Alexandra Martinez:

The old gang went on a field trip to the Riverdale Candy Company, as part of their business class to learn about the business of making and selling candy. Miss Grundy was the teacher of the class, and when they arrived to the factory for their tour, they found employees busy making Valentine’s treats. Miss Grundy greeted Mr. Perez from the Riverdale Candy Company, who gave an overview of the Candy Company. While Mr. Perez began his tour along with the class, Archie reminded himself that Valentines Day was near and he was flat broke (sigh! like always). He imagined how nice it would be to be able to give Betty and Veronica a basket full of candies like the one’s the employees were busy making. A brilliant idea occurred to him. He would sneak out of the tour group and make himself some candy for the girls to give on Valentine’s Day; he told Jughead of his brilliant idea since he would need a lookout to assure they would not get caught. Jug did not agree with the idea initially, he thought they could get caught and did not think Archie’s cause was worth it (girls, nothing but trouble!). But like any good pal, he agreed to help Archie. While Mr. Perez was explaining how the candy was shipped to RCC (Riverdale Candy Company) they sneaked out of the group and entered a room labeled: candy experiments caution do not enter, but they did not notice the warning sign. The room was full of rare machines already processing candy. Archie went straight to a machine that looked it could make chocolates. He told Jug to help him find some chocolate to put into the machine. Jug hesitated for a moment and told Archie what made him think that machine could make chocolates?!. Archie pointed out to some remaining chocolate on the machine, a clear indicator that the type of candy the machine created was chocolates. What neither of them saw was the sign that read nozzle clogged please do not use. Archie filled out the machine nice and full to be able to create lots of chocolates in a short period of time. He instructed Jug to please turn on the machine. Jug was not so sure, but did it anyways. The machine began to stutter, then it began to smoke, both of them tried to shut down the machine, but no luck, the switch was stuck. It looked as if the machine was about to explode. They keep trying to shut down the machine, but it wouldn’t give. The machine exploded with all it’s might and all the chocolate that was stored flooded the room, broke the door, which was used by Archie and Jug as a surf board in the sea of chocolate. The chocolate reached the tour, as they screamed as the waves of chocolate reached them, Miss Grundy and Mr. Perez. Once the chocolate settled all the students were laughing, except Miss. Grundy, who looked at Archie in complete knowledge that somehow he was responsible for all this. Archie began to explain what had happen, but Miss. Grundy in a resigned tone said “Never mind Archie, I don’t know how you did all of this, but you are going to clean all this mess and work out an arrangement with Mr. Perez to pay for all the damages”. He expressed how sorry he was and that all he wanted to do was to give a present to Betty, Veronica and to her since she was such a great teacher. Grundy was touched (she got teary eyed) and the girls (Betty and Veronica) were hugging him and kissing him for such a sweet thing he tried to do. At the end the gang wished their readers “Happy Valentines’ Day” from Archie and the gang.

title: Candy Catrastrophe
the RHS students went to the Riverdale Candy company, on a school tour. Jughead just wants to get free candies at the end of tour; Ronnie and Betty finding the perfect valentine gift for Archie; and Reggie of course-finding a valentine gift for himself. Mrs. Sweetcakes (the tour guide lady) shows giants mixing pots of candy, then shows employees making valentine treats.
Ronnie and Betty just gasped, Reggie shows his 'bored' face and Archie holding Jughead's hand in case he gets off and went to eat all candy in the company. The tour went smoothly. Then the RHS students went to company store to get free candies. Ronnie and Betty are looking for valentine treats, and they saw a pink chocolate heart outlined with white and chocolate frosting, written 'I LOVE YOU'. Ronnie and Betty desperately getting the treat, bidding it with their money. The chocolate is won by Betty, but Ronnie grabbed it and the treat fall to the floor, falling in front of the door with 'do not enter' sign. Jughead apparently follows and entered the door, followed by Archie, Reggie, and Betty and Ronnie who is still fighting. Then they gasped as they look at the dreamy candy factory. The valentine treat the girls fighting falls into a giant pot filled with pink taffy. Ronnie and Betty accidentaly fell into that pot, trying to keep up, and grabbing the candy. Reggie just blankly stared at the girls, then run back to the store, screaming for help. Jughead ran form Archie's grasp, eating lots and lots of chocolate, which scared the employees. The employees ran away scared, and some of them accidentaly pushes the giant pot of candy (which inside of it are Betty and Ronnie) and the pot fell to the floor, spilling pink taffy everywhere. An employee pressed an emergency button. Betty and Ronnie are trying to run, but they're covered in pink taffy and hardly can move with all the stickyness. Archie pulls Jughead, to help the sticky girls. Then they got sticked with the girls, trying to pull them from the taffy. Reggie comes back with other RHS students, giving the four friends helping hands. The tour guide saw what happened and fainted. Dilton with his camera, writing for school's paper actually, took a picture of the students pulling Ronnie and Betty out of taffy.
the following week, in Pop's chocklit shoppe, Betty and Ronnie are upset as they read school's paper. They both didnt get the valentine treat. Pop just laughed as they explained the whole story. Then he said, "Too much candy isnt SWEET, is it?"

The Field Trip

The class chattered away while Ms. Grundy tried to get their attention; “Class! Students! Quiet down!” One by one, the talkative teenagers stopped gossiping. “Alright”, Ms. Grundy started to write the homework on the board, “We will begin our new chapter tomorrow”. The class, except Dilton, groaned. Ms. Grundy continued, “Would you still feel this way if I told you that a field trip was included”. “Yay!!” “It will be this Saturday. Here, take these forms home to have them signed by your parents. Anybody who is late will be left behind”. Oh no, Archie thought.

That Saturday, the bus waited outside Riverdale High for all the students. Betty and Jughead waited next to the bus for Archie. The bus driver called out, “We’re leaving in five minutes”. Jughead groaned, “Great day to be late”. Archie came running. He panted, “Car wouldn’t start”. The trio ran in the bus just as the door closed. Ms. Grundy stood at the front of the bus; “Our surprise field trip is a tour of Riverdale’s Candy Factory”. “Jughead! Stop drooling on me!”

Inside, the students watched gummies get shaped, taffy get stretched, and chocolate get melted. Jughead constantly wiped his drooling mouth so it wouldn’t drop on the camera that was around his neck. Betty looked casually around and caught someone ducking out of sight. She ignored it.

Throughout the day, things have been going wrong. The gummies wouldn’t shape, the taffy wouldn’t stretch, and the chocolate wouldn’t melt. Betty started to think about the mysterious figure that ducked out of sight. She talked to Archie about it. “Hmm…” Archie thought when she told him, “Sounds suspicious to me”. They talked to the owner about it. “Oh”, Mr. Russell said when they told him, “they’ve come back”. “Who?” “Billy Bonkers. He’s another candy maker or was until he was closed by the state. They say he was putting in some illegal ingredients to make it taste better. He’s been coming back here for weeks now trying to catch us in some illegal act”. “That’s terrible!” “Yes. He also sabotages our machinery”. Just then the chocolate machine exploded.

“We were so lucky no one got hurt”, Mr. Russell sat down and put his palm to his forehead, “If this continues, I’ll have to close down the factory”. “Isn’t there something we can do?” Betty didn’t want to see the old factory close. Neither did Archie, “Maybe we can catch him in the act”. “And how do you expect to do that?” Mr. Russell was eager to help if it would save his factory. “Leave it to us, sir”, Archie had a plan.

“Jughead! Can I borrow your camera?” Jughead removed the camera from his neck and gave it to Archie. Betty came running up to him; “I got the list”. “Good”, Archie put the camera around his neck, “You know what to do?” Betty nodded. “To the lollipops!”

In the lollipop room, Archie stood behind the hardening machine while Betty ducked behind some boxes of sticks. They waited and waited. Finally, Billy Bonkers came in with a screwdriver; “This will close him down for good”. CLICK!!! “What was that?!” Billy charged at Archie and started to attack him. “Betty!” Betty cam out from behind the boxes and jumped on Billy, making him fall to the floor.

