Hi bbs! Happy New Year! Time to kick off our Story Contest for 2008! Our story contests are open to EVERYONE, even if you’ve won before. Rules can be found on this page (link) Here goes:
Merry Christmas Everybody!
Since this is our LAST Story Starter for the quarter – and it is a holiday – we thought it would be fun to do something a little different. You all remember that song, The 12 Days of Christmas? The one with 10 lords a leaping, 7 swans a swimming, 5 golden rings and a partridge in a pear tree? That one?
Well, WE want YOU to rewrite that Christmas favorite, replacing the geese and hens and stuff with things from Riverdale – like burgers from Pops, or erasers from Ms. Grundy, or shopping trips with Ronnie – you get the idea!
The ONLY requirement for this assignment – HAVE FUN! Hey, it’s Christmas! Here goes:

Santa’s Helpers
Written by (You)
Starring Santa and the gang from Riverdale
December 23, 2007
Shortly before midnight, Archie was awakened by his cell phone – it wasn’t beeping, it was jingling like sleighbells. He answered it.
“Hello…”
“Archie! I need help. Quick, round up you friends, and dress warm. My sleigh is waiting.”
“Who is this?” said Archie.
“Santa!”
Archie started to laugh, then heard a noise outside. He got up, ran to the window and looked out. There, on the lawn below was a sleigh… pulled by reindeer!
Okay, story writers, you tell US how Archie and his friends saved Christmas. This should be fun. Got your ideas together? All right.

That’s right, story-writin’ BBs, it’s time for this quarter’s Author’s Choice competition to begin! If you’re new to our Story Contest, Welcome! You can read the contest rules here.
Because this quarter is SOOOOO busy with the holidays, we’re giving you extra time to get this story in – until the end of this year!
There will still be at least 2 more holiday-themed story starters this quarter, so your Author’s Choice story does NOT have to be holiday themed.
Can’t WAIT to read what you come up with!

Greetings, BBs! Technically, this Story Starter was SUPPOSED to come up on October 31 – but it was kinda busy that day and we didn’t want you to get overloaded, so we waited until TODAY to post it.
In keeping with our fun holiday theme this quarter, we thought it would be fun to write about Thanksgiving – Riverdale style! Ready? Here goes…

Thanksgiving Fiasco
Written by (YOU)
Starring: Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie… and the gang from Riverdale High
Miss Grundy’s class was given the chore honor of presenting the Thanksgiving Play to all the children in Riverdale Elementary school. (It’s an annual tradition. Last year, Coach Kleats’ 3rd hour PE class had the honors.)
Miss Grundy wrote the script, cast the parts AND directed the play. Betty was in charge of set decorations. Veronica, of course, rounded up costumes. Props were handled by Reggie. Archie was given the job of getting live turkeys for a historic display in the lobby. And since food is a big part of Thanksgiving, Jughead was in charge of that.
The day of the big play arrived… but it didn’t exactly go as planned. What happened!?!

Greetings, all you novelists-in-training! With Halloween just around the corner, we thought it would be fun to give you a ghoulish little Story Starter assignment to kick off this quarter! That’s right, we want YOU to write a Halloween Story. It can be funny. Or it can be scary. It could be completely original. Or it could be a spoof of your favorite well-known Halloween story, starring Riverdale characters. You decide. We just want you to have fun!

Happy Thursday!
Looks like you’ve been having lots of fun with last week’s story starring Ms. Beazly. LOL We just love reading your stories – and Ms. Beazly loves all the attention, too! How do we know this? Because yesterday everyone got 2 brownies at lunch! Never happened before…
This week we’ve come up with another Story Starter featuring Riverdale High and the cheerleading squad. This one’s a little bit different. We hope you love it! Here goes:
Riverdale High School Spirit
Featuring: the RHS Varsity Cheerleaders
Written by (YOU!)
The Riverdale High Varsity cheerleaders were in a rut. Nobody had written any new cheers for them since… well, since before computers! (We know, that’s a long time.) Anyway, Nancy, the cheerleading captain, came up with a brilliant idea. She decided to have this contest:
Title: Show Your RHS Spirit
Open to: Everyone! (current RHS students, former RHS students, non-RHS students)
Your Assignment
#1: Write 2 new cheers for the Riverdale High Varsity Cheerleaders to use at football/basketball games.
#2: Tell us why you LOVE Riverdale High
That’s it! We have a feeling Nancy will get 10 year’s worth of great new cheers. Are you ready, writers? Okay then…

Hi guys! School is in full swing here in Riverdale – just like it is for many of you. So, this week, we thought it would be fun write a Story Starter from our own personal experience (this happened last year, and it was GAG!) Go ahead and have fun with this one; Ms. Beasley won’t mind; she’s a good sport. ?
The Worst School Lunch Ever
Starring - Ms. Beazly and the Students & Faculty of Riverdale High
Written by (YOU!)
Early one morning, Ms. Beazly came to school wearing a brand new pair of eyeglasses. These weren’t any old reading glasses – they were tri-focals! (3 different lenses in one) Needless to say, they take some getting used to. After she parked in Mr. Weatherbee’s spot by mistake, and got lost in the hall, she found the cafeteria and started making lunch. She couldn’t read any of the labels, but that didn’t slow her down. First she began mixing ingredients for chocolate cake, but she grabbed the chili powder instead of the cocoa… and it got MUCH worse after that.
Boy, was EVERYONE surprised when lunch was served THAT day! What happened?
Okay creative writers, you have your assignment. Ready? Set?
