So, this morning we’re all sitting around the table eating breakfast, and Mom looked at Dad and said, "You know, this is the first year in I don’t know when, that you haven’t gotten me slippers." She was pretty happy about it. (Dad gets her a pair every year, and they’re usually… well… ugly.)
Dad stared at his OJ a minute and said, "Yes, I did. You unwrapped them, remember?"
"No, I didn’t," said mom.
"Yeah you did. They’re fuzzy, green, and they have a rainbow trout embroidered on them."
"Trust me. I would have remembered those," she said.
Dad got up from the table and went out in the garage. There, behind the tools and his fishing tackle was a shoe box from the sporting goods store.
"I guess I forgot these," he said, looking kinda sheepish. "I bought them a couple months ago. You want me to wrap them?"LOL!!!
You should have seen the look on mom’s face! Poor Dad. I think I’ll send him shopping with Ronnie next year.
Nothing like this ever happens at your house, does it?

Every year my dad always says the same thing, "I don't want anything. I have it all. I don't want anything..." Same also for his birthday. Of course, we always get him something but man, it is SOOOO hard to buy him something. He's way too picky. And I can tell that if he doesn't like something, he says it's nice or something and we don't see him wear it or use it. Last time I put my heart into his gift was a lovely white sweater. When he got it for Christmas years ago, I think he said it was nice but he NEVER WORE IT! He then made a comment which I wont put here because it is not nice. So since then I was like "That's it. I'm not buying him any more clothes." He is hard to shop for a gift that will actually please him. Even my brother has a hard time shopping for him.
Well this year, I almost got him a jacket really warm enough but since this experience, my brother and my mom reminded me of it and we decided not to. So we just gave him 2 DVDs (thanks to my brother's idea) that we thought he might like filled with action and I think a tin can box. That's all I can remember. So THIS time, he was saying why just those things (jokingly but kinda sounded like he meant it) and my mom was telling him that he always says he doesn't want anything. So there you go. LOL! But mainly it's because we didn't know what to get him.
Next year remind him to wrap the present. Who even cares if she likes the present or not. But give him an idea of what she might REALLY want just because.
hahahahaha ya i'm sure ron would give him good tips for next year, if you know what i mean! lol hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
well, my mom forgot to wrap a shirt for my dad, but it was a shirt he picked out. lol