Moments later, Archie and Betty, worn out, bruised, and scratched, led tied-up Billy Bonkers down to Mr. Russell’s office, where Mr. Russell and two police officers were waiting. “And this picture”, Archie held up the photo he took earlier, “proves that he was sabotaging Mr. Russell’s machinery”. The police took Billy Bonkers away and Mr. Russell gave the two heroes a firm handshake; “You two single-handedly saved my factory! You surely will get a reward for this”. “Thank you, sir”.

The next day, Archie and Betty sat in front of his new television and shared of Russell’s chocolates. Jughead came running in; “You guys are in the paper!” Archie took the newspaper from Jughead and read TWO STUDENTS SAVE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.

The End.

Ashley C:

Betty and Veronica were over in the east wing, talking to the cute Mars Bar wrapper, and Archie was on the conveyor belt. Don't ask, long story. Ethel had given up chasing me, and Miss Grundy was nowhere to be seen. Perfect for stealing a candy or two, right? I just ahd to have a fudge-mellow delight bar, or else I would, like, starve! So, I tiptoed over to a table with assorted candys on it and tried one. Not a fudge-mellow delight, but it would have to do. I took another, and popped it in my mouth. Then another. And another. My cheeks were WAY puffed out with the candys, and I still didn't feel nauseous! One more bite wouldn't hurt, right? Maybe not, but I could see I had taken more than I had bargained for! My pockets were bulging, and it looked like I was the fattest teen in the world, I had stuck so many candys in my shirt! Time to stop?I thought. Never! I had to find my fudge-mellow deligh! So far, I had eaten Sugar Squares and Chocolate Balls, Caramel Corn and Milky Ways. Uh oh, I could see out of the corner of my eye, A beaming Ethel racing over to me. Her lips were glistening pink, she had been to the little girls room. Was it lip gloss? Yes... o-o-h no. Even though I wasn't as fast, waddled over to a nearby candy maker and ducked down behind it. My breathing was heavy, and I could live without seeing any kind of candy, right then.
" Hello, Juggie! It's your Ethel!" Whispered a voice against my neck. For a second, I thought my heart had stopped. She did NOT just find me!
" Ethel?" I squeaked, cold, clammy sweat dripping down my back.
" Oui oui, mon petite!" Ethel kissed my head.
" GAAAA!" I screamed. Betty,Veronica,Archie, Miss Grundy and all the candy makers turned and looked at the candy maker I was hiding behind.
" Oh, Juggie, what's wrong? I bought you a fudge-mellow delight." Whoops. Nausea kicked in.
(End)

Jackie D:

''All right everyone it's time to go to the candy factory,'' Miss Grundy told everybody. Then Reggie blurted out,'' We might have to keep Jughead on a leash.''Then Jughead's face turned red. You could tell he was embarrassed.''It is okay Jughead,'' Betty told him'' That is Reggie being Reggie." When all of the class got on the bus they drove off.On the bus everyone glared at Reggie. Even Miss Grundy. So when they get there all of the girls start screaming. The people who work at the factory are guys. All of the girls think they are cute. Then the other boys go in a corner and start acting sad. Except Jughead, Dilton, and Moose. Dilton was doing his usual science like stuff. Jughead was staring at the chocolate and the candy. Moose was beating up the boy Midge was flirting with. Then all of a sudden there was a splash. Jughead dived in a huge pool of chocolate. By the time all of the people got there most of the chocolate was gone. Then the owner of the factory saw Jughead in the pool he got really mad. The class got kicked out. Besides Jughead. Jughead got so fat they had to roll him out. When they got back to school Jughead would have gotten detention. But he was too sick.

Hilda:

I also want to say many thanks to all of you for also helping me out when I also add my stories. Thanks for your comments and your help and for making these blogs such a truly wonderful place to hang out. :D

You guys are the best! :D

Hilda:

My fellow bloggy buddies, I posted this comment over at the "Hall of Fame" for the "Santa's helper" story contest winner but before I copy and paste it here, I want to say how proud I am of you guys for helping each other out. Man, that is a wonderful example and thing to do... what else can I say but I'm proud of you guys and I send you a ton of hugs :D **

" ...I understand how you guys may feel. But guys, please be nice. Please don't feel jealous or even sad. I've tried to help you guys out and Katy is doing a wonderful job commenting your stories too over at the "Story starter" to give you guys support. There's lots of cool stories, it just that we can't all be winners at once. The Archie judges are so cool to give people a fair chance to win a contest and they are amazing. They take the time to read our stories and boy there's a lot to read lol. But it is hard for them to pick one winner per week. They said so themselves. (the judges).

So don't feel bad buddies. Keep on writing and have fun doing so. :D If you need any help, let us know and I know I will try my best to help you guys. :D Sooner or later, you guys may win a contest too. :D

Good luck guys and let those creative juices flow.

And I am proud of the rest of you guys for congratulating the winners every time there is a winner announced. You sure are the example of a true winner by congratulating the winners. Now that is very admirable! :D

Many hugs :D **** "

Later bloggy buddies. :D

The Chocolate Caper
By Cori

One crisp February morning, the sun rose over Riverdale High, and poured through the classroom windows onto our beloved Archie Gang. True to form, Veronica tapped her newly-manicured nails against the desktop and wondered when the next big sale at Candy's would be. Betty sat beside her, probably the only one in the RHS Business Class actually paying attention besides Dilton, the scrawny boy sitting across the aisle who was eyeing the blackboard like a heavensent jewel. Archie had a dreamy expression in his eyes as he watched Betty and Veronica, who were probably the only things he ever paid attention to in class. Jughead waved a burger in Archie's face, taking a bite every time he did so. Reggie looked on, patting his black hair and trying to see his reflection in a solid wood desk. However, Ms. Grundy lectured on, completely unaware, it seemed, of everything going on in ger classroom. It was only when she clapped her hands that everyone looked up and focused on her face. "Class." She forced out a smile. "Please pay attention. I have a special announcement." Everyone straightened up in their chairs. Even Reggie looked away from the desk long enough to focus on Ms. Grundy. "Now, I've been trying to get hands-on experience for this particular class for years. Heaven knows if you could use it." She held her forehead in one hand and continued. "So, Mr. Weatherbee, who has a friend in the Riverdale Candy Company-" Jughead let out a squeal. Ms. Grundy sniffed, then continued. "-has persuaded the manager to give us a tour of the place. Our objective here is-"
"To eat as much candy as possible?" chimed Jughead, his mouth watering and his hat hanging off his head. "No, Jughead. Our objective is to learn about the business of making and selling candy. The trip will be tomorrow, so please make sure to get these forms signed." The bell rang, and the class flooded out into the halls. Veronica said, grabbing her mink coat, "Betty, dear. For your sake I hope they have low-fat Valentine's hearts. Wouldn't want to see you making a fool out of yourself around Archiekins." Veronica smiled. Betty forced a grin and said, "You may just want to eat those low-fat candies yourself. That mink coat looks a bit snug." Both girls glared at each other. It was going to be a long trip.

The next day, the bus was parked in the bus lane next to the courtyard of RHS. Archie grabbed Betty's left arm, Veronica's right arm, and sauntered off in between them. When his head turned, the two girls would shoot death glares at each other, then compliment Archie in a syrupy-sweet voice. This got so bad that Archie finally disconnected himself from the two and went to go find Jughead, saying "What has gotten into those two today? I am sick of the niceness." He paused. "I can't believe I just thought that."

