Over the years, people have said to me, "Betty, what’s your advice for having a good Valentine’s Day?" I’ve had some very good Valentine’s Days… and some not so good… and this is what I think:
Perspective. Remember it is, after all, just another day. Yes, it’s supposed to be special, but don’t think that something magical can ONLY happen on Valentine’s Day.
Guys mess up. Take Archie, for example. ‘Nuff said.
Be polite. Always.
If you don’t get a Valentine from your Secret Crush – or he pretends you don’t exist – don’t let it get you down! Go do something fun.
Everybody’s afraid of the same thing: Rejection. Valentine’s Day is tough for everyone – those who give Valentines and those who receive them. Remember that.
Okay, those are my thoughts on Valentine’s Day. I would LOVE to hear what YOU have to say. Your turn!

i think betty is right if you dont get something you want and it you been waiting for it, dont let it get you down, just keep your hopes up and remeber this is only a holiday, its not something big. This is just a holiday to pass out cards and have a good time!!!!

I think you give good advice Betty. I also think its good that you are not fighting with Veronica this year. Is Valentines day your favorite holiday? because you talk about it alot.

great advice, betty! Can you please give me some advice on this one? I'm having a really stressful time this valentines day. I'm in an all girls band and I think we're pretty good. But we keep getting into fights every session. And since one of our band members has decided to use the band for a project, all we get to do during band time is do her project. We know how important this is to her, and we constantly tell her that, but we need to have some time to ourselves as a band as well. Every session there're constant breakdowns and yelling between two members and it's really frustrating. I always try to tell them this, but they never listen to me. I can only talk unninterrupted when they aren't speakin to eachother. Then, they will listen to me, agree, then get angry again. What should I do?

I don't get anything for Valentine's day except from my mom... I guess it varies because my mom has given me sweet stuff before and I love it so much but looks like it isn't a holiday we always stick to. This year I am sure we wont be doing anything special. My family and I aren't doing so well. The financial stuff is obviously getting to my dad and he reacts negative that he makes us either tense, stressed and even mad. My dad and I don't have a bond but what he does negatively affects the family and I am sick of it!

you may be really good (your band)......but it's not worth it if all the girls do is fight. You might think of makeing a new band. One were they don't fight all the time.

For Betty: I agree with you but i think everyone just has to remember that Valentines day isn't just for love beetween a guy and a girl. It can be love with your family or friends. I don't have a boyfriend or a crush but i still LOVE valentines day! Its one of my fave holidays because it reminds us to love one another and its just a fun day. But i think everyone should just remember that you can have fun on valentines day without a boyfriend.

To Hilda: I'm sorry to hear that you are having family issues, i hope that everything works out for you. just a word of advice, about valentines day, you don't have to get cards from people to make it a special valentines day, just a hug from your mom or a friend can make it a great valentines day! Oh, I am So sorry Hilda! As you know, my Dad isn't really bonded with any of my family. I think your problem might be tougher than mine with my father. I'm so sorry, I don't think I can give you any advice. Like neko c said, if it makes you feel better, I don't get any Valentines except ones from my mom:/ It's pretty much like any other day:p

I totally understand. When I gave you advice about your situation, it kinda sounded familiar. Like my situation, in some ways. No worries, I don't mind getting anything for Valentine's day but I did get a gift from my dad. The whole family got a gift from him. It's surprised me in a way but I know he loves us. In his own way. :) My mom wrote me (handmade) Valentine's note. I love it so much! That's a precious gift to me. :D
No worries, I understand you would like to help me but it's hard to give good advice. Many teddy bear hugs to you! :) And I understand you have good intentions of helping me. both of your blogs (i'm talking to Katy and Hilda but if anyone else feels like this i'm also talking to you) sound like mine....
i had a lot of family problems in the beginning of the school year.
That's why i'm going to this school. And it all happened because we put our house up for sale.
No i don't like it. I wouldn't homeschool anyway. And i'm always mad when i think about it.
i kinda like these blogs because you can tell your problems and the people giving advise doesn't even know you ( or maybe they do and you just don't know it).

don't feel bad about these things, but I guess I know what you mean. It's really nice to have these blogs to talk to people in similar situations. :D I mean I'm having a lot of band troubles and it's really nice to talk it out with u guys :) So Fiesta Chicka, this probably doesn't help much, but maybe just try to spend a lot of time with your friends, maybe make more friends out of school so if you're having trouble with school issues you have someone to talk to. It really makes school or any problems better if you can talk to someone you've met in afterschool activities or just an old friend. Or us! Because we're your friends too :D

Hi Jack, I'm not exactly sure how you can win 'grils'. I guess you'd have to enter a contest:) BUT, GIRLS I can help with:D You need to respect them, but still be able to talk to them without fainting or getting nervous. Try to play it cool, but treat them nicely. Girls will respect you for that. Always remember that. Respect is key. As that Aretha Franklin song says," R-e-s-p-e-c-t, you don't know what that means to me, just a little respect!"

Valentines is ver special 2 me because its the day that u should traditionally show that you love someone. though i don't think u should go overboared with it and spend all this money on it. i think you can just make a handmade card abd it will still show the person that you love em'.
