Christmas Break Over

We went back to school today. I was looking forward to it because:

I missed my friends

Mom will be taking down all the Christmas decorations we put up and since I’m in school I’ll miss all the mess.

The only part of going back to school that’s not so fun is the homework. OMG, we got assignments in EVERY SINGLE CLASS today! You know what I’m doing tonight.

Hey, are you back in school yet? And if you are, are you buried under a pile of homework too?

P.S. How many days is it until Spring break?

Seeing my breath when I go outside

Skiing

Eating popcorn and watching football on TV

Soup – I like to eat soup in January

Thinking about Valentine’s Day!

Winter Is…

So, I was reading through the comments again (I love to read them J) and I saw this one from Hippy Dudet:

"Betty, How is it like to have winter? I have never experienced winter before. What do you do then?"

Okay, all my Cold Weather BBs – this is your assignment: Tell HD (and all our other Warm Weather BBs) something about winter where YOU live!

I’ll start: Dear HD: I love winter in Riverdale because it’s totally different than summer. The lake freezes solid, the trees are bare (because they’re resting) and we don’t get rain – we get pretty white snow.

Okay, YOUR TURN!!!

My New Year’s Resolution

I know that you’re SUPPOSED to make New Year’s resolutions on the 1st, but I couldn’t really think of a good one… until today. The Art Department started decorating all the halls at school and the billboard outside Mr. Bee’s office for Valentine’s Day. And that’s when it hit me.

February is always the worst month of the year for me. I get mad at Ronnie, I end up not speaking to Archie, and I’m generally upset with everybody! Happens every year because of this one question:

"Who are you gonna pick, Archie? Betty or Veronica?"

So, I talked to Veronica at lunch and we’ve agreed NOT to let Archie come between us this Valentine’s Day. We’re not going to compete for him. We’re not going to get angry at each other. (We didn’t promise NOT to get mad at him though! lol)

I mean, this has gone on for years and years and it’s just dumb. Ronnie and I are smarter than that. If we can make it past Valentine’s Day, I think we’ll be good for the whole year!

Whew! I feel better already. Thanks for listening.

So Tell Me

I’ve been reading your comments after yesterday’s post about my New Year’s resolution, and I wondered –

Did YOU make a New Year’s resolution this year and, if you did –

How’s it going? I mean, are you having trouble keeping it?

LMK!

P.S. So far, Ronnie and I are A-okay (NO thanks to Reggie, that stinker.)

Snow

Yesterday was kind of a mess. We went to school and it was warm – you know, for January. By lunch time it was snowing. Hard. Mr. Bee walked outside, slipped on the sidewalk and fell flat.

We saw the whole thing from the lunch room window. Arch and Jug ran outside to help him up, but he was a little more than they could handle, and they both fell, too. So Moose went out helped them all back inside. (It was funny to watch.) Mr. Bee’s okay, just annoyed that the weather caught him off guard.

He went straight to his office and canceled school for the rest of the day. It took a loooooooong time to get home because the streets were slick. It snowed all night and it’s still snowing this morning, so I’m blogging and trying to think of ways to pass the time. Inside. On a Saturday. L

Send me some comments, so I’ll have something to read. J While I’m waiting, I think I’ll bake some cookies.

10 Ten Things To Do When It Snows

Hi bbs. It’s still snowing here and it’s cold. Like 5 degrees. Mom says it’s too cold to be outside building a snowman, or visiting Ronnie, or going to Pop’s (I heard he’s closed anyway) so I decided it’s time to put a Top 10 list together. Here it is:

Top 10 Things To Do Indoors When It’s Snowing

Bake cookies

Knit something

Take a nap

Tarred and Feathered

That’s what almost happened to Reggie today. Somebody thought it would be funny to seal the doors to all the girls’ bathrooms during lunch today. It was a nightmare! Honestly, I thought Ronnie was going to implode!

Was I mad? Yeah. But now that school is over and I am home, I’ve had a little time to think about it. Unlike everyone else, I DON’T think Reggie was behind this. Do I think he’s capable? Of course! He’s Reggie – but one thing he’s NOT is stupid.

Not ONE GIRL at Riverdale High is speaking to him – and I don’t think Reggie would EVER do anything that would put him on the Naughty List with every girl in school!

What do you think; am I wrong? Lmk

What Goes Around Comes Around

Poor Reggie. He’s the prime suspect in another prank at Riverdale High. I guess you heard. It’s really beginning to bug him, I can tell.

