sighed. I was stuck with it now.
" One thing," I say. " We are not using Daddykins limo. He would kill me if anything happened to it."
" Okay,"said Betty, sounding a little amused. " Bye."
" Bye."
The next day we went to Ethel's house, not at all aware of the adventure we were about to face....
To be continued
Part 3
" Betty, WHY coudn't we use, maybe Nancy's car?" I say.
" Archie was the only one who let us use it. We asked everyone else, but they didn't trust Ethel enough," she said. " Archie was our last choice."
I sighed. Well, I'd rather be seen in Archie's car than Betty's stick.
We rang the doorbell. "Hi guys!" said Ethel happily, with a huge smile on her face. " I am so pysched! I cannot wait 'til I finally get my license!"
" Let's get started!" Betty said, returning the smile. We hopped into the car. It's a while til I finally speak up.
" Um, Ethel, you are supposed to start the car." I say.
She smiles sheepishly. Uh-uh. This is going to be harder than I thought.
To be continued....
"hey ron, i'm here" ethel rung the doorbell anxiously, "Which car are we using your dads limo?"
"Um, No, actually we're using, um archies car..." " Do we have his pemission for me to practice my driving?" ETHEL cut off ron.
"Well no but he gave betty the car Keys since she always fixes his car..." "Oh I understand," Ethel Cut off AGAIN. Ron sighed, "PLaease stop cutting me off," she was clearly getting annoyed, "Bettys here already, oh betty!" Betty walked in the room slowly, "Oh- hi ethel so glad you're here!" Betty said sounding very friendly,"sorry, I was up late last night on a date with archie... you see he took me to a fancy formal dinner, it was amazing..." Ron fumed, "HMMPH for YOU its such a big deal,as I have been there many times... Oh dear what did yuo wear, don't tell me you wore your usual outfit tomboy jeans and a T Shirt!" Betty glanced down at her casual jeans and T shirt, "My outfit may not be A designer outfit, but at leasyt im SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW TO WEAR SOMETHING CASUAL TO GIVE CAR POINTERS!"betty fumed.
"Girls stop fighting!" ethel barged in, "we're trying to have a relaxing afternoon!" "you're right" ron agreed.
"Are you sure we can use archies car?" asked ethel for the 10th time. "Yes, what else could bang it up more?" said Ron.
THATS WHAT THEY THINK.
TO BE CONTINUED.....
part 2
I really did not feel like walking 15 miles just to get the car fixed! And i KNEW that ron wouldn't.
"Hey! Lets call someone to come pick us up!" I said
"Sounds great! I've got my cell phone, i'll call my dad!" Said Ron
But the cell phones wouldn't work. I guess there was no signal way out here in the country. I was about to scream! I was even tempted to beat up archie at that point, and thats when you really know i'm mad!
"Girls! Theres only one solution! We'll have to walk!" I said
"Oh no! oooooh no! I am NOT going to walk 15 miles just because Archies clunker died on us! theres NO way!" ron said
"Ron! PLEASE! work with me here! Thats our only hope!" I said
Finally after some talking to her i got her to say yes. But all this time Ethel was just quiet and didn't say a word. It seemed kind of strange. She looked really sad.
"Ethel, whats wrong?" I asked
"This is all my fault! Your only out here because you were helping ME drive! If it wasn't for me you girls wouldn't even be out here! YOu two stay here and I'LL walk and get help! Its the least i can do!" Said Ethel
"Ethel! You can't do that! This isn't your fault! It was our idea to come out here in the first place! Anyway, we are NOT going to let you walk 15 miles by yourself! Whatever we do, we do as a team! It doesn't matter whose fault it is! Were friends and we'll never leave each other right? So lets get moving! ALL of us!" I said
We walked the 15 miles and we got help. Archie was toast though! Veronica was SO MAD! she wouldn't even talk to him for days! i even yelled at him a bit! And even though Ethel didn't get a lot of tips from us and we didn't help her much. We grew in our friendship through this experience. We became better friends and learned how we need to work together as friends to make this work! It was a great learning experience for me, ethel, AND veronica! FRIENDS FOREVER!!!!!!
THanks for hosting this weeks story ron! I had a lot of fun writing!
Part 4
So once we got the car started, things ran pretty smoothely until we got to a stoplight. All the cars and people made Ethel dear so nervous.
" Ok Ethel, so you can go through a stoplight when it is what color?" Betty quizzed.
"Um, red?" she said, as she drove through the stoplight as it was red.
" No, green," I correct."Remember that next time,allright?"
We decided to go to the countrylike part of the area, where there weren't as many cars. It was going well.
" ETHEL LOOK OUT!" I scream. She freaks and she turns WAY off the road. She is driving through people's drive way, narrowly missing hitting children, and running over who knows what.
