I don’t know how it is where you live, but the big buzz around Riverdale is the high cost of gas AND how it is affecting summer travel plans.
Jughead said his parents cancelled their trip to Colorado and are sticking close to home this summer.
Midge’s Mom WAS going to drive across the country for a family reunion next month, but now that’s been cancelled and they’re going to do a virtual reunion online.
Archie’s Dad put him on a budget; he’s giving him $25 a week for gas, but Archie will have to get a job to pay for anything over that.
So, my big question today is: Is your family making any changes in their summer plans because of the stupidly high gas price?

Well no not really. I live in North Carolina and we decided that we are not going to let stupid stuff get in the way of our family fun.

Well since camp is like 3 states and 15 hours away we had to go from raising 9500 dollars to go (our church youth group) to 11800 b/c of gas...but we're still going. Just have to make more peanut/pecan brittle.

Yep.. Our family only goes out now very rarely.. and only for very important occassions!
Yep, in South Africa the price of petrol is around R10 a litre. It's ridiculous. I mean, for 10L you have to pay R100? It's getting way out of hand. Our food prices have sky rocketed too. A loaf of bread was R5 last year, now it's R10. People can barely afford the basice essentials.
ITs so insanely high! Why can't they just bring the price down! ITs so frustrating! We dont' go far away for vacations anyway, we'll probably just go to the beach which is like 2 hours away, so its not TOO far!
I agree... gas is too expensive.
P.S- The gas isn't stopping Reggie from making plans...is it? He promised me he is visiting me!

I agree that the gas prices went insanely high! It's stupid! I don't know what i'm gonna do for the summer. My cousin is turning 16 tomorrow. Her Sweet 16th party is next Sunday. It'll be the biggest event yet. When will anyone bring the gas prices lower?! It's crazy!

Gas here is crazy...... almost $4 a gallon. :-(
I predict that gas will go up to $6.....my mom started yelling at me when i said it would go up to 4....but now she's apologized LOL
But yeah.... if it goes up higher than six dollars a gallon idk how school will keep going as far as busses go. i know i'll be homeschooled. :(
Yea, we were thinking about going to Montana to visit family but because gas is almost $4.00 a gallon for REGULAR in my city, we arnt going. :( i am praying that my friends that live in oregon dont change their plans to come and spend summer with us and their grandparents cuz i havent seen them foreva! so i'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!!
I also live in Ontario Canada, problem is we live in cottage country so there is no public transport we have to drive everywhere because it is too far to walk, and over half the people in my house work (including me) we have one vehicle so we have to balance 3 different schedules and driving on one vehicle and insane gas prices. and yes there are much higher than those in the united states.