I mean, 3 girls broke dates with him today. Reggie loves to date, so losing 3 dates in one day – well, that’s a catastrophe. If this keeps up, he’ll have to go to Midvale or Centerville to find dates because nobody in Riverdale will go out with him.

You know, he’s spent so many years pulling tricks on his friends that now everyone automatically thinks he’s behind ANYTHING sneaky that happens. It’s his own fault I suppose, but I feel kinda sorry for him.

Maybe he’ll finally become sweet and adorable ALL THE TIME instead of rarely (which he is now.) Wouldn’t that be something?

P.S. Oh, I almost forgot – Spring officially arrives in 65 days!

Getting Back in the Swing

It’s taken a couple of weeks to get back into the old routine after the holidays here in Riverdale, but I think we’ve finally done it. Everybody’s back in school, the Christmas decorations are packed away for another year, and everyone’s looking forward to Valentine’s Day. We are moving through another year.

One more thing to go – the weekly Straw Drawing at Pop’s… you know, to pick a judge for our Story Contests! Tonight will be the first time we’ve all met since way before the holidays and I’m pretty excited. Wanna know why? Because tonight, we’re not picking one judge – we’re picking 3!

The stories from last quarter still waiting to be judged are:

Author’s Choice

Santa’s Helpers

12 Days of Christmas

I can hardly wait! Check back here tomorrow and I’ll let you know who’s judging these entries!

Gonna be fun tonight J

The Judges Are…

Big fun time at Pop’s last night. Boy was it great to get everyone together - and when I say EVERYONE, I mean it! Pop’s was packed by 7:15, but people kept arriving. More than 300 Riverdale residents stood in the cold last night outside of Pop’s to participate in the drawing. And once it was over, they didn’t go straight home. They stood around and talked for another hour. Isn’t that great? I love this town!

Okay, these are the people who won judging honors last night:

Story #22: Author’s Choice will be judged by Jughead!

Story #23: Santa’s Helpers will be judged by Ms. Grundy!

Story #24: 12 Days of Christmas will be judged by Pop Tate!

Congratulations to all our Judges. And GOOD LUCK to EVERYONE who entered!

We Need Some Sun

Hi bbs! Well, it’s official – the January blahs have arrived in Riverdale. You know, I thought we were blah-proof here, but apparently that’s not the case. LOL

I saw more frowns, bad moods and tears at Riverdale High today than I’ve seen in years! And you know what? NOTHING was really wrong! I asked Ms. Grundy about it after English class. You know what she said?

"Oh Betty, January is ALWAYS like this. You never noticed because, in years past, YOU and VERONICA were the ones upset… usually over Archie."

You know, she’s right! Wow - what a realization! I’m SOOOOOO glad THIS January is different.

Don’t worry, bbs. I’m sure The January Blahs won’t hang around here very long; all we need is a little sun! Hey, the blahs haven’t shown up at
YOUR house, have they? Lmk how you chase them away. Thanks!

57 Days

That’s how many days is left until Spring officially arrives! I can’t wait; it was COLD today! Brrrrr! It was cold even in school; I wore my jacket in Ms. Grundy’s class; she keeps a window cracked no matter how cold it gets outside. She says germs don’t like fresh air. She must be right; she never catches a cold.

I’m glad you’re having fun with my questions; I’ve sure had fun reading your answers. Remember, if you get tired of questions, you can click over to the new Story Starter. It’s a good one!

Okay, I thought of a few more questions. There’s no theme here; they’re just random ones that popped into my head during school today. Ready?

Have you ever been ice fishing?

What’s your favorite dessert? (We had butterscotch pudding at school today. Yuck! Gross! Eewwwww!)

Would you rather snow ski or water ski?

Have you ever seen a whale in person? (You know – at an aquarium or in a boat?)

What’s your favorite flower?

Okay, bbs. That should keep the blahs at bay for another day.:)

A Message from Ethel

Okay, bbs. I’ve tried to stay out of this, but Ethel BEGGED me today to let her post a message to you – so here goes. Remember, I’m staying out of this one. – Xoxo, Bets

 Hi everybody!

First, I would like to thank Betty for letting me post this message on her blog. (I was going to post it on Veronica’s but Betty has more readers.) You all know I LUV Juggie. AND you all know that, for some strange reason, he doesn’t feel the same way about me – YET. But I have a plan for Valentine’s Day that I think might just change that.

I was watching American Idol the other night – and it hit me: I should SING to Juggie! He’s never heard me sing; I’m pretty good! So, all I need to do is pick out "the perfect song" – one he can’t resist. I’m taking a poll over on the the AC website.

