Yes I know, you all wish you could be here in person to wish me a Happy Birthday. That’s okay, I forgive you… this time.

Anyway, tonight just myself and some LUCKY girl will have a Reginald Romantic Dinner for Two at a very nice out-of-the-way bistro. Not precisely sure WHO the luck girl is going to be (B & V are both practicing for a duet with Archie - not sure how that’s going to work because three is trio) But I DO know it will be someone as HOT as I am.

All I’m going to say is WOW!!! Last night, an awesome little lady and I had the most ultimate dinner of our young lives. You may want to know who SHE was, but that will just have to be MY little secret. I sure don’t want to make all my other girlfriends jealous.

No more need of practice! I have this Talent Contest won HANDS DOWN. No one else has a shot. I’m doing the NUMBER “1” Solo of the Year. I will admit, Dilton helped a little with the Techno Music (step aside Moby!) but it’s ALL REG!!!

I hear Archie’s little group is falling apart one by one :). Maybe they heard how good I am and are trying to save face.

Ethel is doing something in the contest, which is weird – I didn’t know she HAD talent. And Dilton has this remote controlled dancing robot. LAME – LAME – LAME. Not sure who else is competing, but it really doesn’t matter. They won’t have a chance, either.

People were screaming his name out loud.

Reggie was hot, he was solid gold.

Reggie was so cool no one had to be told.

Everyone else was there in jest.

Could he sing, he could dance and play, you bet.

Reggie Mantle, Reggie Mantle was a triple threat.

What happened when others saw Reggie’s prowl?

We know the Archies threw in their towel.

Reggie won 1^st place; he beat them all.

Everyone else just dropped the ball.

Reggie’s the king; we’ll end the chant here.

Because we all know he’ll win it next year.

I have to say I was simply magnificent. I’ve signed so many autographs I think I’m getting carpel tunnel.

But being the modest winner that I am, I ask for a small - if not minute - round of cheers for 2^nd (ha, ha,) and 3^rd (hee, hee,) place winners (if you can call NOT coming in 1^st winning?)

Ethel came in a distant 2^nd with an adequate if not humorous hula dance. And my little buddy Dilton (with tons of help from me) captured third place with his remote controlled dancing robot. I personally taught it all his dance steps, by the way.

So every one now… cheer.

I'm sure you will all be pleased to know that the Reg-Man is now seeking an agent. You have to strike when it’s hot.

As you all should know, I SWEPT the talent contest at this year’s Riverdale Fair. I was SO good I've decided to change careers.

I'm going to be the next teen singing sensation - or I should say, I AM the next teen singing sensation; I just need a little help letting the world know.

All I have to do is find the right agent to give me that gentle nudge in the right direction. I know I could do this agent thing myself, but I feel I need to give all my energy to singing.

I talked to Josie yesterday and I have an appointment with her agent Wednesday morning. Ronnie called later and wanted me to go on this Camping-Kayaking trip she is throwing for the whole gang. I know I’m the one she really digs (not that redhead) and I hated to disappoint her but a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, and I have my new career to think about. So I had to say, Sorry Ronnie, no can do.

Well, Josie’s agent was a real stick in the mud. Although he did set me up with a younger, WAY more hip agent that I will meet with tomorrow morning. I’m really pumped about this meeting. I just know this agent and I are going to hit off great!

Hello, He’s and She’s

This agent stuff is way over-rated. I just wanted to write this quick post to all my fans before I head out to catch up with the (ho-hum) Riverdale gang.

I know Ronnie can hardly survive without me close at hand. So, being the kind, caring and giving person that I am, I decided to forego this agent stuff and let Ronnie and the rest of the gang bask in my presence.

The Waaay Too Caring…

So, after I left town last week, I headed to the campground. I got to the river and rented a kayak. I figured I could catch up with the Losers in little bit of no-time. But an hour out, I caught a waaay better catch - a group of GIRLS from our Great Northern Neighbor, Canada!

Talk about a no-brainer! I dropped the Riverdale ho-hums and stayed with my new best friends.

All I can say is, it’s the best time I’ve ever had kayaking.

 I’m heading to the city with Mom and Pop. They just got home from their anniversary trip and I really threw on the guilt - no one being here for my birthday, eating alone, friends going on trips without me, being lost in the woods.

AND IT WORKED!!!