All of a sudden the car breaks down.
We are miles from Riverdale. I should of expected this. We're using ARCHIE'S car, for goodness sake. There's nothing we can do but start walking.
It's past midnight when we get home. We walk Ethel up to her house.
" You guys, I'm really sorry," she says, looking ashamed."This wouldn't of happened if I hadn't asked for help." The happy, excited Ethel was not in her body. This was a depressed Ethel, like after Jughead turned her down at the school dance,
I open the door saying," It's not your fault." I jump. Archie, Jughead, Midge, Moose, Pops, everybody was there. 'Omg,' I think,'Today was Ethels birthday!'
We party all night. We found out that her parents "forget" it was Ethel's birthday and merely suggested to practice driving.
We told everyone about the nights events and got a few good laughs. I got home at around 7 and fell fast asleep.
THE END
when exactly do v get 2 find out who the winner is 4 weekly story starter #6?
It was Monday morning, Archie and his classmates were sitting well rather dosing off, in Ms Grundy's English class. She was telling them the story of the challenges she met on the journey of becoming a teacher for the third time this week.
Jughead: You'd think she'd just get over her "what have I done with my life" phase already...*yawn*
Archie: Well when you're that age, phases don't crawl up slowly onto you...they hit you abruptly and smack you on the face.
Jughead and Archie giggle.
Ms Grundy:...and then there was my last year at university...
Betty: Will you guys knock it off, stop being so insensitive, one day you'll be in her shoes, and anyway her story is a very enlighting one...
Jughead: You mean it makes us light-headed?
Veronica: Stop it!
So anyway it was typical morning lesson at Riverdale high, when the door is slammed open and everybody jumps up, except Jughead whose head was stuck under the table as he was chewing his P&B sandwich. The class was bowled over by a perky and curious mood in a matter of second.
Ms Grundy: What is the meaning of this late entrance?!
Ethel: I'm sorry Ms Grundy, I haven't been having the best of mornings. I woke up only a few minutes late and the bus left the stop as soon as I arrived, so I decided to take a public bus, but I was surprised by the shock of the buses being on strike. I didn't have enough money for both a taxi and lunch so I decided to walk here...and the rain wasn't helping me out much.
Ms Grundy: That's terrible Ethel but rules are rules.
Ethel: I know Ms Grundy, Mr Weatherbee already gave me my just dessert.
Jughead: Did someone mention Dessert???
Jughead looks up from under the table with a little piece of sandwich left in his hand.
Ms Grundy: JUGHEAD JONES! What have I told you about eating in class, follow me to the principal's office!!
Jughead and Ms Grundy hurry out of the room, when Ethel sits on her chair with a blank yet helpless expression on her face.
Betty and Veronica go to Ethel and try to comfort her.
Ethel: Thank you guys, but it's all my fault, I shouldn't have woken up late.
Archie: Or you could just learn how to drive...
Betty: HEEEEYYYY!!
Reggie: you know how to drive, and you'll still be Ethel's company in detention today for being late again for the second time this week.
Betty: That's a great idea Archie
Veronica: Yeah.
Ethel: Thanks guys, but I tried but I always get nervous and end up messing up
Betty: Don't worry Ethel me and Ron have some great driving secrets which we'd love to share with you...
Veronica: yep that's for sure...now all we need is a car, we can't use my brand new one, or dad's limo
Betty: I drive a stick...
They both look at Archie and smile
Archie: No no no no no, I just repaired the car
Reggie: You mean the car seats, everything else can not be repaired under any circumstances.
Betty and Veronica: PLEEEEEEEEEEASSSSE ARCHIEKINS
Archie shakes his head: sorry Ethel but you know how it is
Ethel: yeah...it's okay Archie
Veronica: I'll let you drive my car for the weekend, while we'll giving Ethel lessons
Archie: DEAL!
That weekend....
Ethel: Guys I'm not quite sure about all of this, I mean, what if we crash, what if we slide, what if the brakes don't work, what if....
Veronica: ETHEL!! calm down, all these what ifs are the reason why, you get nervous
Betty: Ronnie is right Ethel. Instead of constantly imagining worst case scenarios, imagine things will go for the best and they will.
Ethel: Okay
The three girls get into the car while Archie, Jughead, Reggie, Chuck, Moose and Dilton get into Veronica's new car and drive away.
Betty: Just one question, if they're going to pick up girls with your new sports car like we overheard them plan, how are they going to do it with no free seats?
Veronica: Betty, I'd very much prefer it if you refrain from asking me to interpret how the male mind works.
Betty: okay ron, but they always say we are difficult.
