Story Starter: Week 15 – That Was A Dream?!?!

storyHi guys! A couple of weeks ago, I made the mistake of letting Betty write the Story Starter… without my help. What did she do? She gave us Ronnie’s Worst Nightmare! Ha ha. Very funny.

I decided I owe her one… so this week, YOU get to write something fun and wild about HER. Ready? Okay, here goes…

That Was A Dream?!?!

Starring Betty Cooper

By Veronica Lodge and (your name here)

On the night before school started, Betty was kinda nervous. I, Veronica Lodge, was with her, so I know. We went to Pop’s and she ate a meatball sub, onion rings and a double dish of chocolate ice cream WITH hot fudge sauce. Then she got a stomach ache, so she went home, laid out her school clothes, read her blog comments and went to bed.

That night she had a dream about her first day back to class… and let’s just say it was FAR from typical! This is what happened…

Okay, all you writers. You ought to have FUN with this one! Are you ready?

Story Away!

Dream Gone MAD!!!

Betty tossed and turned. She moaned as she glanced at her clock which said 12:06am. Betty had tried going to bed early, or 10:18 to be exact, so she could be well refreshed for the 1st day of school. Although after all of the junk food she had eaten with Ron at Pop’s, she doubted she would ever get to sleep again. Soon, she finally drifted into La-La land. Almost an instant later, though, she was jerked out of sleep by the honking of a horn. Betty rolled her eyes as she saw that her clock said 1:00am exactly. She put on her purple robe and looked out her window. “C’mon Elizabeth! If we don’t hurry Mr. Grundy will bust our beefs, yo!” Betty stared at her best friend in disbelief. Veronica was wearing a red hoodie, baggy trousers, tennis shoes, and was driving a green pick-up truck. “Ron! Do you know what time it is!?!” Betty called down to Veronica. “Of course I do! It’s school time silly. Oh, and remember my name is Veronica. Not Ron.” Veronica called back. Betty tiredly got dressed in a light blue T-shirt and jeans as she tried putting together what Ron was talking about. As she got in the truck, she asked Veronica, “Uh, are you feeling alright today Veronica?” Before she could answer, Jughead popped up in the back of the seats and said, “Actually she is feeling rather perplexed at the fact that her father is away at Broadway for a fortnight.” “Forsythye! He means my dad is away for two weeks on Broadway.” Veronica explained. “You mean on business?” Betty asked as they pulled into the parking lot of their school. “No, of course not. What’s wrong with you today? He’s the tech guy of the shows.” Veronica answered as they walked into the halls of Riverdale High. Then, Betty saw Archie opening his locker without any trouble! She rushed up to him and said, “Hey Archie. What are you doing?” with a grin on her face. “Elizabeth, I told you to call me Archibald. I am waiting for Reginald so we can go to dance class.” He answered walking away with Reggie. “Dance class?” Betty called after him. “That’s odd. Yesterday he told me he’d rather die than go to dance class.” she muttered to herself. As Betty was going into Cliff Studies, a tall, slim lady with lots of lush brown hair stopped her and said, “Good day Elizabeth.” “G-good day, uh, M-s. W-e-a-t-h-e-r-b-e-e.” Betty said reading the lady’s name tag. She hurried into Cliff Studies. “Good day class.” Mr. Haggly said in his deep manly voice. “Today we will study cliff patterns. I need a volunteer to jump off Pointyrocksatthebottom Cliff.” All of the hands went up except Betty’s. “How about you Betty.” Mr. Haggly said pointing to her. “No! NO!” Betty yelled as the class pushed her to the edge of Pointyrocksatthebottom Cliff. She fell and fell, and the next thing she knew she was on the floor in her bedroom. “Whew. It was only a dream.” Betty sighed as she looked at her clock which said 3:24am. As she climbed back into bed she knew that the 1st day of school is unpredictable and she would just have to roll with the flow.

Opposites attract

Betty and Veronica stopped by Pops for a late snack. “Boy, I’m staving!
Archie’s Base-ball game lasted forever!” Betty grumbled.
“What are you going to order? I'll ordering a small soda! Oh and I’ll pay for your food too.” Veronica asked.
“Pops!” She called him over.
“I’ll have two jumbo burgers, A extra large soda, a big bag of chips, a hotdog and a jumbo max sized Sunday with oodles and oodles of whip cream and sprinkles. Oh, and Veronica will have a small soda.”
Betty smiled. “Betty! Why are you ordering so much?”
“Simple! You’re paying!” Betty said sweetly.
When Betty got home she got a HUGE tummy ache. “Goodnight Betty, I bet you can’t wait for school tomorrow!” Ms. Cooper giggled sweetly.
Soon, Betty fell asleep. When she woke up, she was at school. “Weird.”
She said to herself.
She saw Veronica then. “BETTY! BETTY! HI BETTY!” Veronica screamed happily.
“Guess what?? Guess!!! Guess!!!!” Veronica shrieked.
“W-what?” Betty said, a bit frightened.
I GOT PICKED TO WASH THE BLACK BOARD! I CAN’T WAIT! Then, I dump the trash
and then I help my mom with the garden!!! I’M SO EXCITED!!!” she screamed
happily.
“Veronica, you hate doing all those things!” Betty said surprised.
“I LOVE doing those… Oh, look, it’s Archie.” She said with a growl.
“Hello Betty! Want to go out with me tonight? And tomorrow night? And the
next night? And…”
“AHEM!” Veronica said madly.
“Oh, Hi Veronica! I didn’t see you!”
“GO AWAY, ARCHIE ANDREWS! You took me for granted! I baked for you and everything! You ignore me for other girls!” Veronica screamed.
“Whatever you say Ron… And Betty, the Proms coming up! Wanna come with me?”
Archie asked hopefully.
“Sure Archie,” Betty said, still trying to figure out what was going on.
“YESS!!! YESS!!! BETTYS GOING TO THE PROM WITH ME!!!!!” Archie screamed
excitedly.
Then Betty went to her first class and she saw Jughead, dressed up in a
suit! “Jughead, why are you in a suit? “ Betty asked.
“You know, dear Betty I always dress neatly,” he said snobbily. Ethel walked in the room. Jughead rushed up to her. “Oh please, Ethel!! Go to the Prom with
me! I’M BEGGING YOU! I’ll DO ANYTHING!” he pleaded.
“Jughead, you’re always chasing after me! No and a thousand times, no!” She
growled. Jughead starting crying like a baby. “THIS IS TOO WEIRD!” thought
Betty.
Ms Grundy came in the room. “Wassup ya’ll? Do whatever ya please today,” she said lazily.
She kicked off her shoes and put her feet on her desk. So everybody rushed out of the classroom. Betty slowly followed. Reggie went up to her. “Oh Betty! You’re beautiful! And so is everybody! Laalalaalaa! I’ve been meaning to tell
everybody that they’re so perfect!” Reggie said happily.
Then Betty saw Moose and Midge. “Duuhh..Hi Betty.” Midge said.
“Hello Betty!” Said Moose.
“I’ve been helping Midge with reading. But her head is always in sports!”
Moose sighed. Betty gasped, now she KNEW something was wrong. She realized that everybody was there opposite!
Then she saw someone rollerblading though
the halls. It was Mr. Wheatherbee. “WOOOOHOOO!!! RADICAL!” He screamed as he zoomed past the halls.
Then she saw a crowd of girls crowding around someone. She pushed her way though the crowd and saw Dilton!
“EEEEK!! DILTON! PLEASE GO OUT WITH ME!” someone shrieked.
The girls where shrieking like crazy. “Please girls.” He smiled.
Then Betty woke up. “Maybe that wouldn’t be so bad after all….” She said out loud, thinking of Archie.