The bus pulled up in front of a huge, metal building. A stone sign near the building announced, "RIVERDALE CANDY COMPANY." Jughead's face was pressed into the window, desperately thinking of the sweets that awaited him. Archie grabbed him by the collar and pulled him out of the bus seat. "What a nut," he thought. Reggie walked up to the glass door, and leaned into it, trying to see his reflection. This little charade was cut short when the door flew open, and the manager came out. Reggie was knocked into a shrub nearby, and he lay there for a bit until Betty and Archie carried him to the stone steps. They sat, and listened to the manager. "Hello, I'm Mr. McCrew," announced the manager, with a faint Southern accent. "It's nice to meet ya'all." Dilton brandished a pen, and mumbled, "Nice..to..meet...ya'all," scribbling facts on the notepad he carried in his back pocket. He dotted an "i" with a flourish, then looked up again. The Riverdale kids, after being ushered through the door, found themselves in a corporate sort of room, filled with glass and metal and pinewood. Chocolate hearts were being made and morphed and shaped on little conveyor belts all over the factory. Jughead reached toward a particularly fat one, only to be slapped by Ms. Grundy. "This is our factory," said Mr. McCrewe, gruffly. Betty wandered around, avoiding the curious stair of Veronica, as she sneakily picked up a chocolate heart and, in a thoroughly un-Betty-like way, fed it to Archie as she snarkily looked over at Veronica and winked. "Here, Archie," cooed Betty, "You'll always have my heart." Veronica shrieked, then smiled as everyone turned to look at her. As soon as their eyes averted, she stomped over to Betty and yelled, "WHAT'RE YOU GETTING AT?" "What?" asked Betty, innocently. Her eyes danced. "You know full well WHAT, Little Miss Innocent." Ronnie fumed, and one could almost see the smoke pouring from her nostrils. "Here," she said with a sudden burst of inspiration, "have a HEART, Betty." She picked up a raspberry chocolate cream heart and smushed it in Betty's face. Gasping with disbelief, Betty grabbed a handful of little round sweethearts and hurled them in Veronica's general direction. Archie ran up to the little brawl, his eyes bugging out. "Girls, please! There's enough candy to go around." At this, both girls turned and threw more chocolates at Archie. Jughead managed to catch a few and cram them into his mouth, unnoticed. "Now, kids." The deep voice of Mr. McCrewe entered the fight. "Ya'all can BOTH work here, to pay off those chocolates. Now, who would like a sample of candy? There's plenty to go round." He jammed a worker's hat onto Betty and another onto a disgruntled Veronica, who feared it would muss her hair. Both girls, sulking, wandered into the back room, being carefully watched by Mr. McCrewe. "This stinks," grumbled Veronica, placing latex gloves on her hands. "You said it," agreed Betty, rolling up her sleeves. "My outfit's going to be ruined," fired Veronica. "Mine too," returned Betty. "What?" inquired Ronnie teasingly. "What." intoned Betty. Both caught each other's eye, then fell into huge, hiccupping laughter. They fell against each other, laughing so hard they couldn't stand up straight. Betty finally stood up, wiping invisible sweat from her forehead. Her breathing came in quick bursts. "Sorry-Ronnie-dumb-I-was-" Veronica started to laugh even more, but that was all she needed to do. All was forgiven. Suddenly, the door opened, and two boys came in, dressed in the same clothes as the girls. "Hey, girls. Mr. McCrewe says you're supposed to work here with us. Hope that's not a problem." Veronica and Betty exchanged glances. Two adorable boys. Sweet. Hardworking. One for each girl. Both started laughing again, as the astonished boys looked from girl to girl. They were a sight, the girls, sitting on the floor, laughing until their hats fell off. One of the boys bravely stepped forward. "May I help one of you up?" Both girls each grabbed a hand of his, and boosted themselves up. "You know, Veronica?" Betty turned to Veronica. "Yes, Betty. I'm going to like it here too. Let's get to work, boys!"

“ Class! CLASS!” The stern, grey haired woman yelled, unheard to her chatting students. “ CLASS!” Sighing, her rowdy students turned to her.
“ What a grouch!” grumbled a handsome redhead to the sleek, sophisticated brunette beside him. “ She’s the worst teacher in the school.” He announced the last bit loudly, with a mean look at Miss Grundy, who he knew had heard.
“Archie! Veronica! Be quiet!” Betty scolded, glaring at them. “Listen to Miss Grundy!”
“ Oh, I’m at my wits end!” Miss Grundy sighed. She put her head in her hands and wiped away the tears that were threatening to stream down her 60 year old cheeks. “ I can’t cope with all this.” Her class stared at her unbelievingly. Sure, they knew they were a bit uncooperative and noisy, but Grundy was a tough old bird. Why would she be crying?

“ Hey! Bets! Wait up!” Archie sprinted to catch up with Betty, who had stormed away when the bell rang. “ What’s up, babe?” She whipped around and glared at him.
“ You were mean and inconsiderate to Miss Grundy!” Betty spat, choking down tears of rage. “ Why do you think she was crying, dummy? Because of you!”
“ Naw, Babe, that’s not it!” Archie protested. “ Grundy gets like this every time Valentines rolls around! She always gets sad because she realises she’s never been loved and isn’t married.”
“Aw, I feel so sorry for the old dear,” Betty sympathised. Suddenly her face turned hard and angry. “ If you’re ever abusive to her again, Archie, I’m never speaking to you as long as you live!”

The next day in Miss Grundy’s class Archie was especially polite to Miss Grundy and kept glancing nervously at Betty.
“ Why do you keep looking at Betty?” Veronica demanded, sulking. “ Aren’t I prettier to look at?” Archie tore his eyes away from Betty and to Miss Grundy as she began to speak.
“ Class, We are to be going on a special field trip this Friday,” Miss Grundy announced. “ It is to learn about business and at the same time. Have some,” her face twisted with disapproval, “ fun.”
“ Where are we going?” Jughead, a tall, gangling teen who wore a crown cap and had a deep passion for anything edible.
“ WE are going to go and study how a Factory words,” Miss Grundy smiled, looking forward to teaching her business class haw a factory operated.
“ Fun,” Archie commented sarcastically, then gasping as he remembered Betty’s threat. “ I mean, sounds fun! I love factories!”
“ Unfortunately, “ Miss Grundy continued, “ The 12th grade business class got to go to the clock factory…The 10th grade class to the umbrella factory… I’m afraid we have to go to the candy factory,” She said sourly, under the impression every one would be disappointed. She was therefore surprised when total jubilation broke out.
“ OMG, THE CANDY FACTORY!” Jughead screamed. “ I HAVE ALWAYS DREAMED OF THIS DAY!” Archie kissed Veronica in pure joy, and Betty slapped him in pure anger. Miss Grundy sighed as her students ran wild.

“ Quit pushing, carrot top!”
“ Get a life, jerk!”
“Excuse me coming through!”
“ I wanna sit next to Archie!
“ Well tough luck! I am!”
“ Girls, please!”
“ Are we there yet?”
“ We haven’t even started, dummy!”
“ I’m hungry!”
Miss Grundy covered her ears as the buss slowly filled.
“ I’m so sorry,” She apologized anxiously to the bus driver. “ They’re a bit excited!”
“ Well it’s tough driv’in with noisy brats howling at the top of their lungs, “ The bus driver grumbled. “ I better get a tip!” Miss Grundy gasped at how rude he was and silently sat down in the only empty seat, next to a smart, timid boy named Dilton. The students sand songs for the first 10 minutes, then grew board and silent. Every few minutes Reggie, a wise cracking loudmouth, would yell out a mouldy old joke and everybody would either boo, laugh or, usually, throw something at him. Betty, kind hearted and merciful, laughed at all his jokes so his feeling wouldn’t get hurt. In almost 40 minutes they all arrived at the Swish, Mish, Grish, Tish and Bamble Candy Company.