So they drive off with Ethel on the wheel. They were just getting out of Archie's driveway as they headed to pop's. Ethel was lucky as the streets were quite empty, but the problem is that they were going to get crowded soon, 8pm everyone goes out to enjoy their weeked.
Betty: See Ethel, you're getting the hang of it.
Betty was sitting next to Ethel while Veronica was in the back seat stressing about what the guys are doing with her car.
Ethel: Yes, this is so much fun!
Betty: okay, the real challenge comes soon, when more people are on the street, not to mention reckless drivers. Remember to always be on the lookout for a pedestrian...they have the right of the way.
Ethel: Right! Let's just stop for some gas.
After the girls fill up their car with gas, they set off once again. Ethel, feeling much more confident at the wheel, is driving at a faster speed now, but traffic has increased and she is forced to slow down.
Veronica: Betty let's head to the mall..
Betty: good idea Ron, this way Ethel can practice parking in congested parking lots with tempermental people.
Ethel: Okay, here we go.
Meanwhile elsewhere...
Reggie: OKAY! Whose bright idea was it that we ALL go for a ride in Ron's cool car to pick up girls
Dilton: whoever thought that up, didn't think to much.
They all turn to Archie and give him "a what were you thinking" look.
Archie: guys, guys. Calm down, we can always have a guys night out in this awesome car.
Jughead: Ya he's right let's head to pop's for burgers.
Moose: duh...yeah
Reggie: But we always go to poptates to stuff your bottomless pit, spindlesnoot. How about if we go to centerville.
Archie: And do what?
Reggie: They have a new amusement park, plus there will be lots of girls we never met there.
Archie: I get your drift, and I like where it's going
Dilton: LETS GO!
Moose: Yeah, I love duh amusing parks.
Jughead: *sigh*...as long as they have a snack stand.
Betty: ETHEL ETHEL WHAT ARE YOU DOING SLOW DOWN, SLOW DOWN, SLOW DOWN!!!
Veronica: OH MY GOSH! WE'LL BE THE FIRST LIVING THINGS TO EVER HAVE A SPEED RECORD IN A MALL'S PARKING LOT.
Ethel: IT'S OUT OF CONTROL, THE CAR WON'T SLOW DOWN!!
Betty: HIT THE BRAKES!
Veronica: ARCHIE'S CLUINKER DOESN'T HAVE BRAKES!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!
The three girls scream out of fear, the car runs into the main road out of the parking lot, the car is out of control and they have no idea what to do, if they pull the emergency brake at that speed the car will flip.
Archie: Okay guys, we're nearly there...
Reggie: You've been saying that for the past hour!
Jughead: I'm hungry
Dilton: It's getting late, and I have to finish my book back home
Moose: Duh...I have nothing bothering me
Archie: GUYS STOP YOUR WHINING! Come on, this will be fun, see there's the sign
Reggie: Welcome to Centerville, should be welcome to Far far away, at the rate we are going
Jughead: I'm still hungry!
Veronica: dear God, please let us survive this and I promise I will stop maxing out ALL of my father's credit cards, just one or two...okay?
Betty: ETHEL!!! WE'RE HEADED FOR CENTERVILLE!!
Ethel: I KNOW I CAN SEE THE SIGN
Reggie: Hey Arch, isn't that your car, coming at super speed down the hill?
Archie: OH MY GOSH, IT IS! I GOTTA STOP THOSE CRAZY GIRLS
Jughead: ARCHIE NOOOOOO, THE LIGHT IS RED!!
Ethel: WHAT SHOULD I DO WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Betty: Take a left, there are no cars there!
Veronica: Isn't that the guys on our right?
Archie: STOP WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY CAR!
Dilton: Archie, stop you'll kill us
Moose: duh...stop Arch STOPPP! EEEEEEKK
Reggie: MAMA NOOOOOO!!!!!!!
The two cars crash and Archie's car's engine totals out. There is a long silence.
Jughead: Still hungry.
Moose: duh..is everyone okay?
Archie: i'm good, Reg?
Reggie: I'm cool, Dilt?
Dilton: Lost a brain cell but I will survive...
Jughead: you're better off without.
Veronica: OH NO! MY BRAND NEW MANICURE!!!
Archie: *phew* I thought she was going to say car...
Jughead: don't look now Arch...
Veronica stands with hands to her cheek while Betty helps loosen Ethel's hand from the wheel.
Dilton: well it's good that we're all okay
Veronica: MY CAR!! ARCHIE WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY CAR!
Archie: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY CAR?
A police car arrives and the gang is surrounded, they all stand with their hands up. Later that night the kids are all safe and sound and sitting in the Lodge's living room.
Mr Lodge: Well, you're lucky you all came out with only community service...