Victoria C:

That same night Betty starts snoozing and then she wakes up realizing she's late and sprints down to school. As she is running,a truck zooms by and splats mud all over her new outfit. Sad,she enters the school building with everyone noticing her.
Then she tries to ask Archie out when He sadly replies,"Sorry Bets,I've got a date with Ron for the rest of eternity." "That's right Betty dear." "NOOOOOOOOOO!"
BBBRRRIIINNNGGG goes off her alarm clock and she soon wakes up relieved.

That was a dream?!
Starring Betty Cooper
By Veronica and Sydney

"Hey Bets, let's pop over to pop's now that we're done shopping!" said Veronica putting her new clothes into her enormous closet.
"Uh.. yeah, sure, Ron," replied Betty with a worried look on her face.
"What's wrong, Betty? Don't say it's Archie- I only had three dates with him this week!"
"Oh, not that... just tomorrow," said Betty.
"Well, let's get to Pop's, a large hot fudge sundae is waiting for you!" said Veronica with a smile.

At Pop's:
"Hi there, Betty! What can I get you today?" asked Pop cheerfully.
"Uh.. I'll have a meatball sub, pop," said Betty.
"What about your chocolate hot fudge sundae?" asked Veronica.
"O-ok. Uh, Pop? Could I also have a chocolate hot fudge sundae?"
"Sure, Betty- comin' right up! Would you like anything Veronica?"
"Hm. I'll just have some vanilla ice cream, Pop." she said nonchalantly, "So Betty- is it just school you're worried about? Personally I would worry about the latest fashion. You all know that I just can't stand it when another girl has my dress. That's why I shop at designer stores- fabulously expensive you must know. No siree, no girl is going to steal my thunder this time!" Ron said, and went on and on about what Betty should be wearing.
"Here is your sub, and your sundae, Betty, say- are you feeling alright?"
"I'm fine, Pop, thanks"
The entire time Ron was talking, Betty was eating. She ended up eating the sub, onion rings, and two sundaes.

Later...
"Urf- Ronnie, I'm stuffed... I- I think I'll go home now," said Betty.
"Yes, yes, Betty dear. Would you like a ride home?"
"Nah, I'll walk," she said going out the door.
That night Betty picked out her school clothes, checked her blog comments, and went straight to bed. She fell asleep right away and started dreaming. She dreamt of the first day of school.

The dream:
Betty put on her school clothes and dashed out the door.
"I hope I'm not late on the first day!" she exclaimed.
When she got to school, there was a huge banner on the outside saying: Hi Betty! Welcome back! We missed you! She looked at it and wondered why it was there, but then Archie came out of the building.
"Hi Arch!" said Betty.
"Oh, Betty! It's you that I've always wanted!" he exclaimed.
"What, huh? Oh- I mean, that's great Archiekins," she said as she noticed Veronica joining them.
"Well, hello Bets! Won't you come in? You two look so cute together!" she said. They all went inside and Betty noticed a new face... a very... different face.
"Betty, Archie," she said looking at the new boy, "this is my new boyfriend!" she looked at him admiringly, "now Ned, say hello to Archie and Betty!"
"Pfff. Hellow Arpfie and Betthy. My nameth Ned! I'm Feronica'th boyffriend! Now come along, Feronica! Carry my bookth!" he said.
"Yes, Ned!!" said Ron- starstruck.
Betty was totally confused.
"Now let's get to class, sweets," said Archie.
"Uh... Okay, Arch! What's our first class?"
"Candymaking of course!" he exclaimed.
"Now come in, class! Anyone who's late will get a sugar gum drop as punishment!" said Miss Grundy, "Now then, is everyone here?"
"Yes, Miss Candy!" the entire class answered. Betty looked around at everyone in shock.
"Now let's start our daily lesson! Mr. Gummy Bear! Can you tell me what the main ingredient in candy is?"
"Sugar, Miss Candy!" answered Jughead.
"Oh dear. I'm afraid that is incorrect! I will have to give you a lollipop as detention!" Miss grundy scolded, "Now, class, what is the real main ingredient in candy?"
"Love! Love!" answered everyone else.
"Very good, sweeties!" she answered sickeningly sweetly.
Betty was totally lost.

Later...
Riiiingadingaling!
"Oopsie dumdums! It's time for lunch, class! Have a good time!!" said Miss Grundy.
Betty's head was spinning when she left the classroom.
"Now, to the lunchroom, Bets!" said Archie cheerfully.

At the lunch room...
"Pick a table, Bets!" he said pointing to the candle lit tables with pure white tablecloths.
"Uhhh.... that one," said Betty pointing to a table near the front.
"Good choice sweets!" said Archie snapping as he sat down.
"Goodness, Archie! Why are you doing that?" asked Betty- her head still spinning.
"I'm snapping for a waiter of course!" he replied.
A waiter in uniform was at their table shortly.
"Bring me and my girlfriend some of your best sweets and candy drinks my good man!" said Archie.
"Yes sir Archibald," answered the waiter.
"Uh... Archie? I just wanted a soda and whatever cafeteria food there was today! And why are we sitting at these tables? What happened to the normal tables?" asked Betty, totally confused still.
"Soda? Cafeteria food? We are not destitute! Besides, candy is the most nutritious meal there is! And what normal tables? This school has used these since we've been born! Where have you been Betty?" he asked, then the candy was brought to the table.
Betty and Archie ate in silence for awhile. Betty was slowly nibbling at her candy, and had a terrible stomachache afterwards.
"Would you like some more, luv?" asked Archie.
"Uhh... no. I'm just... fine," answered Betty wincing at the sickening candy in front of her, "Um... I think I need to powder my nose- excuse me..." said Betty.
When Betty got into the girl's bathroom, there were birds in there flying all around, ruining her hair. Then Veronica came out.
"Well, hello Betty dear! Don't you think these birds do lovely things to my hair? It's the latest fashion you know, and no girl is going to steal my thunder now!" said Ronnie with very tangled up hair, "In fact, I brought a whole zoo in here so I could look as best as possible!!" exclaimed Ronnie with dozens of animals coming out of the stalls.
Betty gasped and ran out of the room, suddenly the entire school was made out of gingerbread, and Ms. Grundy turned into the sweet old lady and offered Betty some ginger bread.
"Here you are, Betty dear! Take some, take some!" said Ms. Grundy.
"No!!!" screamed Betty.
Riiiiiinnnng! Riiiiinnnngg! Riinnnnggg!
"Is that the bell? Which class is next? What?-" Betty sat upright in her bed and looked at her phone, it was ringing. She picked it up and answered.
"Hello?" asked Betty groggily.
"Hi, It's Ronnie. I'm outside to pick you up so you don't have to walk- hurry up!" click, she hung up.
Betty quickly got dressed and was out the door.
"Hi Bets! So are you nervous for school today? I couldn't sleep all night!" said Veronica.
"Oh, I'm looking forward to it now!" Said Betty, "say, what's our first class?" asked betty.
"Oohh! It's great! We have cooking first period! Guess what we're making?" she asked.
"What?"
"Candy," Veronica said with a smile.

End

That Was A Dream?
Starring:The School Nurse, Betty's Mother, and Betty Cooper
By: Veronica Lodge and Lydia

That night, she couldn't fall asleep. She laid there in the darkness looking straight up at the ceiling, not feeling well at all. Finally, she decided to close her eyes and just rest, but right at that very same moment, she started to count sheep and mumbled their numbers out loud. Then, the sheep turned in to college guys, and then into old grandpas! She then woke up screaming her head off.

The next morning, her alarm didn't go off! So, she woke up half-an-hour later then was supposed to! She ran to the shower, not thinking of what to do, and fell down the steps.(Good thing it was a carpeted stair!) She got back up the steps to the shower. When she got in the shower, no HOT water was left, so she had to take a COLD shower. Betty ran back to her room and found out that all of her clothes were dirty! So she had nothing to wear. 10 min. later, her clothes came out, but Betty was late for school! She ran down the steps, grabbed her breakfast, and got on the bus fine. She wasn't late, but that all running made Betty soooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired! She got to school okay, but since she ran, she didn't feel too good again.