“ Get off my bus, you noisy kids,” The bus driver snarled, and everyone filed off.
“ This is SO cool!” Archie whispered to Veronica.
“ Big deal,” she sneered indifferently. “ My daddy owns one much bigger then this.”
“ OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT! WE’RE HERE! WHERE THE THING THAT WE LIVE FOR IS CREATED!” Jughead screamed, tearful with emotion. Everyone rolled their eyes. Miss Grundy knocked on the giant steel door. A thin, handsome man answered it. He had the limber body and they smile and completion as a man much younger then his grey hair indicated he was.
“ Hello,” Miss Grundy blushed and smoother her wrinkled coat self-consciously. “ We are the group from Riverdale High for the 10:30 tour.”
“ Charmed,” he smiled, his blue eyes twinkling. “ I’m Roderick Bamble, and I am one of the owners and, for today, have the honour of being your guide.”
“ MR. BABMLE? I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!” Jughead pushed his way to the front and knelt before his idol. “ You are my absolute hero! I love those choco woco pongs you invented! They have just the right amount of sweetness mixed with that subtle creamy taste-“ Archie and Reggie placed their hands firmly over Jugheads mouth and dragged him away. Mr. Bamble stared, totally bemused.

“ This factory is so cool!” Archie enthused once they were inside.
“ Right now is an especially busy time because all the workers are rushing to complete orders for Valentines Day,” Mr. Bamble explained. Miss Grundy gave him a girlish smile and pushed Archie out of the way.
“ This is all so interesting, Roderick,” she giggled.
“ Glad you like it, Miss Grundy,” he gazed deep into her eyes.
“ Call me Geraldine,” She murmured, looking dreamily at him. Someone wolf whistled and they both blushed.
“ On with the tour,” Roderick said hastily.

“ Oh, wow,” Archie gasped, summing up everyone’s feelings as he gazed deep into the swirling tub of chocolate. It was maybe 9 or 10 feet deep and half as wide. Bubbling, frothing, boiling chocolate swirled in it. A worker sat by the many dials and buttons beside it.
“ This chocolate is over 100 degrees hot,” Roderick said impressively. “ Tell you what, if you promise not to tell my competition in the candy making game, I’ll tell you the biggest secret to my choco woco pongs. What do you say?”
“ Tell us! Please tell us!” Everyone chorused, and Veronica got a pen and notebook out of her purse, ready to take notes to give to her Father’s candy factory.
“ It’s a secret my grand daddy taught me when I was six,” Mr. Bamble smiled fondly at the memory. “ WE boil the finest chocolate you could ever find. We heat it up until it melts into a frothing, boiling torrent of chocolate. Then We add some extra cream, a bucket of melted caramel and a dash of hazel nuts. Then we make them into liquid bars. Then we put all the chocolate in a special freezer for 1 day. Then we thaw it out and it is the most delicious thing you will ever taste. It’s the boiling then freezing it. Something about it gives it the best taste in America.”

“ I’m going out with him tonight!” Veronica seethed.
“ No, I am, you witch!” Betty snarled.
“ how dare you!” Veronica screeched, and she gave Betty a hard push. Betty staggered backwards and fell into the boiling chocolate! With a nasty thud her head hit against the side and she sank like a stone, unconscious. Veronica began to scream hysterically.
“ What’s wrong, hon?” Mr. Bamble rushed over to her.
“ b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-etty’s IN TH-THERE!” Veronica blubbered, pointing to the vat of boiling chocolate. “ She hit her head and sank…” Students began to scream and cry.
“ I have to go in after her!” Archie yelled, but Miss Grundy grabbed him.
“ Don’t be foolish, the chocolate is boiling! You can’t!” She insisted.
“ Roco!” Mr. Bamble ordered the worker. “ Turn the fire off, NOW! Quick, or you’re fired!” he turned to the students. “ The fire that boils the chocolate is off, but the chocolate won’t cool down for a long time. HEY, SOMEONE, I NEED A NET!” he bellowed at the workers.
“ Mr. Bamble, she’s unconscious and burning! Someone has to go in after her!” Archie insisted. “ We can’t wait for a net!”
“ It’s to dangerous!” Miss Grundy fretted. “ I forbid any of my students to do it!”
“ I guess that leaves me,” Mr. Bamble observed. He turned to Veronica, who had a cell phone sticking out of her pocket. “ Call 911, young lady. Your friend and I will both need an ambulance!” And with that he dove into the boiling chocolate.

Mr. Bamble screamed as he entered the chocolate, and he swallowed some. The pain was unbelievable, as if he had spilled boiling tea all over himself. He flailed his arms around desperately feeling around for Betting. Everything around him was a murky blur. He wanted to go to the surface, the pain was unbearable. His arm brushed against what felt like hair. Triumphantly he grabbed Betty and was ready to shoot to the surface. But what way was up? Everything was a brown blur… He could actually feel himself burning… He began to black out… He needed air…Then, suddenly, he felt rope brush against his cheek. He grabbed it, unsure if he was doing the right thing.

“ Wait…He’s grabbed it!” A worker yelled, and the 5 workers began to haul the rope up. Mr. Bambles hand appeared, and one of the workers grabbed it and pulled him out of the chocolate. In his arms he clutched an unconscious Betty. They were both covered in chocolate. Mr. Bamble began to scream in pain. An ambulance pulled up outside the factory and fully equipped paramedics burst in and ran to help them.

“So, how are you doing?” Archie asked, sitting on the end of Betty’s hospital bed. She was in a full body cast.
“ Yea, babe. Are you okay?” Reggie questioned, sitting in a chair beside her.
“ I’m fine,” Betty gave them a small smile.
“ Look, Betty, I’m SO sorry,” Veronica apologized. “ It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have pushed you…”
“ I wonder if Mr. Bamble used the chocolate you and him swam around in to make the choco woco pongs?” Jughead mused, inspecting his chocolate bar for blonde hairs. “ If he did, that’s totally gross.” Everyone rolled his or her eyes.
“ I really appreciate you guys spending Valentines Day with me,” Betty thanked them.
“ No prob,” Archie grinned. “ Speaking of Valentines, I have something for you.” With a flourish, he presented her a heart shaped box.
“ Oh Archie!” Betty exclaimed. “Thank you! What’s in it?” Archie grinned mischievously.
“ Mr. Bambles famous choco woco pongs.”

Lindsay:

Everybody in Ms. Grundy’s class at Riverdale high was so excited. They were all going on a field trip to a candy factory, and they couldn’t wait. The bus was leaving in five minutes, and the gang was all together.
“Okay everybody on the bus.” Ms. Grundy ordered as she did a head count of the students. Everybody was there and they pulled away.
They arrived at the candy factory at the exact same time as another group of students. Both groups of students entered the factory, and were directed a conference room where they got a presentation on the business of making candy. At the end there was a question and answer period, and of course Dilton had questions.
But it was the other group of students that had the most questions, and every question they asked was intelligent. Even Dilton and Betty couldn’t come up with the same level of questions. That is until the end when one girl stood up and asked if she could get a hug from a person who brought sunshine into peoples lives everyday. The manager was so flattered that he blushed, and gave the girl a hug.
As the groups left, Betty and Veronica could hear a couple of girls commenting on the last request.
“You know that we can’t go to a field trip without somebody asking for a hug. It always happens.”
“It wouldn’t have happened if this was just for the university level students, we all know that the only ones brazen enough to do such a thing are the ones in the college course.”
“It wouldn’t annoy me so much except that it reflects badly on all of us.”
“Can you imagine what would have happened if Mr. Pritchard was here?”
“He’d question why he never got any hugs! Thank god he had his breakdown or whatever it was!”
Betty was left with a feeling that these students weren’t as good as they appeared to be. They walked into a room filled with candies, and machines.
“Hey Bets! Check out these valentine candies!” Ethel called from across the room.
“Be there in a minute, Ethel!” She turned toward Veronica. “Did you hear those girls?”
“Yes, and to think they were making our school seem bad. Those comments were absolutely catty.”
The Riverdale students were everywhere, staring at the candy; Jughead couldn’t resist and was sneakily gobbling up the candy that was on the conveyer belt in front of him. The manager was giving a speech but the only students paying attention were those from the other school. They all stood in front of the manager in a group and looked like they were listening to him.
Finally Betty heard the manager call out that each student was allowed ten free samples for their model behavior on the field trip.
Betty and Veronica once again overheard the same girls commenting on somebody else’s behavior.
“Can you imagine Devin only taking ten candies?”
“I bet somebody takes pity on him when he starts whining, and whimpering.”
“I don’t mean to sound mean but why does he do that? I can’t have a brownie without him doing that.”
Veronica turned to Betty this time. “What is up with those girls, that’s absolutely cruel.”
“I’m pretty sure it’s called bullying.”
All of the students left the building and the manager complimented both groups on their exceptional behavior there. Betty and Veronica started back towards the bus but somebody stopped them.
“Hi. My names Lindsay, this is Kirsten, Carolyn, Beth, Devin, and Bill.” She introduced the group that had been making comments all day.
“We thought we’d compliment your school on how well behaved and nice you all seemed to be. I think that you were all so much better than us.”
“Thank you. I know this may seem rather rude,” betty replied. “But we kept hearing you making catty comments all day. And I was wondering why?”
“Oh that’s rather easy to explain. You probably heard us about the hug thing. Well that’s a running joke within the college level students, and we’ll be taking it up with them on the bus, we were practicing our points. I mean it’s one thing to ask Romeo for a hug another to ask a plant manager. And the Devin candy thing, is a running joke in our group.” Beth said tiredly.
“We weren’t really being mean, and we always talk to the people about it.”
“I see.” Veronica said carefully. “But it still doesn’t seem very nice.”
“No, you’re right, it’s not. Thank you for being honest with us.” Carolyn said.
“Can you do us a favor I was running if you could introduce us to that red-headed guy over there?” Lindsay questioned.
“Sure.” Introductions occurred and Lindsay chatted it up with Archie for a few minutes. Than all the students went on the buses.
The other bus pulled away as Ms. Grundy was counting heads. Suddenly Ms. Grundy looked worried.
“Where’s Archie? We’re one short.” Everybody looked around and Ms. Grundy even checked inside the plant. She got back on the bus and Veronica’s cell phone started ringing.
“Hello.”
“Hi Veronica this is Archie.”
“Archie! Where in the world are you?”
“apparently I’m on my way 3 hours north. I’ll see you guys sometime soon, but don’t worry I’m having a marvelous time here.” A feminine giggle could be heard in the background.
“I bet you are!” Veronica hung up. And turned to Betty.
“It looks like we were right when we thought those girls were catty!” Veronica fumed.
Betty sighed, it looked like there was even more competition for her.

The Field Trip

Written by: Katy Jinkins

The wind whistled outside the bus where 15 students from the Business Class, were settled excited to go to the Riverdale Candy Company and see how the candy was made.

Veronica: Hi Archikins, Do you like my sweater? It’s llama wool handspun.

Archie: I LOVE it, Ronniekins but you know I would love you wearing anything, Snuggle bunny.

Veronica: Is that right my Sweet Pie?

Betty: Will you two knock it off? This over sweetness thing is getting to me!

Veronica: Oh, ignore her Archiepoo, she’s just jealous of l’l ol me.

Mr. Svenson driving the bus: Viet down yack yere!

Betty: ?

Archie?

Veronica?

Ms. Grundy glares at all three of them: I think he means to remain quiet and in your seats at all times in the bus.

Archie: (Gulp) yes ma’am! There won’t be any more trouble from me.

Reggie leans forward: Trouble attaches itself to you like flies to honey. You’re always tripping over something and making a mess. You’ll never grow out of your klutziness it’s like a disease!

Ms. Grundy: Reginald! Oh, here we are.

The bus pulls up in front of the Riverdale Candy Factory. Jughead starts to drool.

Ms. Grundy: Now class, file out of the bus in single order and wait until I get there to go in. Got it?

All: Yes Ms. Grundy

Jughead gets off the bus. He fidgets. How come everyone is so slow? He thinks can we move any slower?

Finally, the last RHS Business Class student gets off and Ms. Grundy finally, opens the door to the magnificent candy kingdom.

Jughead: Let me at the candy!

Ms. Grundy: not yet Jughead, we first learn how the candy is made so we can appreciate more the candy and the artistry that goes into it.

Jughead: I can’t wait that long! I need candy!

Ms. Grundy: Just try Jughead.

A small man walks up and says, “Oh give him some candy, when you are in my magnificent candy factory, you must always be able to have enough candy to fill your tiny tummies.

Betty: Are you George Frumpelmeyer? The great candy conneseiur of the world?

George: Oui ma chere! Shall we continue Sil vous plait?

Ms. Grundy: Lead on Cutie, I mean Commander!

George takes the class to all of the parts that make up a good candy factory. The designing room, the dyes and finally the machines. Those glorious pieces of metal working in tune to create a symphony of flavor. Archie pauses at the machines.

Archie thinking: I need to get a closer look at those things.

He sneaks off and soon he is at one of the massive holes that candy is put down to be packaged.

Ah this is the life, working in a Candy Factory surrounded by candy and sugar, and cute factory girls Archie thinks leaning back against a precariously balanced pile of boxes full of those message hearts. Arch leans back a little too far, Ka-splat! The boxes fall right into the packages.

Archie: Oh no! There is too much stuff going in at one time. It’s going to blow!

Back at the tour group,

George: And now my friends make yourselves at home and help yourself to some candy compliments of RCC.

Ms. Grundy: You’ve been so kind. Excuse me, do you hear something?

A slight rumble shakes the room making the plates and glasses topple onto the floor.

Betty: It’s an earthquake!

Veronica: Oh no! I’m too young to die!

Archie bursts into the room panting.

Archie: (Gasp) overloaded the (Gasp) Packaging unit! (Gasp) Going to explode (Gasp)

George: if what this boy says is true, we need to take cover. Everyone to room 101.

As they enter the hallway, suddenly Ba-Boom! Message hearts fly everywhere raining down onto everything. Jughead opens his mouth and catches them in his mouth. Everyone is stunned watching as at least one hundred dollars worth of candy rains down upon them.

George: You imbecile! OUT! OUT! Get out of here!

Archie and the gang scurry out clutching their candy.
Faintly heard as the bus leaves, George: And Stay out!

Betty: Well, that was probably the most interesting school trip I’ve ever been on.

Veronica: Yeah it was pretty funny. Did you see the face on that man? It turned red as a beet!

The whole bus erupts in giggles and snorts, but soon quiets down as they see the solemn face on Ms. Grundy, glaring at them.

Ms. Grundy: I’m extremely disappointed in you students. Making fun of that poor man after we ruined his candy? Absurd!

The bus grows quieter and people look at the floor ashamed.

Ms. Grundy starts laughing.
Ms. Grundy: You were right though, Veronica! His face was really funny but I would say it was red as a heart, it fits the theme better.

The tension in the bus brakes up and Ms. Grundy outburst sends some in the bus tittering.

At Riverdale,

The students slowly step down from the bus, reluctant to enter the RHS and continue in their pursuit of knowledge.

Archie: Hey Ms. Grundy! You were really cool today!

Ms. Grundy: Why look so surprised? We teachers aren’t as stiff as we seem.

Archie: I’m just saying that was really nice of you not yelling at me or anything. See you tomorrow!

Ms. Grundy: Thanks enjoy the weekend. Oh, and Archie? I am expecting a 6 page paper on the history of Candy Making on my desk at noon tomorrow.

Archie: aargh!