Mrs Andrews: but we have all decided that you all still need to be punished, firstly for letting a beginner driver at the wheel without adult supervision and secondly for being silly enough to learn how to drive on Archie's car.
Mr Jones: We are going to take away your driving privileges and you are all grounded for a month.
Mrs Lodge: Now kids, remember, driving is very dangerous even though cars are getting more and more safe. You must always be on the alert.
Archie: Am I getting a new car?
Mr Andrews: No son, but you can visit your old on in the junkyard.
Yeah I have my hopes up to win but I really want to know who wins so when will the winner be posted? Or was the winner already notified. And where are the winners for week 4 and 5 too? :S
Btw to all future writers, the story starter talks about the story from Veronica's point of the story, so I suggest you continue with her point of the story.

expanation plz!!!!!!!!!
sry! im kinda dumb when it comes 2 cars!
“Okay,” Betty said calmly. “Start the engine. And slowly back up.”
“Where are we going?” Ethel asked.
“Just around the neighborhood,” I replied while setting in the backseat. “Don’t worry.”
Ethel started the engine, and began to back up. As she did, I noticed she wasn’t watching where she was going and I shrieked. Ethel slammed on the breaks, and the car came to a screeching halt. A truck that was passing by just nearly missed Archie’s tale gate. I sighed with relief.
Betty looked at me. “What?” I asked. “There was a truck coming. I panic.”
I could see that what I did bothered Ethel, and I felt like an idiot. I knew I had only made things worse by shouting, but what else could I do. I was afraid she didn’t see the truck coming.
“I can’t do this. “ Ethel said. She started to cry.
“Yes, you can. Just remember to watch where you are going next time.” Betty said.
“Come on Ethel, you can do it.” I chanted.
Ethel turned to me and I could see tears whaling in her eyes. “No I can’t.”
“Look, I shouldn’t have shrieked like that.” I apologized. “But it’s really no big deal. We all do that at one time or another.”
“You sure,” Ethel sobbed.
“Yes, I’m sure.” I smiled. “Go on Ethel. Let’s go around the neighborhood.”
She sighed and looked back. “Okay, I’m ready let’s get going!”
We drove around the neighborhood for a full hour! Ethel was doing really, really good. And her confidence was beaming. So we stopped at POP Tate’s place for a celebration. And guess what! The whole gang minus Archie was there. It was too bad really. Ethel wanted to tell him thank you for letting her borrow his car to practice driving while he wasn’t using it. Anyway, we start to leave POP Tate’s soda shop. When all of the sudden, I notice Ethel’s face. It’s about as pale as Casper the Friendly ghost you can get. “What’s wrong?” I asked. I turned towards Betty. Neither one of us could see what was bothering Ethel. “Oh no oh no noo no oh nooo!” Ethel Cried. She ran over to Archie’s car and kneeled down to the rear end of the vehicle. It was only a small dent, nothing more than what about twenty-dollars worth of damage.
“How could this happen?!” exclaimed Ethel.
“Maybe, it was already like that when we drove it.” Betty was doing her best to try to reassure her, but it obviously wasn’t working. “I doubt it. Besides you can barely notice it.” I said.
“OH BUT I DO.” Ethel cried. “What’s Archie going to say? He’ll think I did this. I’m not even sure I did this.”
“You probably didn’t do it, Ethel. Somebody may have hit it with their car door. It happens.” Betty place her arms around Ethel. Ethel started to get up. “What am I going to do?”
“Well, just tell Archie the truth.” Betty said. “He’ll get over it. After all he’ll take it well.”
“Yeah, right! Betty this is Archie we’re talking about. I mean, the guy goes crazy if his left rear mirror is out of place.” I said. I realized I had said the wrong thing when Ethel started to cry even harder. Betty gave me this I’m going to kill you look, as she took Ether to the side. I walked over to her and said I was sorry and that Betty was probably right. “Look, he’ll believe you didn’t know anything about the dint. You have witnesses. Me and Betty. And we know he won’t give you a hard time with us around.”
“Really, “ Ethel said. She stopped crying and we all got into the car. And went back to Archie’s house.
When we arrived, Archie was setting on the front porch. I didn’t like were this was going. He knew something was up when he saw that Betty had the wheel. “Well, how did the driving lesson?” He asked as Betty got out of the car. He noticed Ethel and asked why she wasn’t the one driving. “What happen?” He asked.
We all looked at each other, and I helped Ethel out of the car.
“I have something to tell you?” Ethel said. Her voice was very meek and quiet. Archie looked confused. “Huh, what’s wrong? Didn’t the lesson go okay?” he asked.
“Yeah, the lesson was fine except. “ Betty gave me the look again.