Betty got to her locker, after tumbling all over the school, she put her books away, and got to her first class.

The school day was over, but she finally decided to ask the nurse for her mom to pick her up anyway.

THE CONVERSATION

THANX JULIA! UR STORY WAS CUTE 2=]

That Was A Dream?!?!
Starring Betty Cooper and Sabrina Spellman
By Veronica Lodge and Superteen

Giving a great sigh, Betty laid down in her bed. Tomorrow was the first day of school: tests, homework and getting up early. Not only that but she had also gotten summer homework; can you believe that? Summer homework over…well… the summer!! She had done it all but was dreading handing in her less than marginal art assignment.
“Wouldn’t it just be great to have magical powers? To zap up all your A+ assignments? You’d have so much more time to do other things. Lucky Veronica got one of her maids to do it! Wouldn’t it be great! - Wouldn’t it…” she slowly nodded off.
***
Sabrina’s House-
It looks like Betty isn’t the only one nervous about school. At the Spellman household Sabrina smiles as she flips through her school yearbook.
“Just look how much fun Archie and the gang have together,” then she’s quiet, “They’re on almost every page. All laughing and getting into mischief! Gosh, I wish I were popular like that! They’re always having fun and goofing off!”
Slamming shut her yearbook Sabrina slumps upstairs, “I’m always so cautious to get close to people in case they find out I’m a witch! I always have to worry about people getting suspicious. Being a witch is even harder than being a mortal I bet! Hmm… well I’m a witch, why don’t I just see for myself!”
Then looking at her class photo she wondered, “I can switch places with one of the gang! But who? Veronica would be a complete disaster!!”
“Muahahah! Now that I’ve changed all of Riverdale citizens into my slaves now to take over… the world!!!” Veronica cackles.
“Oh gosh no!!!” Sabrina cries, “What about Big Ethel?”
“Hey, Veronica don’t tell anyone but I’ve got magical powers! Oh and Juggiekins…” Ethel gushes.
“Absolutely not! Big Ethel’s got a big mouth! I might as well just grab a megaphone and announce it on top of the water tower! And poor Jughead would suffer greatly!” Sabrina sighed, “Oh rats! It looks like I might as well just forget about the whole idea! Who could I trust to keep it secret and not blow up all of Riverdale?”
Then at that very moment a photo of Betty fell out of the yearbook. On the back it read:
Dear Sabrina,
If you ever need someone to talk to, you can count on me or anyone else in the gang. You’ll always have friends in Riverdale!
Your Friend,
Betty
“Betty!!!! Of course, why didn’t I think of her to start with! She’s perfect!” Grabbing out her spell book she cast a spell,
“Magical powers, hear my plea
Make me switch places with Betty
But by the morning turn back time
To this very night’s twelfth chime!”