Anam:

“Finally” says Archie, “we’re at the factory”.
“Ya I know what you mean” replied Veronica “they should really have a law of having bus rides that long”, “oh Veronica, don’t be silly, the view was wonderful, didn’t you like it? Asked Betty, but before Veronica could answer, a cute, tall guy, with wavy blond hair, interrupted their conversation; he looked like he was about their age.
“Ahem, excuse us for the long wait, my dad will be down here in just a sec” he started. “Hi, there” replied Betty, before he could say anything else, and after looking at her, it didn’t sound like he wanted to say anything else, he was too caught up with conversing with Betty.
But faraway Archie was watching, completely enraged as Veronica was complaining about wasting their time. “I can’t believe we came all the way here and…” said Veronica while she tried to get Archie’s attention, but all Archie was paying attention to was Betty, “how could she just walk up to him like that”, “what will people think”, why is she laughing”, “does she like him more than me?” “oh no, I’m losing my girl!!!!” babbled Archie, as he ran up to Betty. Archie spent the whole day trying to get Betty’s attention while jughead tried to sneak some valentine hearts from the factory, but Betty was so caught up with talking to “Mark”, and trying out all the splendid treats that Mark presented to her that she didn’t notice. “THAT IS IT” shouted Archie, grabbing Betty, and “THERE IS NO WAY YOU ARE GONNA GO OUT WITH ANYONE BUT ME”. “But. But… MARKKKKK, CALL MEEEE……………..” Betty tried to shouting but it was no use, Archie had already taken her to the bus. Archie was so enraged that the whole ride back he kept babbling on about how she could even think of leaving him, but that quickly changed as he heard Veronica say into her cell phone “oh Mark, you are so funny”.

Story Starter #25: The Field Trip
Written by (YOU)
Starring: Students from Riverdale High
The students of RHS’s Business Class went on a field trip to the Riverdale Candy Company. Their objective: learn about the business of making and selling candy. When they arrived for their tour, they found the employees busy making Valentine’s treats. The tour didn’t go exactly as planned. You tell us… What Happened?
“Class pay attention and let’s get ready for the tour of Business.” Said Ms.Grundy.
Archie raised his hand.
“Yes?” asked Ms.Grundy.
“Why do some people say Biz instead of business?” asked Archie.
“I’m not sure, let’s carry on.” Said Ms.Grundy.
Betty was furious but didn’t show it. Reggie was her partner for the trip. They were allowed to choose their partners and Archie chose Veronica! She was angry but she didn’t show it.
“So how do i look, Betty?” asked Reggie combing himself!
Betty sighed “you look great Reggie but you don’t need to look good when we’re doing biz.”
“What? Huh? Yeah I know but what if someone famous came in and looked at us, i need to look my best! Anything’s possible!”
Betty sighed and shook her head.
“Follow me please” said Ms.Grundy.
The class followed and saw many employees making valentine chocolates.
Ms.Grundy cleared her throat very loudly and said “Class, this is Bob.” She said pointing to a man who looked 6 feet tall and smelled as if he hadn’t taken a bath for months! “He will give the tour of the factory as well as give us tips on business.”
Dilton was taking notes already while his partner, Jughead was eating a chocolate bar. Jug raised his hand.
“Yes?” asked Ms.Grundy sounding vey annoyed.
“What’s the point of this?? And do we get free chocolate??” asked Jughead drooling.
“The point of this is to learn about business that’s what. Yes, we do get free chocolate.”
“Yippee!’ shouted Jughead and the said “sorry” in a quiet voice.
As they kept on walking Bob pointed to a huge poster, the poster was the cover of a chocolate box. The chocolates they make. Bob said
” We have to have a catchy looking product that will attract attention for the eyes. It has to look good and be interested in what people want to buy today.
They kept on walking and saw an ingredients poster. He pointed again and said “You have to be correct every single ingredient you put in. You have to be honest!”
Just then they heard a huge BOOM! The factory machines stopped working! The lights were off and they thought they started to smell smoke. Bob turned out a flashlight
The students started to shriek!
“Every one calm down and follow me. We’ll go out the fire exit.” Bob started to head toward as the class talked so loud and some were even shrieking!
“CALM DOWN AND NO TALKING!” roared Bob.
They kept on walking and stopped when they heard girls crying and boys weeping.
“BE QUIET!” barked Ms. Grundy.
Then it hit dead silence.
They turned and kept on walking and were almost out of the door when they heard Archie yell!
Mr. Weatherbee turned and cried “For crying out loud, Archie, what is it?”
AS soon as he started to turn he heard the other students screaming at the top of their lungs “FIRE! FIRE! Ms. Grundy, Mr. Weatherbee, LOOK!”
The teachers saw a blaze of fire at the very fire end of the factory.
The alarms started ring out really loud and the students along with Bob and the teachers ran out the exit door.
Firefighter’s truck sirens were coming so fast that it sounded that the sirens were louder than the fire alarm.
30 Minutes Later
The firefighters were pouring huge hoses of water.
It was there lunch period and luckily for them they had picnic tables.
Betty sighed as she saw Archie all wrapped up on Ronnie’s finger.
Betty: What am I going to do???
Dilton: What’s the matter Betty?” As he walked towards her.
Betty: I.....it’s nothing, really it’s nothing.
Dilton: I know what it is. I think I can help.
Betty: How can you help? Even if you did, what’s the point?? Veronica will wrap Archie around her finger the day. What will it matter?
Dilton: How about you throw him a party??
Betty: Nah.
Dilton: Give him an invitation to a secret and romantic dinner at a fancy restaurant for only you two??
Betty: Hey Dil, that’s not such a bad idea. You know what?? I can’t.
Dilton: Why not? Don’t you like it?
Betty: Of course I like it! I love it! It’s just that. I don’t have enough money.
Dilton: I have an idea. I can give some money and a bake sale!
Betty: I will bake my famous cookies. Thanks Dilton! You are the best genius!
Dilton blushed as she ran past him towards the factory. Even past Archie and Veronica.
“What is that girl up to now??” said Veronica fumed.
“Don’t worry about it sugar.” Said Archie.
“Well, I do care. She is always up to something. It is usually BAD news for me.”
Archie: Betty? Come on, she isn’t bad. More like sweet!
Veronica: Hey whose side are you on anyway?”
Archie: Yours of course Ronnie.
Veronica: I know someone who knows what Betty does and what she is going to do. I am going to find out. Bye Archiekins!
Dilton was reading a book about the Big Bang when he heard
“Dilton!!” Veronica said screaming.
“Yes, Ron?’ asked Dilton.
“I know Betty is up to something and YOU are going to tell me!”
“What if I don’t know...? What she is doing?”
“WELL DO YOU?” she asked with a glare on her face.
“Yes, I guess.” Mumbled Dilton.
“Well, what is it then??” asked Ron with her arms crossed.
“I don’t really know it was something ABOUT Valentine’s Day and you with Archie.”
“I knew it! She is trying to take MY Archiekins away from me; well I won’t let that happen.”
She turned and stomped off. She was really red.
MEANWHILE
Betty went near the firefighters and asked if the fire was out.
Firefighter: Yeah, it’s all out. The workers are back making candy.”
Betty: Thanks
She ran inside the factory and hit Bob by accident and they both fell. She got up sheepishly with red all over her face.
Betty: Sorry.
Bob: It’s ok. Here i want you to meet my son Brick. I was just getting the class.
He walked out the door.
Brick had blond curly and perfect pearly white. And pale skin. He looked like a football player and had huge muscles. He was gorgeous! Veronica would so jealous she thought.
Brick: Hi.
Betty: Hello my name is Setty...I mean Betty.
Brick: Did you know how to bake treats or make chocolate?
Betty: Uh-huh. Yes I bake a lot. My friends say I bake really well.
Betty felt like she was on cloud nine!
Right then the class came in.
Bob: This is my son, Brick. I see you have met Betty, Brick?
Brick; Yes.
Bob: He usually comes in and helps the factory.
Veronica (thought): HMPH! So this is why Betty disappeared. She just is jealous I was with Archie. Brick is good looking! She just wants to make jealous. Well I won’t let that happen!
Bob: Let’s continue the tour, shall we not?
Ms.Grundy: Class now let’s hope we don’t have any troubles. And Class please pay attention.