“Excepted what?” He asked. He turned to face Ethel.
“there’s a dent in your car.” She said.
“What?! A dent.” Archie shouted. He ran over to the side of the car and looked surprised. Betty and I both sighed. We really felt bad for Ethel. We could see how this was tearing her up inside. “I’m sorry, I’m so very sorry.’ She cried. But Archie stared at the dent. We went to stand over beside Ethel for support. “Look Archie, I’ll pay for the damage. Actually we’re not sure what happened? It was like that when we left POP Tate’s place. Somebody must’ve hit it with their car door.” I explained. I must’ve said something strange because both Betty and Ethel looked at me with the weirdest of stares. It was almost like they were in shock when I’d pay for the damage. I mean, I may be a bit stingy with money, but it’s not like I’m going to not help out a friend when they need it most.
Suddenly, Archie stood up. We thought for sure he was going to hit something or someone, but instead he did something strange. He started to laugh. Betty and I could figure out what was going on. And Ethel was reduced to a huh?? “You mean that old dent?” He pointed his finger and their was a huge smile on his face. “Uh huh.” Ethel said.
“Oh don’t worry about it Ethel. I did that.” Ethel, Betty and I just felt our mouths drop open, and we couldn’t believe what we had heard.
“You did that?” Ethel asked.
“Yup, banged her up this morning while backing out. Unfortunately, I didn’t see my dad coming in the driveway.” He smiled.
There was a huge sigh of relief in the air. “Oh, Archie. I’m sure it wasn’t there this morning. When we borrowed.” Ethel said.
“It was, so don’t worry.” He walked over to Ethel and gave her a big hug. Betty and I were still flabbergasted and didn’t know what to say. Except I wanted to give Archie the biggest kiss ever. But I could see Betty was thinking the same thing.
That night I gave Archie a call on the phone. He answered it. “Hello.”
“You really didn’t hit that car this morning didn’t you?” I asked. There was a long pause. Then he said no. I knew it. “Why did you tell Ethel you hit, then? I would’ve paid the damage” I said.
“Did you see how she reacted.?”
“Yeah, and it was a tiny scratch to.” I said. “She can freak out over the simplest thing.”
“Yeah, that’s why I said I did it. So her confidence wouldn’t break down.”
I still couldn’t believe what I heard Archie said. This was the kind of guy that you wouldn’t was, well you know actually mature. “And besides. The damage was really small. So big deal.”
“Maybe your not such a twit after all.” I said and hung up the phone.
“Wait Veronica.” He said. I stopped.
“What?” I asked.
“How about dinner?”
At first, I thought he was asking me out because he knew I’d say yes after. However, I didn’t want to think like that right now. So I said yes anyway.
Monica:
By stick it is meant that the car is manual, which means that to change gears (or speed levels) the driver must move the stick, which makes driving a little harder, especially for beginners.
Polly, most of the story starters that are posted up are in Betty's and Veronica's veiw, but we like to twist it up a bit! You know, put it in nobody's point of veiw. Well, have fun writing stories everyone! May the best, uh... girl/boy, win!
2 monica:
I don't Know 2 much 'bout cars, but an automatic car is da opposite of a manual car. Manual cars r harder 2 drive, like when u r on a slope, n u stop, it starts 2 sorta' move back on it's own.Umm, does that help, Monica?
p.s, don't worry, I don't think u need 2 worry if u don't know what a stick is, b4 this I didn't either:}!
U r not the only 1 who's confused, Polly!Do v get notified by the email adress v gave them, or what? When will v find out? I realize how hard it is 2 pick just 1 winner from all these gr8 stories, but i can't w8 2 find out who wins!
Ethel at the Wheel
“I am so sorry dad!” Ethel sobbed as the tow truck hauled off her dad’s trashed convertible.
“Well, Ethel, I’m afraid that’s the last time I lend you one of my new cars to go to Pop Tate’s,” Her father shook his head with frustration.
“Whenever you get nervous, you steer the car right off the road!” He continued.
“I know dad, I’m so, so sorry!” Ethel cried.
“Don’t be sorry, just do something about it.” Her dad walked inside after he said his final statement.
“He’s right! I know! I’ll ask Betty and Veronica to help me with my confidence when I’m driving!” Ethel grabbed her cell phone and called her two friends and in no time it was all set. They would all meet at Pop’s in fifteen minutes (Ethel would walk of course) to put good vibes in Ethel’s head, and then they’d figure out what car Ethel could drive, and very likely trash, from either Betty or Veronica. It ended up much more difficult than they had thought.
“No way! I am not putting my new sports car in Ethel’s hands! We might as well send it to the junk yard right now!” Ron screeched when Betty suggested they use her car.