“Phew, that was a pretty shabby rhyme but it’ll do! Now to sleep and perchance to dream… and this should be one interesting dream!” Sabrina giggled.
***
Rrrrring!
“Ack! What was that?” Sabrina asked, “Oh, cool, an alarm clock! I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have one of these! Normally my body alarm clock wakes me up automatically! Well, it looks like the spell worked! But why does my stomach feel so awful? I’ve never felt like this before. I wonder how Betty’s going to react…”
***
Betty slowly turned over in bed and tried to cuddle up with her bear.
“Huh? Where’s my bear?” Betty asked when she couldn’t feel him.
“Aren’t you a little old to be sleeping with bears”, asked a voice.
“Well, that’s a matter of opin-” Betty turned around and was face to face with Salem, the Spellman’s cat. Betty’s mouth opened and closed several times. Then she managed a scream.
“Y-you spoke?” Betty said as she fell out of bed.
“Aw, gee, how very observant of you. I’ve only been speaking for HALF A CENTURY!!!!” Salem rolled his eyes, “Besides, shouldn’t you be going to some building made of bricks called…school?”
Betty looked at the clock on the wall shaped like a witch hat.
“Oh my gosh! I’m late! I could have sworn I set my alarm!!” Betty quickly looked around for a dresser.
“W-where is it? Where’s the dresser?”
Salem raised an eyebrow, “Oh you mean that box that mortals put clothes in? Try this.” He snapped and Betty was dressed in jeans and a top.
“How did you do that?” She asked in amazement, “And… I don’t know why but I’m not hungry! Hah, I don’t feel anything! This is so weird!”
Salem sighed, “It’s going to be another one of those days huh?” he began to walk out of the room.
“Wait a second… I know exactly where I am! This is Sabrina’s room; we came over here to finish a project once. And…and you’re … Celine? Yeah, the cat with a really weird meow!”
“Hey! I resent that! I don’t meow all day so let’s hear your best imitation of a cat! And it’s Salem, Sa-lem! What’s going on?” Salem jumped up onto Sabrina’s desk, “Ahhh… I think I have our answer.”
Betty walked and looked at what Salem was pointing at: How to Temporarily Switch Places with Mortals, easy three step spell!
“Sabrina’s a witch? A-and she’s switched places with me! Oh, of all the days for her to do this! Why the first day of school?” Betty moaned.
“And speaking of school…” Salem said pointing to the clock.
“Omigosh! I’m late! I only have ten minutes to-”
ZAP!
Betty was all of a sudden in front of the school.
“Oh! Thanks Salem, wherever you are!” Betty called up to the sky.
***
“Wow, it’s a good thing Betty left out her clothes for today, it could take a person hours to choose something to wear. Especially when you have to dress and undress each time!” Sabrina said to herself.
“Uhh… yeah that’s defiantly part of dressing oneself Bets,” Veronica laughed from behind her, “Is it everyday that you decide to walk right by your best friend?”
“Oh, sorry Veronica! I’m just not used to hanging out with you! I mean- I didn’t see you! I mean I-ah!” Sabrina stuttered.
Veronica narrowed her eyes; “Obviously someone didn’t get enough sleep last night! Especially since she completely left her hair to the styling products of the wind!” Veronica giggled.
Sabrina quickly pulled out a mirror, “Oh man! So that’s what that funny stick with thorns was!”
Veronica looked bewildered as they went to their locker, “Yeah, well, most people these days call them brushes. But hey, that’s just me! Look, I gotta go to class! Get yourself back into the school mode alright?” Veronica walked away.
“Hey Bets! There you are!” Archie walked over, “So are we still on for tonight at the movies?”
“Ohhhh… I don’t know Archie,” Sabrina apologized, “Can we postpone it to tomorrow?” I’d have no idea how to act around Archie; this is really the first time we’ve ever spoken! I can’t go on a date with him! Sabrina thought.
“Oh!” Archie was clearly confused, “ Well, sure, I guess! Later!”
“I suppose I’d better go to class to. Bye!” Sabrina walked off.
***
“Hmm… well if I only have magical powers for one day I better have some fun!” Betty giggled, “Oh wait, there’s Ronnie! Hi Ron!!”
Veronica looked over, “Oh…hi Sabrina…” Veronica smiled kindly but with a look of uncertainty, “Something I can help you with…?”
“Sabrina? Oh yeah! Umm… just wanted to say hi!” Betty said meekly, and then quickly walked away.
“Oh and there’s Juggie, Reggie and Archie!” Betty said. Oh but wait they never speak to Sabrina. In fact, I’ve never seen Sabrina with, well, anyone! Gee, I’m a really lonely person. Betty stood and pondered. Oh well, I better go to class.
***
“Tsk, tsk, Betty I expected better effort than this!” Miss Humphrey tsked, “This art project won’t do your grade any justice…”
Hmmm…well I can quickly change that! Just a quick zap and…
Sabrina giggled, “Now what do you think of it Miss Humphrey?”
Miss Humphrey was taken off guard, she looked down at the project then said, “ Uhh… my interpretation still hasn’t changed if that’s what you’re wondering. Perhaps you’d like to ask me that again, after you’ve redone it in detention today.” Miss Humphrey handed back the project and carried on.
Sabrina slapped her head, how could I be so stupid! Nothing changed I don’t have my powers anymore! Sigh, now I have detention to boot.
***
Things weren’t going any better for Betty in English class either.
“…Miss Spellman…” Miss Grundy called out.
“Oh, giggle, that’s me!” Betty laughed to herself.
“Err, yes, now about your essays I assigned over the summer: How we Convey our School Spirit. Perhaps you’ll be the first to hand in yours Sabrina.” Miss Grundy said as she walked over to her desk.
“Oh!” Betty thought, Gosh, I didn’t get a chance to see if Sabrina did her homework! Maybe she packed it in her backpack, “Just a sec.” Betty said while hastily searching through her bag. Uh-oh! Nothing! Wait, I’m a witch! Can’t I just cast up an essay? Let’s see how do I go about doing this…uhhh… abracadabra- shazam uhhh, give me an essay about the Riverdale Ram!
POOF!
“Miss Spellman!?!?!” Miss Grundy cried out, “What on earth possessed you to bring in your pet goat!”
“Oh no! I-ah- think you mean ram!” Betty said trying to laugh, “I thought what better way to do an essay about School Spirit than to bring in the Riverdale ram! Ha, ha, ah, rah, rah Riverdale!!” Betty cheered.
“Just get this sheep off of me!” Miss Grundy said, grunting as she tried to get up.
“Ram!” Betty said.
After Class:
“Well that was an utter disaster! I guess I have a few more spells to memorize before I can try that again” Betty sighed, “And now I don’t know what to do with this ram and I have detention! Well, at least I got a B for effort!”
The day carries on for both the girls. The expression, “Try to imagine yourself in someone else’s shoes…” is certainly a good one to describe the situation.
In Betty’s body, Sabrina nearly passes out from exhaustion after her scheduled ten laps. “H-how do mortals l-live through such torture?” she cried.
And Betty, in Sabrina’s body, went to music where she was expected to be able to play a piece on the piano for the class. But I have no idea how to play the piano! The only notes I know are love ones! Trying to cast a spell to help her she ended up casting the entire class into a sleep once she began to play. After getting the hose and waking up the class she received another detention for “doing such an immature prank!”
“Grrrrr… enough is enough!” Betty screamed, “ Nothing’s going right! Nobody talks to me and my powers are useless until I learn every individual spell! What’s the point in even being a witch?” Well I have Sabrina-err-Betty-no Sabrina in my Chemistry class next so I’ll make her change me back!
Chemistry Class:
“Gee I wonder how Betty’s doing. Probably having a blast with her temporary powers! Hah, I might even see her flying around on a broom any minute now! Hmm… well, actually we should be having Chemistry together now. She’ll probably be so grateful! At least someone’s having a good day…” Sabrina smiled.
Betty fumed, “There you are Sab- Bet-Sabrina!! I have to talk to y- ”
“There you are Betty!” Veronica pushed in front of the real Betty and walked next to “Betty”, “Sigh, Miss Grundy can be such a pain, just because I didn’t write three pages…I mean, one is enough isn’t it?”
Guess I’ll have to wait my turn! There’s no way Ronnie will stop talking and they’re lab partners too. Will I ever change back to the real me? Betty thought, Hmm…Now who is Sabrina’s lab partner? Wait, since our class is an odd number she’s always the one left alone… she must be so afraid of people finding out about her being a witch!
Mr. Flutesnoot droned on about the experiment they were going to conduct while Veronica continued to whisper and Sabrina tried her hardest to seem interested but tried to pay attention to Mr. Flutesnoot-which was impossible!
Oh dear, because of Veronica now I don’t have a clue how to do this experiment! What’ll I do oh what’ll I-
ZAP!
“Whoa, Betty you really know your stuff!” Veronica marveled as she peered at the bright green concoction in front of them.
“I-I- huh?” Sabrina looked back at Betty and saw her in shock. Betty’s finger was still pointed towards their test tube.
“Wow.” Betty gawked, “I guess I’m getting the hang of this!” Then she zapped her own test tube.
Mr. Flutesnoot came around,” Well at least some people were paying attention. Congratulations Veronica, Betty and Sabrina!”
After Chemistry:
“Had enough fun being me for the day?” Betty smiled as she walked over to Sabrina, “ I had no idea the work and secrecy involved in being a witch. It’s not easy at all.”
“No it’s not!” Sabrina said, “But neither is being a mortal- you have to keep fit and study hard to earn any decent grade!”
Then at that moment they overheard a conversation from the teacher’s lounge, “Yes, I felt like I was teaching two very different pupils: Betty and Sabrina! They acted very strange in my class…”
“Mine too!”
“Well, Sabrina somehow got a goat into my class! In fact I had to give them both detention.”
“Ram!” Sabrina whispered harshly.
“Yes, I had to as well.”
“Well we better go make sure they go straight there then!”
Betty and Sabrina’s eyes bulged and they bolted out the door.
“Quick, quick! How do I change us back?” Betty huffed.
“Umma, umma…” Sabrina squeezed her eyes shut in concentration, “Let me think!”
“Hurry!” Betty cried, “Here they come!”
“Oh yes, repeat after me!” Sabrina shouted.
“There they are… young ladies where do you think you’re going you have dete-”
ZAP!!!
Rrrring!
Betty gasped, shut off her alarm then rolled over on her back, “Phew! It was just a dream!”
Betty got ready and headed to school- the first day of school. She laughed with Archie and Veronica.
“Oh, there’s the bell see you tonight!” Archie laughed.
“Yep! Bye!” Betty said cheerily. Then something caught the corner of her eye. It was Sabrina; she walked into school, head down, and opened her locker. She was all alone and looked anything but cheerful.
Hmm… dream or not that doesn’t mean I haven’t learned something.
“Hey Sabrina!” Betty called, “I’m busy tonight but why don’t we hang out more! Maybe tomorrow after school at Pop’s?
Sabrina’s face brightened, “Wow, gee, thanks Betty! I’d love to!”
Two days later at Pop Tate’s:
“That’s odd. I’ve never seen Betty and Sabrina so close before.” Archie said as he and Veronica saw Bets and Sabrina laughing over their sodas.
“Hmm ... Yeah!” Veronica said, “ I wonder why they both chose Pop’s new soda- Witch’s Brew… ”

That Was A Dream?!?!

Starring Betty Cooper

By Veronica Lodge and Susan

On the night before school started, Betty was kinda nervous. I, Veronica Lodge, was with her, so I know. We went to Pop’s and she ate a meatball sub, onion rings and a double dish of chocolate ice cream WITH hot fudge sauce. Then she got a stomach ache, so she went home, laid out her school clothes, read her blog comments and went to bed.

That night she had a dream about her first day back to class… and let’s just say it was FAR from typical! This is what happened…

Awakened by the first gossamer rays of sunlight that shone feebly into her room, Betty Cooper rose reluctantly from the warm comfort of her bed. A rust-red robin was perched beside a nest on the large, chestnut tree just outside of her window, a freshly caught worm just visible from its beak. The two robin nestlings in the nest caught sight of their mother and fought vehemently over what was to be their morning meal hanging in her mouth. Just moments before, they had been chirping contently, as though best of friends. Just like Ronnie and me, thought Betty as she watched musingly at the birds.

Summer had ended. Gone were the carefree days spent at the beach, watching the to and fro of the tide; gone were the picnics with Archie at Riverdale Regional Park; gone were the hours with Veronica discussing the various follies and whims of the rest of the gang or just lounging by the latter’s pool. It was after all the first day of her junior year at good’ole Riverdale High.