I’ll be heading back to school in a NEW CAR and a complete new wardrobe.

I’m just waaaay toooo smaaart.

Can you believe it? You all get the chance of a lifetime. You actually get to give ME counsel. Yes, that’s right I’m asking for YOUR recommendations.

You see, I really have a dilemma here. As you all know, my father thought it was time for me to have a new car (the new car smell has been gone out of my old car for at least a month.)

But, I’m not sure (I know that is hard for you all to believe) and I need some participation from all my FANS (THAT’S YOU ALL.)

Okay here’s what I need:

Should I get a hardtop or a convertible? Right off bat most will say (as I did),

“Oh get a convertible, nothing like the breeze blowing through your hair.”

But that’s just it… I work on my hair every morning for about an hour. So do I need to wreck my hair before school every day? Or just get a hardtop and use the air conditioner?

The next big issue is color. I’ve narrowed it down to:

Red - Yellow - Silver

All three are hot (not quite as hot as I am) and I’m having a hard time choosing.

I just wish my Daddy would get me all three colors - in both a hardtop and a convertible - then I could drive a different car each weekday and have a spare for the weekend. But Dear Old Dad can’t see it that a way.

So… choose hardtop or convertible, and let me know what color.

I just read every one of your comments to my questions. All I can say is… WOW DO I HAVE A LOT OF FANS!!!!

You Guys Do LOVE ME THE MOST!!!! I’m so HAPPY!!!!

Well on to my decision –

After careful consideration I have to say… Thank you, but no thanks.

How could so many of you get it so wrong?

Come on, it was not that hard.

I mean, it was very evident right off the bat that none of the three colors were going to work. (Way too many sport cars in those three colors.) I think only one of you got that right.

And I told you all how much my hair was a factor. Yet, the car still needed to be almost cool as I am (because nothing is that COOL, but ME). Here again, I think only one or two of you got this part right.

My Daddy bought me a brand new Electric Blue Hard Top with a Sunroof.

I know you all wish you could take that magical first ride with me… but that little treat is going to one special dark-haired beauty (with lots of money.)

I’m so sick and tired of hearing that Crybaby Archie, moan and groan about cross-country practice.

I mean it’s not even a real sport, all you do is RUN, and no one is even chasing you. Give me a break.

If he had any guts (which he doesn’t) he would go out for football, LIKE ME.

My celebrity status is really getting around. I just got a call from Smithers (the Lodge’s butler) and was asked to “attend Miss Lodge’s social gathering this evening.” Pool attire is the fashion requirement.

I know Ronnie was just too shy to call me herself, with me being an almost Superstar and all.

That’s cool! She can be around me as much as she wants. I’m going to give her the chance to be my date for the school dance, too.

The BIGGEST LOOSER in Riverdale strikes again! I mean, what is up with this guy? Just because he can’t get it together doesn’t mean he has to ruin it for everyone else (specifically me.)

I was running a tad late for Ron’s party; I had to stop by the carwash to give my new car the once over. So I got there about the time Archie showed up in his aged jalopy.

He cut me off and pulled in the drive ahead of me. I have to tell you all the fumes from that old thing about made me sick. So I shut my sunroof and passed the fool to get away from the stink.

After we both parked, he then raced me to the house on foot. I had to run! The reputation of the football team was on the line. How would it look to have a member of the cross country team beat the Star Running-Back?

We got to the patio with Red-On-The-Head just a bit ahead of me, he THEN tripped right into Ronnie… and they both went into the pool.

Needless to say she was not at all happy and I, like everyone else, got caught in the crossfire. The party ended with a splash not a bang.

The good news for all the Riverdale chicks is Mr. Mantle will be going to the first dance of the year STAG. So, without a ball and chain around my neck I can dance with them all.

It was this morning before school, actually. When I arrived, there he was – with his red hair and freckles - standing in my parking spot. At first I could not believe my eyes. I mean, that takes nerve – especially after what he did at Ron’s party. I was thinking a good old-fashioned football tackle might be in order.

But, before I could say or do anything, the dude apologized. And rightfully so!

As matter of fact he apologized several times. It was getting pretty pathetic and a little embarrassing. So being the gracious fellow that I am, I accepted his pitiful apology.

Then the dunce asked me for a favor. ME!