Vicky:

Wow! I can't believe we're finally here! The Riverdale Candy Company!" Archie exclaimed to Betty as they both exited the bus "Yeah! I've been so interested in the candy and how they make it!" Betty said, a brightness in her voice. "I don't care about the company! I only care about the candy" Jughead said smacking his lips. They entered the buildings which's front doors were shaped as a huge dark Chocolate. Everyone looked in amazement at the huge lobby that they had just entered. "Hello! Hello!. Over here" Everyone turned to face a young lady who was waving intently at them. She was the same height as everybody else who had come to visit the Factory. "WOW! That chick is cute!" Reggie exclaimed his face starting to glow. "Except since I'm the greatest I'm the only one is going to date this beauty!" Archie's anger rose in his head. He screamed "Just because you got a good imagination about yourself doesn't mean you're the only whose got a chance" "Oh come on, you thinking you got a chance with this chick is defiantly using a your imagination" Archie knew that Reggie was only being selfish but decided to let this one pass. Once again everyone was talking extremley loud" Excuse me, Excuse me!" the young women shouted. Everyone stopped talking and turned toward the girl. "My name is Sylvia. I will be your guide for the day! We're going to have gloriouse time here!" Now everyone follow me. First we're going to the sampling room. All of you will be able to test some of the candy that we're gonna be putting out on the market for Valentines day" Veronica then ran up beside Archie and said in a whisper "Hey, Archie. Why don't you and test the candy together, eh" Archie started to fell uncomfortable "I….aaaaahhh might actually do it with Betty!" He then ran over to Betty who was busy chatting with Midge. "Aaaaaahhhhh Betty" Archie started to say "Yes, Archie" Betty answered "Why don't you and I partner up to try the candy, if want to." Archie finished "WHY, I'd love to Arch" Betty said excitintly. Veronica steamed after she what just happened. 'Well, if Betty wants to play hog Archie, I might just play along"

"Now here is the sampling room and as you see we have lots of selection coming out this time of year. Now go and send your taste buds on a journey!" Everyone franticly ran around trying to taste all the candy they could. While this was happening Veronica was making her own plan 'I'll just push this table over without being noticed, then I'll be able to delay the tour, and then I will be able to spend more time with Archie while they clean this up. I'm such a geniouse!" Veronica then procceded to knock the table down, however she had failed to notice what was on the table. There was a small metal ball and 3 boxes of chocolate. She knocked over the table and then said "Ooops, my mistake! Sorry about that" Suddenly Sylvia pushed her way through the crowd. She screamed "STOP THAT BALL!" But it was too late the ball had rolled out of the room, down the hall and into a huge chocolate cantaner. Sylvia starred at the chocolate that the ball had fallen into. Anger rose in her head as she turned and screamed "WHO DID THAT!" Everyone pointed at Veronica. She looked around trying to find a place to hide. 'Oh well, guess I'll have to live with it.' Sylvia starred at Veronica and calmly said "Do you know what just fell in there?" Veronica looked at Sylvia and answered "No" Sylvia started to explain " Well the thing is that you just knocked over something very valuble. The secret reciepe for the SPECIAL VALENTINES DAY CHOCOLATEs! Now you are diving in there and getting it out" Veronica turned pale "You want me to dive into that goop and bring out some stupid formula!" Sylvia looked at and said calmly "Yes, even if it takes all of your life" Veronica sighed "All right"

Half an hour later
Sylvia looked at Veronica up and down "You look all right!" Veronica was covered in Scuba Gear. "I guess so. Well, wish me luck" and she dived down

10 minutes later
Veronica was still lookin for the ball. At last she found it and returned to the surface "Found it" she said Sylvia grabbed the ball and exclaimed "How didyou find it?" Veronica smiled "Lets just say it took a lot of fast action"

Inside the bus to the Riverdale Candy Company...

Everyone was so exited for the Candy Company field trip that no one, I repeat, not ONE student could stay in their seats. Music was playing blast-off-level-loud. This is what the gang was doing:

Betty - boogieing in the aisle
Ronnie - dancing the tango with Archie
Archie - Doi!!!
Reggie - glaring at the clean windows because he couldn’t see himself
Juggie - eating a hot dog

“This is SO exciting!” said Veronica.

“mffyaammf.” said Jughead. He swallowed his hot dog with a gulp. “Excuse me. I said ya.” he said.

“Oh stop. Giggle!” said Betty.

Just then the bus stopped with a big screech and everyone fell down with a THUD!!!

“Hey we’re HERE!” hollered Archie. “YAY!!!”

Everyone dashed into the company faster than the speed of gravity. They all came to a screeching halt when they found a group of kindergartners sampling Valentines Day candies.

“Hey! Aren’t WE supposed to sample those?” asked Ronnie.

“Yeah!” Archie said.

“Oh, were leaving now.” the kindergartener’s teacher quickly replied.

“Well hurry up. My tummy’s rumbling.” said Jughead.

“Hi kids.” said a business man. “Come with me and I’ll show you the business room.”

They wandered to a door with a sign. The sign said ‘CAUTION’! “Cot, ie, on.” said Ronnie. “Cotieon?”

“Caution. It says Caution.” said Betty.

The class entered the room. There was a loud gasp. “The sweets! T-there gone!” cried Betty.

“Mr. Marys, someone stole our snacks!” a cook yelled.

“You can always make more.” Ronnie replied smoothly.

“Everything was taken! Wahhhh!!!” sobbed Jughead.

Then Nancy noticed a man hurrying down the hall. She looked at his pocket and… “BINGO! After him!” she hollered.

Everyone ran after the man. He turned to look back at them, tripped over a foot and… “GOT HIM!” yelled Nancy. That foot had been hers. She had tripped him.

They all looked in his pocket and there was the missing stuff! The man was taken away by the police and everyone had a candy party in honor of Nancy.

On the way back to school, Ronnie said to Nancy: “What will you be when you get a job?”

Nancy smiled a mysterious smile. “A detective.” She said.

So far, the tour had been a great success. Ms. Grundy was beaming with pride when the manager had told her that her students had been so well mannered. They had all listened attentively when the manager had spoken and Dilton had even asked intelligent questions to which the manager had answered but not before praising his intellectual mind.
Ms. Grundy stood by Mr. Weatherbee as he stared lovingly at the pictures of numerous candies displayed on the walls. This would perhaps be the first field trip in the history of fieldtrips when everything was fine and without a single mishap.