“I’m glad you have so much confidence in me.” Ethel mumbled.
“Well, we can’t use my car; it’s a stick-shift!” Betty exclaimed.
“We can’t use my limo, it’s too big!” Ron said, then she got a look on her face that could only mean she had an idea.
“Let’s ‘Borrow’ Archie’s car then.” Ron grinned an evil grin.
“Veronica! How could you even think of stealing Archie’s car?” Betty yelled.
“I said borrow didn’t I? Besides, if he finds out I’ll just let him take me to the next dance.” Veronica said. Betty thought for a very long time then finally said-
“Fine, but only if Ethel promises to be super careful.”
“Oh I will! Thank you so much! Let’s go!” Ethel ran for the door.
“I hope you know what we’re doing, Ron.” Betty whispered before leaving the shop.
“I am so ready for this!” Ethel said while pretending to drive inside the parked car.
“All right, Ethel. Just pull out of the driveway.” Betty said from the backseat.
“Got it.” Ethel nodded. As she began to pull out an elderly man in a Mercedes drove in front of her and her nerves caught up with her.
Crash!
Archie’s car veered right around the next house and flipped into an empty pool. Miraculously, they stopped right side up.
“Is everyone okay?” Ethel asked getting out of the car and almost slipping in a small puddle of water.
“I think so,” Betty said.
“Speak for yourself, I was applying lipstick when we crashed!” Veronica stumbled out of the car.
“I’ll check out the car,” Betty announced.
“Oh yes, the car! Don’t worry about my make up disaster,” Veronica said angrily.
“Uh-oh, this is so not good!” Bets exclaimed
“Oh man, what’d I wreck?” Ethel said through her hands which were covering her eyes.
“Well….. Do I have to tell you?” Betty said hesitantly.
“Oh just get on with it!” Ronnie exclaimed.
“Come see for yourselves,” Betty finally said. Ethel gasped when she saw the dented EVERYTHNG.
“We can’t give this car back to Archie!” She yelled.
“We have to! Otherwise he may call the police about a STOLEN car!” Betty panicked.
“She’s right Ethel, we can just put it back and tell him we saw two odd-balls in his car this morning,” Veronica suggested.
As the three of them pushed Archie’s destroyed clunker into his garage, they discussed a plan. Betty would go to Archie and then bring him to Pop’s where Veronica would be waiting. She would mention something about the car theft, which Betty would have already mentioned to Archie. A few minutes later, Ethel would walk in and exclaim something about the carjackers, and then Archie would be totally convinced that two jokers had taken his car for a joyride, crashed it, then put it back in the garage. It was genius.
“I’ll get it!” Archie shouted as the doorbell rang. He opened the door to find Betty. He could see on her face that something was wrong.
“Oh Archie! I can’t believe what those men did!” Betty shouted as she embraced him.
“Who did what?” Archie asked.
“You don’t know? I saw two men dressed like gangsters in your car! They were headed down Kennedy drive when I saw them!”
“They stole my car? Are you sure, Betty?” Archie was shocked.
“Saw the license plate. Archie1, no doubt about it,” Betty answered.
Archie ran towards his garage.
“It’s trashed!” He screamed.
“They returned it?” Betty asked as she saw the plan was a success.
“Not ‘till after they destroyed it!” Archie pouted.
“You poor dear! I’ll treat you to a milkshake at Pop’s,” Betty said as she put her arm around Archie’s shoulders.
“Oh Archie! I saw two gentlemen in your car this morning! Who were they?” Veronica continued their lie.
“I don’t know, but if I find out they’ll be sorry.”
“All I know about them is that one was wearing a very odd hat,” Veronica lied.
“Oh yes, very odd!” Betty pretended to remember.
Just then Ethel burst through the door.
“I can’t believe those guys took your car!” She yelled.
“But I must admit, the one driving was handsome, in a rugged way!” She continued
“Sorry girls, I have to go now if I want to make it home for dinner by walking,” Archie growled.
“I feel bad,” Ethel said as Archie left.
“Me too, let’s tell him the truth tomorrow,” Betty agreed.
As Archie was walking out he ran into Jughead and Reggie.
“Hey Arch!” They both said.
“Humph! I’m not speaking to you two after what you did to my car!” Archie fumed.
“What’d we do to his car Reggie?”
“I have no idea Jug, I have no idea.”
The End
Ethel at the Wheel
Ethel came in to Pops with a depressed look on her face. Betty, Veronica and Archie saw her and rushed to her to ask what happened. “Oh, my parents took away my car keys.” Ethel said slowly.
“Why did they do that?” Veronica asked.
“Well, I was driving at Boohoo forest and…...wait, you know that there were monster sightings there, right?” Ethel said hopefully.