I was gonna turn him down flat (and enjoy doing it) but once he explained what he was trying to do, I saw he could not pull it off without help from The Reg. (Plus, it seemed like it would be a lot of fun.) So, being the affable fellow I am, I agreed.

My exact words were, “Sure. But you owe me BIGTIME!”

Sometimes I’m just way too nice a guy.

What did he want? You’ll just have to wonder about that, won’t you…

It would appear that the news is out. Yes that’s right, Riverdale’s most popular guy (that would be ME) is not taking anyone to the dance this Saturday night.

Once this news circulated around the school (not sure how that happened) I’ve been asked to the dance by no less than 10 girls. But my answer is always the same, “Sorry. Big Plans.”

Can’t tell you what it is, but I will say this: you’re all going to love it.

Well, I’m heading to football practice.

I’m going to be great. IF everyone else does their job, that is. I can tell you that the rest of the team is nervous as all get out… but not me. I can catch anything thrown my way and I can outrun anyone on Springdale’s team.

Great Job Riverdale High Football Team! What a magnificent game, which is saying something because this was the first game of the year AND the first time many of us played together. It was like artwork in motion. My man Moose came through with an awesome tackle that opened a door for me to score the winning TD.

Good as the game was, I have to say Saturday night was even better. I’ve never had so much fun. I hope you all know by now that Archie’s big plan was to get the band back together for the school dance. He was amazing… as a matter of fact, everyone was.

It was an honor to play on both teams…

AND CONGRATS TO BETTY for setting a new school record in Cross Country.

Between school work and football practice, there has been precious little time for me and the many females at Riverdale High who want to bask in my presence.

But hey, that’s the price I have to pay for being a Super Star.

I give so much of myself to others. I’m surprised I’ve not been nominated for some kind of humanitarian award.

(Note to self: see if there is a way to nominate myself)

Back to me: I’ve had 2 dates already this week and I have 3 lined up for the weekend. It looks like I’m going to have to do some creative schedule juggling.

Well, I have to get back to my homework, now. Can’t allow those grades to drop. Daddy wouldn’t like that. J

I did it again. I lead my team to another Riverdale Victory. What a game! Of the 29 points scored, I scored 21.

Guess I need to check up on my buddies. I’ve been told they’re trying to book our band to play at an event or two this fall. Need to make sure my cut is what it should be.

I had a lunch date yesterday (she bought) and I have a movie date tonight I need to get ready for. I already told her, “No teary-eyed romance flicks for The Reg”. We’re seeing Blood of Dracula’s Dog. Supposed to be a great flick.

My team needs thank me. Because of our (I should say MY) victory Friday night, we only had a short practice today… with no pads.

I had very little homework and I turned down a date for tonight. I think I’ll just hang around someone I like better then anyone else. Know who that is?

What great company I am. No wonder everyone wants to be with me.

You know, sometimes it’s just not fair. I mean, when you’re the coolest kid in Riverdale, and you want to be around someone else just as cool… well, you just can’t because there IS no one else!

That dunderhead, Moose, got a bit too enthusiastic at Thursday’s practice. Now I have to watch tonight’s game from the bench… with ice on my knee.

Moose said he was sorry. Between you and me, I think he saw me talking to Midge at lunch on Wednesday and this was his way of saying, Back off!

If you see him, tell the big galoot I got the message.

I think tonight’s game is going to be a bust.

As you know, without ME, the football team blew it big time Friday night - the first loss of the season! UGH!

But, you can’t keep a cool guy down. Saturday I was way too HOT to be that COOL. Every girl at the concert wished she could be my next date.

At first, I thought the doggy sweaters Ron made us all wear made ME look like a loser. But girls loved it. “Reggie, you look so cute! Oh Reggie, you’re a real dog lover.” On and on it went.

So, I’m going on record here: Mark this on your calendar. Remember it in your diary. Carve it in stone somewhere -

No game this Friday, so football practice has been light. Coach Clayton doesn’t want anyone to get hurt mid-season.

You’d think that means I get some extra sleep, but nooooooo. Mr. Red-on-the Head has us practicing every night. I told him, “Arch, if you want me to practice this much, I want TWO solos at the Festival.”

He saw the wisdom of my requirement. I’ll have all the chicks eating out of my hand.

Hats off to Ronnie… The dark-green blazer she got is way hot on me.