Betty rubbed her eyes; everything appeared…different this morning. She had scarcely noticed the changes at first, but now she was fully awake and conscious of how changed everything seemed. Did the doorways become taller overnight? Why were there kittens on her wallpaper? She choked back a cry as she glanced into the bathroom mirror. Yellow hair pulled back in a loose ponytail, blue eyes, a cute button nose…it was Betty Cooper, age ten and a half. For a moment, Betty stood statue still, too full of disbelief to move.

“Betty, honey, it’s time for school. You haven’t forgotten, have you? Come down and have some breakfast or you’ll be late.”

Mrs. Cooper’s voice roused Betty to her senses. The sweet smell of pancakes and syrup greeted her as she ran downstairs.

Mrs. Cooper stood by the table, her physique slimmer and her hair blonder than Betty remembered, but otherwise largely unchanged.

“Eat up, dear. You don’t want to be late for your first day of school.”

“Mom,” began Betty tentatively, “What grade am I going into?”

“Sixth grade, Betty. Is something wrong, dear? I understand how you must feel. Summer passed by so quickly, didn’t it? It can be hard to accept that school’s starting already.”

“S’okay mom. I was just…confused for a moment, I s’pose…”

Betty ate her breakfast in silence, observing her immediate surroundings: the couch, the wallpapers, the candelabras beside the coffee table; everything appeared as they did before the renovation that had occurred three years ago…or three years later. Did that renovation even take place? Doubts clouded Betty’s mind.

As she walked out into the sunlit Riverdale morrow, she was greeted by a pretty girl with shiny, raven hair and startling violet eyes.

“Hi Betty,” waved ten year old Veronica Lodge, “Ready for school? I’m not. I don’t think I’ve woken up this early all summer.”

“Hi, Ron,” replied Betty, “How come you’re walking today? Does the limo need fixing?”

“Huh? We always walk to school together, remember Bets?”

Veronica giggled at the sight of Betty’s puzzled face. “I s’pose the summer makes us forget about things like school, huh Betty? Come on let’s go before we’re late or the Bee’ll give us detention. Imagine detention on the first day of school. Only lil’Archie has ever managed that.”

How simultaneously endearing and strange that name sounded: lil’Archie. Betty hadn’t heard anyone call Archie that in years. As the girls crossed the sidewalk that led to Riverdale Elementary, Betty saw Mr. Weatherbee standing at its entrance, portly as ever, a few flimsy strands of hair sitting on top of his head.

“Hurry children, or you’ll all be late for class and you know full well what the repercussions will be. Just ask lil’Archie and Jughead.”

“Hurry girls,” he added as he caught sight of Betty and Veronica hurrying up the stairs.

They reached their classroom just as the bell sounded. Ms. Grundy stood at the front, her hair browner and her appearance younger, but otherwise unchanged.

“Good morning class,” she announced. “Welcome back to school. I hope you’ve all had an exciting summer and I’m sure you’re all as excited to be back at good old Riverdale Elementary as I am.” A wry smile crossed her lips as she finished her speech.

“Please pull out your history texts and turn to chapter one. We will start with a review of the American Revolution. Now, I’d like you all to name a famous event that took place during the time of the aforementioned revolution, a notable general, battle…”

Betty could not but feel waves of nostalgia as she listened to Ms. Grundy’s lecture. She had the strangest notion that she had sat through this same lesson in the past. In fact, she distinctly recalled receiving the highest mark on the American Revolution exam in the sixth grade. The thought that she was merely deceiving herself had crossed Betty’s mind several times, but the same feelings of nostalgia continued to attack her throughout the entire school day until the bell rang to announce that school had ended at last. A storm of relieved children quickly filled the halls, Betty and Veronica among them.

“Are you excited Betty,” asked Veronica.
“About what Ron?”

“Don’t you remember, Betty? Lil’Archie and Jug said they found a really secret and really awesome place where we can play games after school without the South Side Serpents bothering us. We’re supposed to meet them by the old, abandoned railway at Plymouth Point.”

Plymouth Point, reminisced Betty. Hadn’t the old railway at Plymouth Point been torn out years ago? Then again, she was in the sixth grade once more so perhaps the railway was still there after all. She had spent many a good summers with the gang at Plymouth Point before houses had been built over it. She longed to visit it once more.

“I remember, Ron,” Betty smiled, “It’s real nice of Lil’Archie and Jug to want to show it to us.”

So engrossed by her thoughts and observations as she and Veronica strolled briskly through Riverdale, Betty was unaware that she had reached Plymouth Point until Veronica called out to her.

“Come on, Betty, there’s Lil’Archie and Jughead standing on the railway; let’s hurry.”

The lil’Archie of Betty’s childhood stood before her, freckle faced and carrot-topped. Jughead stood beside him, his signature beanie resting on his ebony head.

“Hi Betty, hi Ron,” said lil’Archie. “Follow me and Jug. We’ll show you our secret place. “It’s just beyond those trees over there.”

The gang climbed down the side of the railway which led to a dirt road that led to what appeared to be a dense forest.

“We can’t go in there,” Veronica protested, “there might be bears or wolves or worse…bugs. Yuck.”

“But there’s a clearing on the other side of these trees,” explained Jughead. “The other day me and lil’Archie went s’plorin in there and found it. There’s a small lake and a patch of grass that’s real clean and everything. Come on, Ron, don’t be a sissy.”

“Yeah, come one Ron,” said Lil’Archie encouragingly.

At the persuasion of her friends, Veronica relented. Betty followed the gang into the trees and came upon a beautiful clearing. Below a rising patch of ground, there was a small, blue stream where trout could be seen swimming about. Save a few small footprints made by two young boys a few days ago, its sandy bank seemed untouched by human influence. Indeed, it was the most pristine and beautiful place Betty had ever seen.

“Didn’t I tell you it was great,” beamed Lil’Archie. “Best of all, it’s secret, so we can have it all to ourselves. Not even the South Side Serpents know about this place. Me and Jug named it Plymouth Pasture, y’know…after Plymouth Point.”

Betty couldn’t agree more as she took in the serene beauty of her surroundings. Suddenly, a rustling noise amongst the trees startled all of the gang and they moved closer together lest the noise be caused by unwanted Serpents. It was in fact Sue Stringly, with her straw colored hair and tattered, red dress.

A look of disappointment crossed Sue’s thin face when she saw them.

“Oh, it’s only you guys. I thought it mighta been Mr. Tabby.”

“Who’s Mr. Tabby, Sue,” asked a concerned Veronica.

“He’s a marmalade cat that I found here a few months ago when I first discovered this place. I’ve been coming here even after my father got his new job at the Mr. Lodge’s factory to feed Mr. Tabby since he’s got nobody else. But a week ago, he disappeared.”

She sniffed loudly as Veronica patted her shoulders.

“Cheer up Sue, we’ll help you look for Mr. Tabby. Four people are better at looking for cats than just one person,” said lil’Archie kindly.

“Yeah, I can even bring some of my mom’s special tuna casserole. Maybe Mr. Tabby will smell it and come back,” Jughead piped up.

“That’s okay, guys,” said Sue as she blinked back tears.

“I brought all kinds of cat treats to get Mr. Tabby to come back, but they didn’t work. I’ll just come back tomorrow and look for him myself,” she added as she began to walk home.

“Hey, Sue, wait up,” cried Veronica as she ran up to Sue and accompanied her out of the clearing.

Soon after they had left, Jughead decided it was time for supper and lil’Archie asked Betty to meet him at Pop Tate’s Chocklit Shop, a request that Betty was always too happy to accept.

“Sure, lil’Archie, I’ll meet you there after supper,” replied Betty.

Unfortunately for Betty, lil’Archie was no where to be seen after breakfast. Pop said that he hadn’t seen lil’Archie all day and a trip to the Andrews residence told her that Mrs. Andrews had seen lil’Archie leave the house directly after supper. Feeling sad and somewhat dejected, Betty wandered until she found herself at Plymouth Pasture. Perhaps she would find some peace there. As she pushed a large branch out of the way, Betty spied two figures seated close together, huddled under a blanket on the bank. It was lil’Archie and Veronica! Hot anger shot through Betty. So this is why lil’Archie hadn’t met me at Pop’s, thought Betty angrily.

