I have A LOT of writers block when i try to write. I'm an aspiring author. I have a creative writing assignment too and have NO IDEAS. i really want to write a story. any thoughts guys? lilli
Lilli – I hear ya! I’m kinda in the middle of a writer’s block myself with the fiction book I want to write. I talked to Ms. Grundy about it – cause she knows all about writing – and she told me she doesn’t believe in Writer’s Block. “Funny,” she said, “I’ve never heard of Baseball Block or Singer’s Block or Shopping Block.” (Veronica couldn’t survive that one. LOL)
Your brain (and your confidence) just needs a little kick start – like when I’m off my baseball game I need to practice, usually go back to the basics.
This is your assignment, Lilli. Get a paper and pencil – NOT your computer – and set a timer for 10 minutes, not one minute more. (It could be an egg timer or the timer on the stove or one on your watch) Make sure the timer is away from you so when it goes off, you have to get up and walk across the room to turn it off. (Your mind needs to know it only has to focus for 10 minutes, that way.)
Write like crazy for that 10 minutes. Don’t think. Don’t edit. Just write. When the timer goes off, get up and go set it for 10 more minutes and do it again.
I only had to do that 3 times. Then my mind was off and running so fast I couldn’t keep up! Just remember this little egg timer trick any time you have a writing project you just can’t get going on.
It really works!
As for your writing assignment topic – that’s a good one for the BBs to help you with. How about it? Got any topic ideas for Lilli?

So I see that you have "Writer's Block," well I would obviously suggest that you pick a topic that YOU want to write about. Not one that you don't really want to write about, also don't pick one that you'll just quit in the middle of. Maybe write about a special animal that you want to learn about? Good luck, Lilli!!!!

Lilli - here are some ideas. You can take one of your experiences and write about it. You can always change things to make them more interesting or maybe how you would have liked things to work out. or keep it the same. Or maybe something you would like to happen to yourself. and you can always make up characters to experience it if you don't want people to know it's about you.
another thing you can do is start developing the characters first. Who are the people you want in your story? What are they like? What are their personalities? What are their backgrounds? How would they react in different situations? How do they relate to eachother. Think of different situations the characters would get themselves in and you might see a story starting to develop.
and write about something that interests you. what kind of stories do you like to read? fantasy? action? humor? what are your interests? sports? music? animals? come up with a topic that YOU are interested in and like to read about.
also, read! reading sparks your own ideas and stretches your imagination. :)

I came up with an idea yesterday actually (but that doesn't mean you can stop giving me suggestions :-) about a princess from the middle ages who gets turned to stone by an evil witch and wakes up in our time.
If i ever publish anything, you guys will be the very first to know!!!

Good Ideas I hope that you can think up some good ideas. I know how you feel, i get writers block, at least it feels that way, i love to write but i can never seem to think up a great story. I hope that things get better for you though. I hope that you can think up a great story!

That's some pretty cool advice. Or you could look outside and say for an example you see a bird or a dog. Then it'll be gobe after a while. You don't know where they went, write a story about it, let your imagination run wild!
