I have been reading Archie comics since the middl 1960's. My mother is in her 80's and still reads Archie comics. Personally I think he should marry Betty. She is cuter, more down to earth and not as flighty as Veronica. She has always shown that she is willing to be there for Archie no matter what.

Is there a way to pre-purchase this edition?

I have been a fan of Archie comics for almost 11 years and I'm so excited to finally see who it is that Archie will choose after nearly seventy years of a love triangle. I can't wait!!!!

Dear Archie Comics:

I love this concept (I am personally rooting for Betty), but this issue and proposal brings up a question in my mind.. Does this mean that after fastforwarding Archie Andrews & Friends past college, that the stories will end? The perpetual teenage years have been such an entertainment, I personally have read Archie & Friends, etc since I was a young child (and still do :) I cant wait to get my hands on these comics, especially when I am in foreign countries).

I hope Archie, et al. continues, and reverts back to the high school days. :)

I think i can predict what will happen in the love story of Archie/Betty/Veronica. He probably will propose to Veronica and then when she turns him down for a greater hunk and figures out what marriage actually means (and staying with a klutz) will go to Betty and have her as his second choice (as always..). I just wish for once he would choose Betty first. She deserves it. I sure hope it doesn't cause a sour note on all the other comics after the news is announced.

I absolutely HATE this idea! I hate this idea even worse than I hate the "New Look" stories - and I REALLY hate those!

Why do you keep trying to change things? One of the things that has kept the Archie characters so popular for so long has been their steadiness. Sure, times change and fads come and go and the Archie Comics have reflected these - but there was a sense of pleasant and comfortable familiarity that pervaded those superficial changes and allowed someone my age who read the comics in the 1960s and 70s to come back in the late 90s - or find older issues dating back to the 40s or 50s - and be able to draw the same level of enjoyment.

This new stuff ruins all that. It's just like Marvel killing off Captain America or DC coming up with their "new" Batman and Robin - it's change for the sake of shock value and the extra sales and publicity that comes with it. One of the reasons this old man kept reading Archie comics long after he gave up on the other titles I enjoyed as a kid was that the Archie titles seemed to be above that sort of thing.

Apparently that is no longer the case. Alas...

I think it's gonna be a twist. I really hope it is Betty, but for some reason I really think there is going to be a twist in this, and he's gonna end up marrying Cheryl. It just pops in my head. REALLY hope it's Betty though.

When I saw on MSN that Archie was finally going to choose between Betty and Veronica, I couldn't have been more estatic! What a great story line and what a great way to shake things up in Riverdale.

From what I have read, this story line will be a six-part series. I think once the story is finished, Archie comics will continue to write Archie as they always have....as a clumsy and friendly teenager. I don't know why this story line would end 65 years of Archie...it seems doubtful.

FYI: Some fans may remember years back when a single comic was published (it was later adopted as a movie) that fast-forwarded Archie and the gang into the future. All the characters were living their own lives (and not all of them stayed in Riverdale), but returned to Riverdale for a high school reunion. So, if that story did not end the Archie saga, why should "The Proposal?"

Archie proposing marriage? I don't mean to sound disrespectful but I strongly disagree with the concept. This goes against the entire premise of the comic's existence! Archie choosing between Betty and Veronica, vowing to spend his life with one or the other? That'd be like Charlie Brown's baseball team winning the world series! Good grief!!! Please, I beg of you, let the gang continue to be the perpetual teenagers we've all come to know and love. It's who they are. And let us old folks continue to live vicariously through Archie, Betty, Veronica, Reggie, Jughead and all the rest of the kids from Riverdale.

I don't know who he'll choose, but maybe he won't choose betty or veronica!! Remember, in the Love Showdown, it ended with him choosing Cheryl Blossom, well this could be similar. There is no way that Archie will come to his final decision, I think. If he did choose, a major story line would be lost and the comics wouldn't be as interesting. That's my opinion on this subject.

Betty loves Archie consistently and unconditionally. Veronica wants him when he pays attention to Betty. Otherwise she can take or leave him. Hopefully by this time Archie will have the maturity to know the one and only good choice.

I have been a fan of Archie and the gang since 1965. Betty's love has always been selfless and sincere, kind of like Jennifer Aniston, but Archie can't help but love Veronica. She has the ability to do a lot of good, like Angelina. So you have to hope that if Archie marries Veronica, it will be so they can do a lot of wonderful things. Archie will have to show us he can be a really good guy.

Betty deserves a wonderful relationship with Archie too. So to end the story after all of these years, she should meet a really great guy, a new guy. Someone like Archie but more of a contributor to society. An important, intelligent, wonderful guy.

Although i respect people's opinions on why Archie should not be making a pick, i still think that it had to happen sometime. the series can not go on forever. you cannot do this, a part of me will die if this happens. archie comics taught me to read when i was four years old, and i have read them faithfully ever since. this will ruin a half of my life if you do this. i worship archie comics to the sky, this would ruin the whole thing for me (and half the world). i am literally crying right now. please do not do this. i will never be able to enjoy reading archie comics again if this happens.

