Here we are starting a Brand New Quarter in our Weekly Story Contest. This is soooooo exciting! I think we came up with a good one to get things rolling. We hope you like it. Here goes:

“Girl-zilla”

Tired of getting in hot water all the time with Betty, Veronica… and girls in general, Archie went to Riverdale’s chief science geek, Dilton, for help.

Dilton invented “Girl-zilla” – a device that looked deceptively like a cell phone, but would alert Archie any time it detected negative energy directed at him from people of the female persuasion.

Great idea… but, of course, it didn’t work. In fact, it failed spectacularly! What happened?

Pop Tate got called for Jury Duty during the very busiest week of the entire year, the week that the Comics Convention was in town. He decided to close The Chock’lit Shoppe for the day, even though he would lose a ton of money!

When Jughead found out, he rounded up the gang and they sprang into action – they volunteered to run Pop’s for the day! Hey, it sounded like a good idea at the time… What happened?

Night Of The Iguana

The Riverdale Theater ran a special “Monster Movie Marathon” night. EVERYONE was there – including Ethel, who smuggled her pet iguana, Elizabeth, into the theater in her big purse. (Elizabeth LOVES popcorn and monster movies, in case you were wondering.)

Anyway, shortly after the second feature started, Elizabeth slipped out of Ethel’s purse and got loose in the theater! It was absolute CHAOS!!

The Worst School Lunch Ever

Early one morning, Ms. Beazly came to school wearing a brand new pair of eyeglasses. These weren’t any old reading glasses – they were tri-focals! (3 different lenses in one) Needless to say, they take some getting used to. After she parked in Mr. Weatherbee’s spot by mistake, and got lost in the hall, she found the cafeteria and started making lunch. She couldn’t read any of the labels, but that didn’t slow her down. First she began mixing ingredients for chocolate cake, but she grabbed the chili powder instead of the cocoa… and it got MUCH worse after that.

Boy, was EVERYONE surprised when lunch was served THAT day! What happened?

Thanksgiving Fiasco

Miss Grundy’s class was given the chore honor of presenting the Thanksgiving Play to all the children in Riverdale Elementary school. (It’s an annual tradition. Last year, Coach Kleats’ 3^rd hour PE class had the honors.)

Miss Grundy wrote the script, cast the parts AND directed the play. Betty was in charge of set decorations. Veronica, of course, rounded up costumes. Props were handled by Reggie. Archie was given the job of getting live turkeys for a historic display in the lobby. And since food is a big part of Thanksgiving, Jughead was in charge of that.

The day of the big play arrived… but it didn’t exactly go as planned. What happened!?!

“Who is this?” said Archie.

“Santa!”

Archie started to laugh, then heard a noise outside. He got up, ran to the window and looked out. There, on the lawn below was a sleigh… pulled by reindeer!