How did I remain friends Veronica even in high school when every time I turn around, she’s always doing something to wound me, to wound our friendship, wondered Betty. Devious Veronica, mean Veronica, snobbish and uncaring Veronica, thought Betty. Perhaps I’ve gone back in time so I could see that my friendship with Veronica Lodge was never meant to be, realized Betty. Indeed, so angry was Betty that she didn’t speak a word to Veronica in school the next day though the latter had approached Betty several times throughout the day, both bemused and saddened by Betty’s cold indifference towards her.

When the school day ended, Betty decided to take a lone trip to Plymouth Pasture as the rest of the gang had gone to Pop’s. There, she roamed pensively until she was startled by Sue Stringly, holding an orange and white tabby cat.

“Hi Betty,” said Sue, “Whatcha doing here? Where’s the rest of the gang?”

“Hi Sue,” said Betty, “They’re at Pop’s. I decided to come by myself today. That’s a cute cat. What’s his name?”

“It’s Mr. Tabby,” said Sue cheerfully. “Me and Veronica found him yesterday.”

“Yesterday? Veronica?”

“Yeah, we went to her house yesterday and she got us a big bowl of Gaston’s Salmon Surprise. It smelled real strong, but it helped us find Mr. Tabby. He was stuck on that tree over there and Veronica climbed up just to get him down. He was real hungry when he got down. He prac’ly ate the entire bowl of salmon.”

“But I saw lil’Archie with her, Sue,” asked a puzzled Betty.

“Oh yeah, I called him here because Ronnie fell into the water when she was trying to get down from the tree. I went to call for help and saw lil’Archie. He went home and got a blanket so Ronnie wouldn’t catch the sniffles.”

“That was real nice of Ronnie,” whispered Betty.

“Yeah, Ron’s always been nice to me,” said Sue, “She’n Mr. Lodge helped my dad get his job at Mr. Lodge’s factory after the railway closed. Anyway, I gotta go home now. See you Betty.”

As Betty watched Sue disappear behind the trees, she realized that she had a lot of apologizing to do to her best friend, but it would be worth it. Her friendship with Veronica was worth it. As she walked home, Betty heard Mrs. Cooper calling in the distance.

“Betty, it’s time to wake up. It’s time for school.”

An alarm clock sounded in the distance and suddenly, seventeen year old Betty Cooper was awake on her bed.

“Good morning, dear. It’s the first day of school so don’t be late,” said Mrs. Cooper cheerfully.

“Um, it’s at Riverdale High, right mom?”

“Of course, dear,” replied a surprised Mrs. Cooper, “You didn’t think you were back in elementary school, did you?”

Betty laughed nervously, “No, of course not. I guess the double dish of chocolate ice cream with hot fudge sauce I ate yesterday was a bit of overkill. I had a really strange dream.”

Roused by a sudden burst of curiosity, Betty ran to one of her drawers and pulled out a thick, old album. On the fourth page, she found a picture of her, Veronica, lil’Archie, Jughead, and Sue Stringly holding a marmalade cat. “Mr. Tabby,” Betty whispered. Was it really just a dream after all?

Hannah S:

She started walking down the hallway, and standing there was Archie Andrews. As she got closer and closer he got farther and farther away. He had a wierd look on his face then he cried out,"What's with the new due Betty?"

But it was true she was somehow standing in the cafeteria with her 1st grade halloween costume on.
Archie and Veronica walked out of Riverdale High. Betty was screaming but nothing was coming out. But Miss Grundy was coming up to her with Mr. Weatherbee, they were both in there night bloomers,

Betty couldn’t believe school was starting tomorrow! Her and Veronica had just came home from Pop’s because she had a massive stomach ache. Partly the reason was because she ate too much. But the real reason was because she was nervous. She usually isn’t but everyone gets first-day-of-school jitters, right?
“Maybe if I find something to wear, I’ll feel better,” Betty said out loud. So she picked out the outfit that she had bought last weekend at the Riverdale mall. It was a Dolce & Gabbana lacy skirt and periwinkle top she found on sale(though it broke her piggy bank) .
“Yes! Now I’ll look as good as Ron! Maybe even better!” Betty also laid out her bright blue ballet flats. “Maybe I’ll feel better…,” she said. Then she remembered she still had to check her blog comments!
“No wonder I can’t sleep.” So Betty strolled over to her white computer and began clicking away.
***
“WHOA! It’s 12:55! I better get some sleep!” Betty rushed into her bed and in an instant, she fell asleep.
Betty looked absolutely stunning in her new outfit the next day. All heads turned as she tossed her lusty yellow hair out of her ponytail. Wow! I’m really getting attention! Betty thought. Let’s see Ronnie top this! But as soon as she thought that, Veronica came in and strutted like the hallway was her runway! Veronica’s shiny black hair looked even more shiny and brilliant in the hallway light. She wore her black signature mini (mini!) skirt with a Bebe plum colored shirt that had long sleeved with ruffles around the edges. And a Chanel handbag dangling from her arm. Oh no! She outdid me at my best! This day cannot get any worse!! Just then Archie came running through the door and swung Ron in his arms.
“Ronnie! Will you go to the homecoming dance with me?!”
“WHAT?! The dance is two months from now!!” Betty exclaimed.
“Oh Betty, Betty, Betty. What difference does it make? He’d even ask me two years from now, even!” Veronica answered, skipping with Archie.
“*Groan* She’s right!” Betty slumped all the way to her first class. English Literature taught by Ms. Grundy.
“Hello Betty! How was your summer?” Ms. Grundy greeted.
“Hi Ms. Grundy. It was--EEEEK!!!” Betty screamed looking at Ms. Grundy’s face but Mr. Weatherbee’s body!!
“What’s wrong Bets?” asked Dilton as he came in.
“M-ms. Grundy she---don’t you see it??”
“Are you okay?” he asked looking down at her.
“I-I don’t know---did you grow taller?” She asked the six foot Dilton.
“Yeah! Just a couple of inches, though,” Dilton said, walking towards his desk.
“Couple of inches?!?!” Betty sat in her seat, dazed.
“Hey Betty!” Midge cried out.
“Aah! At least someone who’s acting normal!” Betty smiled as Midge came to her seat.
“So? What do you think of me and Juggiekins?”
“Juggiekins?!”
“Why is your jaw hanging? And yeah Juggiekins. We started going out last week.”
“B-but what about Moose? And J-jug being a girl hater?!”
“He changed and so did Moose. We decided we weren’t right for each other. But we’re still friends.”
Betty gawked as Jug came in the room and kissed Midge on the cheek. Where am I?!
“Um Betty?” The Ms. Grundy/Weatherbee person asked. “Where is your 500 page essay on the synopsis of Shakespear’s plays?”
“What?! 500 page essay?! I don’t remember you assigning that!” Betty tapped her head, trying to remember.
“Of course you didn’t. That’s why everyone else turned it in!” Ms. Grundy/Weatherbee said angrily.
“B-but honest I--”
“Save your breath Betty. Since this essay counted five times, you receive five zeros. Which means, you fail my class!” Ms. Grundy/Weatherbee laughed hysterically, joined in with the other students.
“HAHAHA!! Now you will have to repeat this class and I’ll have Archie all to myself!” Veronica cried evilly.
NO! This was not happening! Betty’s head hit her desk and she awoke in her warm, soft bed. The alarm clock rang in her ear.
“Ohmigosh! That was the strangest and scariest dream---” Betty got up and changed--not into her originally glam outfit she had picked--but into a T-shirt and blue jeans.
At school everything was the same. Betty breathed a sigh of relief. Veronica strutted towards her in a C&C California pink-and-brown striped sweater dress over chocolate brown leggings. She had a mint green Kate Spade tote and her Marc Jacobs ankle boots click-clacked on the polished floor.
“Hel-lo Betty! Still nervous?” Ron smiled warmly at her friend.
“To tell you the truth, Ronnie, no. Not at all!”
Just then Archie came running through the door and swung Ron in his arms.
“Ronnie! Will you go to the homecoming dance with me?!”
Betty screamed and raced towards the double doors.
“Y’know, usually when Bets sees me she screams and runs towards me. Not away from me,” Archie said, scratching his head.
“I guess she still is nervous,” Ron added, thoughtfully.