Betty and Veronica nodded there heads. “Yeah, it’s always on TV” Archie said.
Ethel relaxed a bit. “Good, well I was worried about that, and I accidentally went for the ditch, but hit a tree instead.” Ethel shrugged.
“ETHEL! It’s not like you to lie! You know there’s no such thing as monsters!” Betty scolded.
Ethel looked like she was going to cry. “There, there Ethel, Veronica and I will help you learn how to drive!”
“With what? I got my car keys taken away! Remember?”
“But that doesn’t mean you can’t use somebody else’s car!” Betty smiled. Veronica gasped. “But you’re NOT using my TravelX6turbojethyperspeed600!” Veronica yelled. “And my car is a stick.” Betty sighed. “And you’re not using mine! You-“Archie started to say but veronica cut in. “ARRRRRRRRCHIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!” Veronica screamed. “YOU’RE LETTING ETHEL USE YOU’RE CAR. IN FACT, YOU’D BE HAPPY TO! AM I RIGHT, ARCHIEKINS? AM I RIGHT?”
“Y-yes dear, you’re always right!” Archie said sheepishly.
“Meet me at my house tonight girls!” Ethel chuckled.
That night, Archie dropped his car off, with much hesitation. “Easy out of the driveway!” Betty yelled.
“O-ok sorry!” Ethel apologized.
“You’re doing better now!” Veronica cheered.
Ethel was driving great, that was until they came to Boohoo forest.
“-And she was all like, whatever about him!” Betty said, continuing her gossip.
“No! She couldn’t have done that to Hank! Why would she?”
“I heard she likes Walter!”
“NO WAY!”
“What about Lily, how’s she doing with Reggie?”
“I have the biggest news about them! Reggie was bowling with Lily and Gi-OOF!“
Then suddenly Ethel made a hard stop. “E-thel! Don’t stop so hard!”
Veronica ordered. Ethel was still and pale. “L-look!” She said pointing at the ground beside her.
Betty and Veronica looked to the side There we’re GIGANTIC tracks with claws. Betty put her hand on her mouth. “S-sasqautch (That’s the fancy word for Bigfoot) tracks! No bear has feet that big!” Betty gasped.
They all screamed. They heard a GIGANTIC roar. “OH MY GOSH GUYS!!! I DON’T WANT TO BE SASKET FOOD!” Veronica whined.
“That’s SASQUATCH food.” Betty rolled her eyes.
The roar got louder, the Sasquatch come bursting out from the bushes and was walking in the side of the road. They screamed some more. Then, the Sasquatch got near. “DRIVE ETHEL! DRIVE!” Betty screamed.
Ethel turned into the ditch and roared away from the road. She nervously tried to dodge the trees.
“Steer Ethel, steer!” Veronica growled.
“OK! You can stop now!”
“I can’t! The accelerator pedal is stuck!”
“OH NO! WE’RE HEADED STRAIGHT FOR THE RIVER!” Betty screamed as they covered their eyes.
They felt the car stop. Betty peeked out of her fingers and saw that half of the car was dangling over the river. Old vines got caught on the windshield at the front of the car and keeping the car from going forward, and into the rushing water. “Whew! We’re saved!” Betty cheered.
Veronica and Ethel opened there eyes to see if it was true. They all cheered and slapped hands. Suddenly, there was a big snapping noise. The vines were giving way. But they couldn’t get out of the car or they would tip forwards in to the river. They screeched as the last vine gave way. But then they felt the car going backwards.
Bigfoot was dragging the car backwards from the bank. Bigfoot to the rescue! Finally the car stopped. “H-h-he saved us!” Ethel stammered.
“Not for long!’ Betty cried.
He came right up to the window. He girls we’re too scared to scream. “Duh…gee girls! It’s a suhprize tuh see ya here!” It said.
“What? Wait a minute. You sound like Moose!” Veronica gasped.
“I am Moose!” Moose said as he put his hands around his ears and pulled the mask off. “Moose, why are you dressed up as a Bigfoot?” Ethel said, relieved that he wasn’t a real sasqauth.
“Duhh…I take drama lessons and in the play I’m the Sasquash! Muh acting school is right down the road! I walk back by dis road every night!” Moose said dumbly (As usual). “You pronounced it wrong, its Sasket and why we’re you roaring?” Veronica asked. “Duhh…Ms. Idonna Vanasmackyou (Ireely Vanasmackyou sister) wants me to practice muh roar, so I do that when I walk home!” Moose said proudly.
“And why don’t you take you’re costume off when you go home?” Betty asked.
“Duhhh…good idea Betty! I never thought of that!” Moose pondered.
