Well, I've never had braces but my friends hav. I guess it'll hurt a lot @ first and you won't eat solids, but you'll get used to it and most ppl hav braces now so you won't be insulted either (most likely). - Amal*F

I'm sorry MArissa, but I don't have braces so I can't help. OMG, Jason Mraz is just too great of a singer!!!!?? I love his songs! I went to a plj concert and he was peforming but I MISSED HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:( He was the only person I really wanted to see. I'm listening to him right now. ?????????? Well, I've ever had braces when I'm in 6th grade... Honest, it hurt! I couldn't eat anything. My friends laughed at my new appearance...but it was OK, because the result was very good!
So, my advice: just enjoy it! Don't be afraid coz it's for your own good!

Well...you'll eat a lot of soup and ice cream. And break out the advil! They'll hurt for about 2 weeks, and then you'll be ok. Just load em up with wax so that you don't get sores in your mouth :P

marrisa, my friend got braces so i know about them. she said be careful when you close your mouth! she cut herself! but now you don't even notice them!

I have braces and they are not so bad. Believe me, they hurt the first few days but then you just get used to them and they don't hurt anymore. Hope yours don't hurt to much.

Hey Marissa!I've had braces for over a year now.Your teeth are a little sore after you get them on but they'll get better!And it's really cool because you can get cool colours every time you get a change!But remember, brush your teeth at least 3 times a day!Good luck!

Honeslty, braces arent that much fun. When you get them on they hurt, and they also hurt when they are tightened. You can't eat some foods like jerkey, gum, corn on the cob, meet off the bon, etc. Ocassionally the wires will stick to your cheeks. Your mouth will be sore for a couple days after they are on so you might want to stick to soft foods. Also brush and floss regularly or else you could get bad cavities, or when the braces come off there could be a stain. On the bright side, you will get used to them after a while, and when they come off you can eat all the foods you wanted to but couldn't. Just tough it out.

i've never had braces either, but Marissa I hope it all goes well!

m, tel your mom to stock up on soup, apple sauce, and anyhting SOFT!!! you won't be alble to eat food that you need to chew

Can't say I have braces... sorry! But one of my best friends, Bailey, has them right now. She says they're annoying because she can't eat gum or a few things like that. Other than that, she tells me that they aren't too big a deal, besides the fact that so many people comment on them... gosh, I sure wasn't much help there, was I?
By the way, as regards to the comment posted by "BettyRules," I pretty much have the same thing. There's this guy I like, and he's one year younger than me, and he's a total hottie and I like him sooo much. People say that he likes me, but I'm not too sure because he's never really liked anyone before. Its really the same situation as you...

ok, maybe you should ignore him.....believe it or not! when a guy sees that you dont like em or are ignoring em they usually start to like you and paying more and more atention to you. i've done it many times. it cirtainly has worked for me and everyone else who i've told em to do it.

ok, i need advice!!!

my sister loves to go behind mums back and do stuff which mum would never EVER let her do if she knew Naomi was doing it (Naomi is my sister's name). she used to be very nice and careing but shes lately started going at with this guy who is really wild and can easily sway ANYONE to think the way that he does and now his done that with Naomi. Naomi often stays up till 1:00 in the moning just txing him and she cant ever concintrate in her school work at all because of it. when mum is not home, she always sneeks of with him and then forces me to lie to mum when she asks where Naomi is. i HATE lieing to mum and im also afraid that Naomi's boyfriend is gonna dump her and her heart will be broken. HELP!!!!!!!!

my tried and tested advice to marissa:
Well, the first night you realize how terribly helpless you are. The second day, you are resigned to your fate and are eating blended up foods without making too much of a fuss.
-A tip: make a joke of it with your friends to avoid being teased.
Okay, so braces hurt a lot, but you can get through it, and if you handle it right, you can be the centre of attention for a while. Every time you tighten them (except after the first 8-12 months) they will go back to hurting. Be careful to brush your teeth AT LEAST twice a day-trust me, food stuck in your braces--not fun.
Don't worry, there's a HUGE sense of satisfaction when you get your braces off. Your teeth feel a little slimy after, though.

I never had braces either but I thought I saw a poster in a dentists office about invisible braces? I'm not sure but you can ask. I'm not sure about this either but I'm guessing there's also those new braces where you can take off when you eat or something. I could be wrong but you could ask the dentist and what other kind of braces there are.

Braces are hard at first. My denist was nice - he put them on slowly lol. But anyway, for me they did hurt at first, and as I was getting them on, they would tear at the skin inside my mouth and then I had to use wax. Wasn't very fun. That was 7th-9th grade.....I got them off in Jan. and let me tell you - it feels weird to have no metal in your mouth for the first couple weeks LOL

Awww, Marissa! I know how u feel. They hurt a little at first, and they felt like something was sticking into my lips. I've gotten used to them, but I hate floride and rubber bands! (not the colored ones, ones to move my teeth) :-( good luck, Marissa!

Braces hurt at first so get lots of tylenol trust me i have them. But im getting mine off tommorrow and trust me its gonna be worth it. Ive had mine since 3rd grade and now im in 7th grade.

Heey! Okay look Marissa. Braces hurt alot when you get them tightend. But for me they dont hurt at all. When i first got them on they hurted alot and i missed school, But you get use to them and you dont even know their in your mouth. I cant still eat gum, popcorn and sticky stuff. Dont worry about anything you will get use to them trust me:)

Its really not that bad to have braces. THey will hurt for the first few days and then they are fine, sometimes they will geta little sore or something but its not that bad, i didn't even think they hurt that much when they get tightened. Its not a lot of fun but just think of how beautiful your teeth will look when their off!

Hey Marissa, I have braces, they give you some canker sores here and there but they kind of just feel normal in your mouth after a few weeks, they really actually don't hurt at first they are just well a bit sore. When I got mine off for changes, it felt not normal.

Marissa braces aren't that bad my sister has braces and it does not hurt at all so don't be scared if you had braces it helps your teeth to be straight