Betty let out a deep sigh. Valentine’s Day was coming up and she still hadn’t come up with a gift to give Archie. She stared at Veronica and let out another sigh. She would probably give him something expensive that would make Archie forget there was ever a girl named Betty. Betty walked with the others as they made their way into the manufacturing department.
The first thing that came into Betty’s mind was the book she had read ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. There were thousands of people (unfortunately not loompa’s) working around machines and conveyor belts. She could smell caramel, melted chocolate and cotton candy. This was pure heaven: candy heaven. Her mouth started to water as she saw melted chocolate being poured in moulds and she glanced sideways at Jughead.
The manager was saying something, but this time no one listened. Not even Dilton! They all made their way to different tables eyeing the candies hungrily. Behind her she could hear Ms. Grundy gasping.
“Jughead…Jughead!” She called out and ran towards him.
Betty looked around and saw Veronica making her way to another table. “Chocolate gold coins! Interesting! But have you ever considered making gold credit cards?”
“Archie!” Jughead exclaimed. Betty turned around and saw Jughead clutching Archie’s shirt. “That’s…that’s burger shaped candies! Can you see it?”
“Yes, Jug…but…” Before Archie could say another word, Jughead sprinted off to where the burger shaped candies were being made.
Betty smiled. Now she could finally be with Archie. “Oh, Archie…” she called out.
“Hey, Bets! Nice place, huh?” Archie said distractedly.
“I just wanted to ask you what you were doing on Valentine’s…”
“Is that caramel toffee’s over there?”
Betty looked to where Archie was pointing. “Yes…but…”
But Archie was already making his way over there. Betty sighed. Just then, the manager came up behind her.
“Anything wrong?” he asked.
“Er…no!” Betty said. “I was just wondering if you’re coming up with something special this Valentine’s.”
“Ah, yes!” the manager said and led her to another section. “The best candy ever made!” he said pointing out to a tray of baked candies.
“This looks good!” Betty replied, and they were! The pink candies were heart-shaped and transparent. She could see a thin coating of what appeared to be cotton candy and a tiny ball of chocolate.
“This is a special recipe. Go ahead and try one!” The manager said.
Betty carefully picked one up and placed it in her mouth. The candy seemed to melt in her mouth and she could taste the rich strawberry cream and chocolate pouring down her throat. “This is good!” she said when she had finished.
“It’s a top secret recipe!” the manager said proudly. “Oh excuse me! Ms. Grundy is calling me.” The manager left as Betty came up with an idea. She could make these candies at home and gift them to Archie. After all, the way to a man’s heart was his stomach.
She stood behind the workers hoping to see the way they were making these special candies. Unfortunately, the workers were operating in a close group and Betty couldn’t see the way they were making these candies. All of a sudden she heard the fire drill. The power was suddenly cut off.
“Oh no!” Ms. Grundy cried out.
“But, Ms. Grundy…I was just showing the chef how to make barbecued flavored burger candies.”
“Everyone out!” the manager shouted.
Obediently, the workers quickly formed a line and started to leave out the exit door.
Betty started to go out with the others when she stopped herself. She wouldn’t be able to see how the candies were going to be made but she could make a list of ingredients. She pushed her way past the students and workers and made her way to the table.
This would be stealing, her mind screamed. Maybe she should just wait till the candies came into the market and she could just buy a packet…no! Archie would know she hadn’t made them and he wouldn’t appreciate a $2 packet of candies or whatever they were going to be priced at.
She followed the conveyor belt to a huge bowl where everything was being mixed. She frowned as she saw that the ingredients were already mixed in. Never mind! She could still identify the ingredients. She hauled herself on the rim of the bowl and leaned over. She had just put her finger on the doughy mixture, when suddenly, the power came back on and the bowl started to spin. Betty let out a gasp as she fell in.
She was about to scream, when she realized that she would be severely punished if everyone found out that she was still inside and worst of all- stealing recipes. Everyone would hate her, including Archie. She’d rather just be mixed in with all the candy! She closed her eyes as the bowl started to spin faster. Suddenly, the bowl stopped spinning. It stopped with such a jerk, that Betty almost fell over.
She felt someone pull her out and bring her down. Betty fell on her knees and sobbed. “I…I’m…”
“Are you okay?” Reggie asked.
Betty looked up and wiped her tears. “R-Reggie? W-what are you doing here?”
“I was in the… er…washroom, combing my hair…” Reggie said. “Why are you still here?”
“I-I was…uh…I tripped and fell over.”
Reggie looked at her like he didn’t believe her. “Okay! Come on, let’s go!”
Once outside, Betty was relieved to find that everyone had still not gotten into the bus. Ms. Grundy was lecturing Jughead about misbehaving while Archie was whispering to Ronnie about the delicious caramel toffees he had just tasted.
Finally, they had all gotten into the bus.
Veronica sat next to Betty.
“So what are you giving Archie on Valentine’s day?” she asked.
Betty looked back at Archie and smiled. “Something definitely in caramel!”

Jug: "What about those bright red bricks? What is behind there? Oh ya and who are you if i might add so bluntly?"

PART 2

After a disinfecting experience, the gang looked very professional with their white robes, white hairnets, gloves and white foot covers, they practically looked like experts ready to handle anything that's dished out to them...er...or so to speak.

Veronica: "I can't believe they're making us wear these...these...these HIDEOUS clothes."
Nancy: "Typical"
Veronica: "MS GRUNDY.."-Veronica shouted as she made her way through her classmates-"Ms Grundy"
Ms Grundy: "Yes Veronica...is there a problem"
Veronica: "I need to change these clothes, pronto"

The tour guide turned around and looked at Veronica and said "I'm afraid that's out of the question, these clothes are made especially to prevent bacteria from going into the candies"
Veronica: "well I can assure my bacteria is very unique and special...not to mention very very clean!"
Tour guide: "um...okay.But still.."

The tour guide quickly noticed what Veronica is like and found the perfect response to keep her quiet-"Did I mention that these clothes are the latest fashion for candy factories?"
Veronica: "Really? Well do they come in other colors?"

Meanwhile, back with the rest of the gang...

Jughead: "I'm telling you Betty, this is my calling, I can change the world, I can save many lives, I can promote world peace.."
Betty: "By working in a candy factory? Maybe this wasn't thought through very well Juggy."
Archie: "Please Betty, just play along...trust me"
Jughead: "Has anyone else realized how quiet Reg is? And everybody knows a quiet Reg is a premeditating Reg"

Tour guide: "Okay class here you can see the ingredients of the candy being mixed..."
Dilton: "Excuse me...but what chemical components are use and why?"
Tour guide: "Good question..."
Jughead: "Listen Arch, I'm ditching.."
Archie: "Jughe..."

Jughead ducks out of sight, with intentions of finding the manager and impressing him or her. All the kids could still see him trying to stay out of sight and heading towards the side door...
Chuck: "What we have here is a very mission impossible moment"
Archie: "Indeed" *sigh*
Betty: "You okay Arch? You seem down"
Archie: "I slept late last night and my dear pal woke me up 5 am"
Betty: "Gee..."

Eventually Jughead got to the door and opened it, much to his surpise it had lead to a long, dark hallway...not to mention empty.
Jughead: "Well this isn't something I expected to see in a factory...Gosh it's dark, maybe I can use the light on my cellphone"

Jughead walks slowly down the hallway hoping to find a door that leads to the manager or even outside. He had a feeling of isolation and worry inside him, but remained optimistic by thinking of all that candy.

The hallway walls were something significant, they seemed to be completely soundproof, Jughead couldn't hear any of those noisy machines he heard while he was with the gang. Also they weren't painted, and right at the center of the wall the bricks were bright red and not just maroon.

Jughead: "How peculiar, why would anyone have in a wall different colored bricks?"
Reggie: "I asked myself that very same question"
Jughead: "REG!..you scared the light outta me. What are you doing here?"
Reggie:"Avoiding a long humdrum lecture that's what."

Elsewhere...
Nancy: "Gee it smells realy nice in here. Jughead must be fighting his senses to the utmost extent"
Midge: "You said it...he seems pretty quiet though."
Moose: "Hey look chocolate icing..mmmmmm"

Archie: "I have a feeling..."
Ron: "Oh oh"
Betty: "What kinda feeling Arch?"
Archie: "One that spells trouble, I think I'll ask to go the bathroom"

Back to Reggie and Jughead
Jughead: "Well what do you think it is? I mean what's the point of this? Decor?"
Reggie: "That's highly doubtful my friend, shall we investigate"
Jughead: "No Reg...it's not our business"
Reggie: "Come on Jug, all these years in the TSI team and you haven't learnt that it always is our business when it comes to helping someone and cracking a case?"
Jughead: "Reg it still seems out of place."
"And it is..."-said a strange voice-"Boys let me escort you to my office"

fifteen minutes later...

Jughead and Reggie are sitting in dim office feeling disoriented, they do not know their specific location but they do know this much...something wierd is up.
Reggie: "OKay Jug here's the plan..."
Jughead: "No Reg! I'm looking to find a job here not getting kicked out."
Reggie: "Jug..."
Jughead gets up abruptly and bursts-"No excuse me, excuse me...Pardon my French Reg...but this is a very important opportunity to me and I am not going to blow it"
Reg: "uh Jug, I didn't want to disagree with you, just wanted to show you that you pushed a button with your elbow and these screens behind you were exposed"
Jug: "Cool...and perfectly normal!"
Reg: "look its Arch, he's at the wierd brick spot..and there's that wierd guy that spoke wierdly and took us into his wierd office"
Jug: "Stop saying wierd Reg"

Chuck: "This is great, free candy WOOHOO!"
Betty