So, if you don’t mind, plz go over and VOTE.

Oh, and if you have any other suggestions, you can leave a comment. I don’t think Betty will mind. :)

Juggie Forever –

And Rat Terriers, and Yorkies, and Labs, and Cock-a-poos, and MinPins, and Golden Retrievers, and Pugs, and Mutts and Poodles and – oh, you get the idea.

I LUV DOGS!!!

AND CATS. I love cats, too. Thanks for the question, Cathy! Now, I’ll let you get back to giving Ethel advice. She’s so happy that you’re actually sending her comments. J You guys are terrific!

Midge’s Turn

Today’s post is brought to you by Midge (applause) Midge has a special Valentine’s Day question that she would like YOUR help with. Take it away, Midge! – Xoxo, Bets

Hi, Betty’s Readers!

My question today is NOT about boyfriends (but if you have a suggestion for "the big guy" I’m all ears.) This is about teachers. Every year, the student body at RHS gets all the teachers a little something for Valentine’s Day. We usually get them candy or some cookies; it doesn’t have to be big – just heart felt.

This year I’m having trouble coming up with an idea. The Bee is on a diet again, and Professor Flutesnoot got a membership to the Cookie-of-the-Month club for Christmas. So, if you have any suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them!

Thanks!

Midge

P.S.This blog is soooooo cool. One day, when Patty’s not so busy, I might talk her into building one just for me. :)

Guys Are Weird

Hi bbs! Hope you had a good weekend. Mine was terrific – for cold, gloomy January! :-)

So today at school, I noticed that the guys are acting weird. You know, more than usual. It started first thing this morning. I passed Reggie in the hall. He was standing by his locker watching everyone and scribbling notes. So I said hi.

And he said, "Isn’t your Dad a big Gilligan’s Island fan?"

And I said, "Uh… I don’t think so."

And he said, "Oh. Never mind."

And then I passed Jughead. He was holding a sign that said, "Ban Singing From Riverdale High" and he was trying to get people to sign a petition! I don’t think anyone has actually signed the thing yet.And then, I spotted Archie reading a book at lunch. Know what he was reading? Nancy Drew in Danger On Deception Island. Nancy Drew!?! Okay, I LOVE Nancy Drew, but we’re talkin’ about Archie here! He was absolutely engrossed!

I don’t know what’s going on with the guys, bbs, but I’m starting to worry about them. Someone plz explain this!

Xoxoxo

Bets

January 29, 2008

Parallel Universe

Yes, that’s EXACTLY what yesterday felt like. Today too! Jug is still trying to gather names for his petition. Reggie went around all day "clucking" like a chicken – and Arch is still reading Nancy Drew.

So, before English, I said –

"Hey Arch, I have some other Nancy Drew books at home, if you’d like to borrow them."

And he said, "No thanks. I’m just reading this one."

Then he scribbled some notes! This is just plain odd. Maybe he’s going to take up writing mysteries and he’s studying the format. That’s the only explanation I’ve come up with. Perplexing…

Catchin’ Up

Man, you guys are in "comment mode" – I LUV IT! Woo Hoo! Okay, I have a few quick messages:

Jugheadfan – Chicken soup. Works every time. And warm socks, and Vitamin C. And a nap! Hope you feel better F-A-S-T.

COOL Taylor – No School! You know, Mr. Bee was listening to the weather report today. Maybe we’re gonna get some snow, too! Keep your fingers crossed…

LuLu – I am truly sorry about your boyfriend. Boys are like that sometimes (Veronica and I are EXPERTS on Boy Problems J) Keep your chin up, girl!

To EVERYONE who left comments for Ethel and Midge: THANK YOU! They LOVE reading notes from YOU!!!

Last, but not least, THANKS Emmy, for explaining the Archie/Nancy Drew connection. LOL! Whew! My brain was working overtime on that one!

Okay, bbs, get out there and make the rest of January FUN! Hey, there’s just ONE more day – you can do it!

Straw Drawing Results

Hi bbs! Another big fun crowd last night at Pop’s for the Story Starter Straw Drawing. And boy, was it cold! (Of course it was cold, Bets! It’s January!!!)

Reggie sat in the corner, eyeing everyone. I think this Riverdale Prankster thing really has him going. Who do I think it is? I just couldn’t say…

Okay, the person who was picked last night to judge Week 25’s Story called, The Field Trip is:

Dilton!

We all know he’ll do an outstanding job, so I’m not even worried about it. Gotta go, bbs. Homework tonight. L