The End!

That Was A Dream!?
Starring Betty Cooper

On the night before school started, Betty was kinda nervous. I, Veronica Lodge, was with her, so I know. We went to Pop’s and she ate a meatball sub, onion rings and a double dish of chocolate ice cream WITH hot fudge sauce. Then she got a stomach ache, so she went home, laid out her school clothes, read her blog comments and went to bed.

That night she had a dream about her first day back to class… and let’s just say it was FAR from typical! This is what happened…

The first subject she was taking was science with Professor Flootsnoot. He said to pair up in two’s. Betty paired up with Archie, so Jughead paired up with Dilton. Betty was showing Archie how to do the experiment because he left last year with a D-. After one quarter of the class Archie had to leave because Mr. Weatherbee wanted him so Betty continued the experiment they were doing. Because Professor Flootsnoot was doing a beginning-of-the-year-test he would be grading the experiments that class.
At the end of the class, before the students were dismissed he called out all the pair’s results, yet he did not call out Betty’s. After the class was dismissed Betty went up to Professor Flootsnoot and he said that she had gotten an F! She was so mad that she got an F in all the back to school tests and she got the silent treatment for the whole day! The only person who would talk to her was Veronica so Betty was so happy that she got a better grade in her last subject! (Although she still walked out of Riverdale high mad)

She woke up the next morning to find herself kicking and screaming on the floor.

angel_is_my_name:

"Betty! Betty, wait up!" shouted Archie before Betty could enter the school building.

Betty whipped around. "What is it Archie? What's the matter?"

"I just wanted to know if we were still on for tonight."

"Huh?" asked a confused Betty. "I thought you had a date with Ronnie tonight?"

Archie looked confused. "Ronnie?? Who's Ronnie?" he demanded.

"What do you mean who's Ronnie? She's your girlfriend!" shouted Betty.

"Girlfriend!?! Betty, your insane. You know you're my only girlfriend." With that, Archie planted one right on Betty lips before she could say anything else then ran into the building. The bell rang, knocking her out of her day-dreaming and she immediately ran inside. To her surprise the halls were full. No one seemed to be in rush to get to class. The bell rang a second time and still no one seemed to budge.

"Hey, back off my girl before I knock your block off!” The voice sounded familiar. Reggie Mantle! Betty ripped through the halls to see if he could explain what was going on but when she finally reached him, a fist waving in Moose’s face a Midge standing off to the side, once again she was confuse.

“D-uh, we wasn’t flirtin’ we was just talkin’, I swear!” said a trembling Moose.

“Moose could easily take out Reggie but why is Moose the one who’s afraid and since when is Midge Reggie girl?” Betty thought.

Betty quickly whirled around and bumped into another so-called friend of hers. “Watch where you’re going,” scolded a voice.

“Veronica, I’m so glad to see you!”

“Do I know you?”

“No me??? Ron, I’m your best friend!!”

“Friend?! I’ve never seen you a day in my life!” screeched Veronica.

“Ron, stop playing games. You need to talk to Archie, he thinks I’m his only girlfriend and--”

“You mean Archie Andrews? Yuck!!! Juggikens is the only man for me.”

Just then Betty opened her eyes and saw her room. “That was a dream?!?” she though to herself. “It felt so real!”

Immediately she grabbed her phone and called Veronica. “Hello?” said a groggy voice.

“Ron, it’s me. You won’t believe the dream I had. Reggie was Midge’s boyfriend! Archie didn’t know who you were, and you were dating Jughead and--” *Click* “Hello? Hello? Ron you there?”

That Was A Dream?!?!
Written by Jeremy

Betty’s stomach rumbled with a loud, throbbing sound. She felt it churning and churning through the meatball sub, onion rings and the many sundae shakes she had consumed earlier.

She clutched at her mid-section and winced at the pain it was causing her right now. Beside her, Archie comforted her by holding her in his arms and by whispering soothing words to her, but Betty knew Archie’s warm, loving touch and encouraging words, as nice as they were, weren’t making the pain any lesser. Instead it was turning worse; every step she took had become a struggle.

“It’s going to be alright, Betty, all it takes is one visit to the bathroom and you will be fine.”

“I hope so, Archiekins.”

Reaching Betty’s house, Archie brought her close to his chest and kissed her gently on the forehead. He had never stopped whispering to her ever since they had left the Shoppe half an hour ago. She managed a weak smile. She felt encouraged by Archie’s presence, maybe that’s why she loves him so much; he was always a great friend to have, especially when things got tough. Archie was one person all of his friends could count on.

“Here we are! You better have a good rest…”

“Thank you, Archie, you have been….been such a help….”

“Oh, there’s no need for all that. You are my friend and you know I love you too much.”

“Yes…I do…”

“You sure you don’t me to follow you in? I could help you pack your things…and…and I do know a remedy for stomachaches….and…”

“I’m fine, Archie, you have helped me so much. Besides, tomorrow’s the first day of school, you will need to prepare…”

“You sure, Betty?”

“Yes, I’m sure.”

“Then I better start heading back…You take care, okay?”

“I will.” She was standing at her front steps watching Archie walk off into the night down Riverdale road.

He walked for about ten meters and stopped. He turned his head back over his shoulders and shouted. “I will be right here at 7 am to pick you up, ok?”

“Yes, Archiekins!” She tried her best to shout back.

Archie nodded and walked towards his car on the other side of the road. She smiled her weak smile and then turned towards her front door.

Entering her house, she felt a flood of concerns entering her mind. There were indeed too many things to take care of and too many things to do. Tomorrow was the first day of school and that meant she had to pack her bag, gather all her stationary, look through the book report Mr.Weatherbee made everyone do during the holidays….

Oh no, the book report!

She had finished it before she left for the Shoppe, but she hadn’t looked through it and she certainly hadn’t edited it yet. She stumbled into her room and towards her desk. On it was her book report, neatly stacked on top of her other school work. She knew all she had to do was to read through it one last time and to correct any grammar and punctuation she might come across, but her stomach wasn’t helping things at all, what was once easy things became difficult all of a sudden.

She sat down and picked up her report. Her hands were shivering, but she resolved in her mind to get her report edited and done with tonight no matter what it would take.

The seconds became minutes, and the minutes became an hour. She was almost finished with her report when her mother entered.

“Betty? What time did you come back? How come you didn’t tell me you were back, I was so worried.”

“Mum…I was working on my book report….”

“My darling, you look so pale…What happened..?” Her mother started feeling her forehead with the back of her right hand.

“My goodness, you are so hot!” Her mother was shocked. And immediately she rushed out of her little room. Betty now felt faint and she knew she had to go to the bathroom any time now. If she didn’t, her pants were going to get very messy indeed.

She rushed into her bathroom.

Half an hour later, she walked out only to find her mother holding a cup of water and round tablet, which she recognized as Paracetamol tablets, her face showing concern.

“Take this, Betty; you will feel much better when you wake up tomorrow.”

She didn’t argue, she took the tablet and popped it in her mouth. She winced at the tablet’s bitterness but she knew she had to endure it if she wanted to get well. She didn’t want to miss tomorrow, not if she could help it.

“Don’t worry about school tomorrow, if you are still unwell, we will go see a doctor, ok dear?”

She nodded her head.

“Now go change into your pajamas and have a good rest.”

She nodded her head, this time a little drowsily, and headed towards her wardrobe.

