My dad has totally forgotten what it’s like to be young and full of promise. I worked very hard on writing a business proposal for this new business I wanted to start. Not that it matters much now, but I was going to launch a consulting firm for young entrepreneurs who want to look their best. I was going to call it, “Looks by Reggie.” I thought it was a GREAT name.
But it didn’t impress dear old dad. He just stared at me. THEN he had the audacity to suggest I ask Pop Tate if he needs summer help!
ME. REGGIE MANTLE FLIPPING BURGERS!?!?
I don’t think so! So, I’m back to square one. Before I begin scouring the want ads, I thought I should list the things I will NOT do this summer:
I will not wear a paper hat.
I will not dress as an animal to entertain customers.
I will not stand on the street with a sign waving traffic into a parking lot.
I will not work with garbage, manure or bubble gum (boy, is it messy in the summer heat)
I will not memorize a menu.
I will add to this list if need be. Wish me luck. I’m off to check the Help Wanted ads.

What's wrong with your business idea? You could have been a fashion and beauty consultant! I've seen lots of people who don't know how to dress to save their lives and who could use your services. And maybe Ronnie can join your business too.

Reg, all you need is to get a job with a female as your boss. In archie d. digest #182 there's this story with you teaching at a work- out fitness club and your boss is a girl around your age, and she seriously can't take her lips off you. Oh well. Neither can I(take that animalgurl#1!). So you see, if you look for a job, make sure you go for one with a female as your boss. No lady will turn you down!

You could simply help out at a library or some sort of community centre:)
maybe you could work at the movie theater. you might get free admission and popcorn. (free dates!)
you might enjoy retail (or you might not).
you could try modeling clothes for store catalogues/advertisements.
you could try selling your autobiography you wrote for class. (i don't know if you're dad would go for that though)
i'm trying to think up reggie-esque jobs but that's all i came up with. hope it helps! :)
Reggie stand up to your dad. you know: "Dad you have forgotten what it's like to be young. I'm 17 years old for crying out loud. You have no idea about all the fun. Besides working in front of a stove could make you faint from the heat! please dad no!" That's what i said to my dad and it worked. only im 13