Moose dragged Archie car home with the girls in it. Everything worked out fine. Archie’s beloved car Betsy was just fine and what Archie didn’t know, wouldn’t hurt him.
Misadventures in "Drivers Ed."
It was a bright sunny summer day when Betty and I were scheduled to give our dear friend, Ethel, some driving tips. You see, Ethel is a pretty decent driver, she just gets scared very easily. And when that happens, it's right into the nearest ditch. I got up out of bed, stretched, and prepared myself for the day ahead. Then I took a shower and changed into my new designer jean shorts and a purple polo with a pale green tank top underneath. Just as I'd finished fixing my hair into a purple headband, I heard a car horn blast from the driveway. betty and Ethel were picking me up in Archie's car (he let us use it to give Ethel some pointers) at 10:00. It was 9:50. Typical Betty, always early! I ran down the staircase and out the front door, slipping into my purple high heeled shoes along the way.
"Lead the way Ron!" Betty said as I hopped into the drivers seat and buckled my seatbelt and she crawled into the back and did the same. Daddykins had blocked off a stretch of road especially for Ethel's training, it had smooth pavement and a beautiful scenery, it ran right through a small forest.
"Here we are!" I announced as I drove around the orange sign that proclaimed the road was temporarily closed.
"Gee, it was real nice of your dad to let us use this little road to practice on Veronica!" Ethel said from the passenger seat, "and it was real nice of Archie to let us use his car!"
"I'll send your regards to Daddykins," I told her. Betty and Ethel exchanged glances, they obviously don't appreciate my proper manner. I pulled the car over to the side of the road and switched seats with Ethel.
"Alright," I said after we had all buckled our seatbelts securely, "let's see you drive!" Ethel pulled out onto the tar and waited for further instruction.
"Why don't you start out by driving all the way to the end of the road and back," Betty suggested, "and then Veronica and I can give you some tips."
"Okay!" Ethel agreed as she started off down the road.
About half way through a large bug buzzed by the windsheild.
"Eeeep!" Ethel exclaimed swerving into the wrong lane and back into the right one. By this time I was starting to get annoyed. Ethel's driving got jerky every time she heard an unfamiliar noise, she got spooked by EVERYTHING, and I mean, come on,... a FLY?!
"Ethel, pull over!" I ordered sternly, "let me show you how it's done!" Ethel hesitantly pulled to the side of the road, got out of the drivers seat, and into the passengers seat.
"Like this," I said, "you can't drive all jerky when you hear something, and swerve all over the place when a bug flies by!" Ethel held her hands in her lap sheepishly in the seat beside me. Still irritated, I drove smoothly to the opposite orange sign, turned around, and headed back. On the way back I was feeling a little bit calmer, and maybe a little bit sorry for being so harsh towards Ethel. All of a sudden, a family of deer ran across the road and right in front of the car! I let out a yelp as I jerked the wheel sharply to the left, and before I knew it, we were sitting off in the dirt and rubble on the side of the road. Nobody was hurt (it was a good thing we were all wearing our seatbelts!) so we all stepped out of the car to inspect it.
"Oh no!" I exclaimed, clapping my hands over my mouth in shock. The car had run straight into a fallen tree trunk. Both headlights were shattered and the car's front was a little smashed up. This was horrible.
"What have I done?!" I mumbled, "what have I done?"
"Look who's not talking!" Betty said playfully.
"Well..." Ethel started, "I did learn something...!" she paused, "not to do that!" Betty laughed, and even I managed a small giggle.
"I guess we should call it quits for today then," I said as we climbed back into the car. I inserted the key into the ignition and turned the motor on. It rumbled and came to life.
"Well, at least it starts!" Betty reasoned, optimistic as ever. But we all knew how serious this situation was, and I felt AWFUL. I drove out onto the normal road and towards the Andrews' house, wincing at every turn, expecting the worst from Archie.
The look that Archie gave us when we pulled into the driveway and explained everything to him was positively horrid. All he was capable of was blinking unbelieveingly and breathing. I just couldn't escape the fact that it was all my fault.
Later on that week I gave Archie a call; Mrs. Andrews picked up.
"Hello?" she said.
"Hi Mrs. Andrews!" I began, "is Archie home?"
"Hold on just a second sweetie, he's in his room..." she replied.
"Hello?" Archie answered.
"Hi Archie!" I said, embarrassed, "again, I'm SOOO sorry for what I did, I didn't mean to, but... Daddykins got you aa new sports car... so... everything worked out for the best, right?!"
No answer.
"Right?" I repeated, a little nervous this time.
"Yeah Ronnie, sure... sure." Archie said good naturedly. It was then that I knew everything was going to be okay, but boy did I learn my lesson!!!