The moment her head was resting on her pillow, she was asleep. It was as if someone had cast a sleeping spell on her and there was nothing she could do to stop it. In her mind, she kept replaying what mum said. “Don’t worry about school tomorrow,” over and over again. In her subconscious mind though, she couldn’t do it. She was always thinking about her book report…and it was like a rat nibbling at her mind slowly….slowly….taking her to some world, some world she had never seen.

In her dream, she was already in class that day, and she was the last person in class to deliver her report. Archie, Reggie, Jughead, Ronnie and the rest of the class went up there one by one to deliver their reports. There seemed to be nothing strange, but soon, she felt something funny happening. Everyone’s reports were excellent; in fact they were so excellent that they all received standing ovations for their efforts. Archie quoted Shakespeare in his report, much to the delight of Mr.Weatherbee who was in attendance. Jughead was explaining how De Vinci was such an inspiration to him, and even Reggie was doing a great job summarizing the entire Lord of the rings saga in just one paragraph!

She found herself in shock, then, she didn’t know what to say. When it came her turn, her face was already drenched so much in sweat that probably even a box of tissues weren’t going to be any help at all. She looked down at her paper, her hand shaking, her nervousness taking over her.

Her words came out in disjointed and often stuttering sections. And she found herself struggling through every word.

Then in a sudden flash of light, she saw Veronica and Archie walking hand in hand out of the room….That was when the booing, the laughing, the jesting, the taunting started….over and over and over again! No! No! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

The next moment, she was feeling the soft feel of her sheets and her pillow. She was panting and trying to catch her breath. It was only just a dream? She thought. It was only just a dream? She wiped off the many beads of sweat that was on her forehead, un-emotional and in a state of awareness one usually had after a nightmare. Her eyes were big and all of a sudden, very alert.

Her mother burst in, ran to her side and hugged her. To Betty’s surprise, beautiful looking sunrays were piercing in through the in-between of her curtains. Was it already morning? She thought. She couldn’t believe it; she thought only an hour had passed…

“It’s alright, dear! Momma’s here, Momma’s here.” Her mother spoke in a relaxed tone.

“I had a nightmare! I was so scared! I dreamed that everyone was doing well on their book report and I was the only one who ended up doing poorly on it. It was horrible, Mum!”

“It’s okay, it was just a dream…we both know you are the best in your class when it comes to book reports. Don’t worry, you will do just fine, I believe in you, dear.”

Betty looked into her mother’s eyes then. Her words were so soothing and beautiful that she smiled. Her mother was smiling down at her too and she felt something like a huge load being lifted away from her shoulder. She knew she was the best when it came to book reports and she realized that the fear of failure was just a paper tiger, intimidating looking but in actual fact harmless.

Not only that, the pain in her stomach was gone and she no longer was feeling feverish. Hallelujah!

“Mum, you are right; there is nothing to fear…I used to dread the first day of school, but now that I looked back, I realized how silly I was.”

Her mother smiled and hugged her.

“Mum, what could I do without you…?”

Betty smiled, looking beyond her window at the beautiful clouds up in the sky. Today was going to be a good day indeed…No more fear!

BZZ! BZZ! BZZ!
A loud humming noise near Betty's bed started noisily annoncing itself.
"Groan..." Betty mumbled "Why on earth did I ever set my alarm clock to go off on the last day of summer vacation? 7:00 AM is much to early to get up at in the summer!"
With that final thought Betty slowly drifted off into sleep once again.
"Betty dear! Wake up sweetie! You must hurry! School starts in 30 minutes!"
"What? SCHOOL? Your joking right?"
"Honey, I'm quite serious."
Betty leaped out of bed and hurried for the shower, that would most definetly wake her up. Alas it only managed to make her more anxious not to leave.
"Betty! Hurry up in the shower! You've already been in there 10 minutes...
Betty mumbled regret before hopping out of the shower and speedily drying her hair.
"what a way to get up in the morning." She thought to herself
With hardly 20 minutes to spare she flew into her closet sorting through everything she owned.
"Gross..." She stated chucking a plastic looking mini-skirt on her bed
After many dissapointing results of clothing choices she finally settled for a salmon coulored V-neck shirt matched with an old pair of jeans. The only decent thing in her closet.

After scarfing down her breakfest she ran outside hoping to catch the bus. Sadly she missed it and was forced to walk the rest of the way to school, seeing everyone driving in their new cars.

At school she was reassured to see a familiar face. There was ARchie looking as cute as ever in a brand new jacket. Betty ran over to greet him just as her ballet flats tripped her and made her fall flat on her face. And subjedt of everyones laughter.

Just as she finally composed herself she felt everyones gaze shift off her.

"Whew" She breathed silently
Betty was happy that everyone drew their attention elsewhere, but she knew only one person could ever take someones spotlight away from other people so fast, and that person was...
"Veronica!"
"Hmm? Oh hello Archiekins. Like my new outfit? Straight from NY."
"Really Ronnie? Wow! And I mean WOW!"
Veronica was wearing a slinky, sophisticated dress. it was a light beige colour and was accented by several shining braclets, Betty assumed to be diamonds. As Vernica would say
"What else?"
"ARchie, darling, would you fetch me my imported botted water from my limo? I'm postivly parched!"
"Of course Ronnie!" And in 10 seconds flat he was gone.

"Betty! I just wanted to tell you what a pleasure it is to see you! Nice outfit, but didn't you wear that to school last year?"
A few chuckles went through the hall as betty blushed heavily.
"I...You see my day was...."Betty mangaed to get out that much until Archie rushed in with Ronnies bottled water, tripped on...nothing...and tilted it all over betty's top.
"Don't worry betty." Ronnie spoke cruely "I'm sure you can find the same top at goodwill or something."
This time EVERYONE was laughing. Hard.
Poor Betty burst into tears...and started to run, she fell one last time before everyone started to chant "Betty, Betty!"
"Wha-?" Betty started to stirr from her upsetting dream.
""It was a dream? It was!" Betty cheered for joy because she now knew, her first day was going to be great! Any day would be compared to the one in her dream!

That was a dream
Starring betty cooper
By Veronica Lodge and Nicholas

The night before school started, Betty was kinda nervous.

Veronica: I can’t wait till the first day of school and I got 50 new outfits

Betty: I got 5 out fits but if I forget something it will be terrible

Veronica: I know what you mean like if I ware the wrong shoes with the wrong outfit that would be a catastrophe I could cry thinking about it (sniff-sniff)

Betty: well I better get some sleep

Veronica: I need to make sure that I have the right shoes tomorrow

Betty well bye I guess ill see you tomorrow

Veronica ya bye

(The next day ………)

Mom: Betty!!!!! Betty!!!!!! Wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Betty: ah do I have to wake up so early

Mom: you know it’s not summer vacation anymore

Betty: I guess I can’t go back in time to when summer vacation started

Mom: well you can think of when summer vacation all you want after your first day of school

Betty: I better get dressed
(Betty got dressed and had a shower and came down stares to eat)

Mom: Betty, veronica phoned and said that Archie will drive you and her to school

Betty: ok ill wait for them

(1 hour goes by)

Betty: I wonder were Archie and veronica are school is about to start
Ding-dong

Betty: I guess that’s them
(Open door)

Betty hi Archie

Archie: the car broke down so veronica got a limo

Betty she is never patient

Archie: I know

Betty: well let’s get going

(They get to school)

Betty: I wonder where veronica is

Archie: well we better find the list

Betty: ok
(They get to the lists)

Betty: do you hear that it sounds like veronica crying

(They run to the noise and find veronica)

Betty: veronica what’s wrong?

Veronica: I forgot to wear the matching pants. I wore wrong ones! (Sob-sob) I have to go home!!

(Then Betty goes bald!) Betty screams loudly
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Betty wakes up

Mom: Betty you must have had a bad dream.
betty: thank goodness it was only a dream.