I think I'm the only person here who wants it to be Cheryl Blossom. And here's why I want that:
a. Veronica and Archie just aren't a good match. She's to selfish, and he only likes her because she's so beautiful and plays hard to get. Also, I know for a fact that Mr. Lodge would rather go broke than be Archie's father-in-law.
b. Archie does not deserve Betty. She's so hopelessly in love with him, and he just disregards it. She never stops doing nice things for him, but he'll never fully appreciate it. Also, I'm a die-hard Betty/Jughead fan (I'm not the only one, I swear), and it would break my heart to see her with anyone but Riverdale's resident glutton (I make him sound so appealing, don't I?). I really want to see him confess feelings for her if Arch does propose to her, though.
c. If he proposes to Cheryl, you know Betty and Ron are going to set out to break it up. I see them succeeding soon before (if not somehow during) the wedding, in which case we're right back where we started.
It's going to be a bit predctable once we know who it is, but we're all so excited to find out! :-)

I think in the end, the person Archie proposes to is none other than Cheryl Blossom--and unlike "Love Showdown," in the end this marriage will go through despite interference from Betty and Veronica as usual.

Let's face it folks: if this was real life Archie Andrews would be tiring by now of the YEARS of infighting between Betty and Veronica over him. The very recent stories with Cheryl Blossom in various Archie digests show that Archie and Cheryl still have strong feelings for each other, and in the end what better way to "move on to a new stage of life" by marrying Blossom and moving out of Riverdale for good?

This will destroy a major part of the comic. What can be the stories after this?. Most people will lose interest in the comic after the marriage story. The charm of the comic lies in its laid back approach to life which a married life cannot have.

I have a real problem with the few people who call Betty homely. She is beautiful. I suggest you get glasses.
I'd like to root for Betty, but the more I think about it, the more I think it's just a money-making sceme that will turn out to be a dream or something. Because whether Arch marries Betty, Ronnie, Cheryl, or Jughead, it would make too many readers unhappy.

I cannot believe this is actually happening....How could you guys do this to us loyal fans?? I have been reading Archie since I learned how to read, I have read every issue I own at least 100 times and could quote so many of them it isn't funny and I read at least 2 a day. The older issues are my favorites, and I hated when they switched to the newer modernized versions with the new look and colored pages. And now that he is finally choosing, well this is just the last straw. If there was one thing I could count on in this world, it's Archies indecisiveness. They are supposed to be perpetual teenagers, not college graduates and fiances!!
I hope that this does not mean the end of Archie comics, but if the rest of the books follow Archie's married life, well I'm not even sure I would want to read about that.
I am so upset over this its unbelievable. I have not been able to get it off my mind since I read the news.
Now I'll go and read the good old Archie's, the ones where he's still confused and doesn't know who to pick. I can't believe this...

I have been reading Archie since I was a little girl; now, 40-some years later, my 7 year old son is devouring them (and yes, pulling for Betty even though he inexplicably thinks Veronica is prettier). I loved the Archies so much that I changed my name to Betty when I was a girl and kept it for a couple of years!

But oh, I do think it's a mistake to have Arch make a decision. Even if it's a "fast forward" gimmick, it will colour everything else we read - we'll always feel sorry any time Betty gets her hopes up, knowing the crushing blow that awaits her in the future. And can we really keep loving Arch after such a (imho) boneheaded decision? Please find a loophole, Archie writers!!

Years ago a movie came out on Archie with real people not cartoons. It was awsome! If I remember well, Jughead and Ethel were an item, Veronica was divorced from some guy and Archie was visiting Riverdale, he hooke up with Betty who was the school teacher, I think and talked about the past, but Veronica was Archies true love, and she was single again and I can't remember the rest. They should put it out for us to see again. I've been an Archie fan for many, many years. When I was a teenager we didn't have english TV where I lived and my sisters and I read Archies all the time. Can't wait to see the new issue.

As much as we all long for simple conclusive love in our lives, part of what has kept us reading "Archie" is that there is never an end in sight. This may take place in an alternate universe and we'll always have new stories of Archie battling himself and trying to choose between the two, but giving us a "What If" scenario is dangerous. Sometimes the greatest love stories don't need endings. They just need to happen. This issue is what I'll be reading the day of the Apocolypse.

I have such a good idea!Archie marries Veronica and he becomes rich. He hires Dilton many years later and he reminds arch of the old times and reveals a time machine.Arch travells back into the past and seems to have been turned back into a teenager!He wonders how it would have been if he had not married Veronica and desides to stay in the past and relive his life to been different,therefore beginning the archie series once again!

Maybe it's not just between Betty and Veronica. I love the comics, but I've never been fond of Archie as a person. Archie is a two-faced flirt!!!!! He's so clumbsy and is such a jerk to Betty. Betty deserves a better guy than Archie! I want to see her take her eyes off Archie and have a date other guys! Arcie has never been as loyal to Betty as she to him. In my opinion Archie can have Veronica, but maybe he'll choose someone else. Put yourself in Betty's shoes. I recently read in a local newspaper that Archie was going to propose to Veronica, going against the readers wishes. I have been reading Archie comics ever since I was little, and I must say that I too, am a Betty fan. The newspaper journalists gave some explanation as to why Veronica was being chosen, and I must say that it was pretty good reasoning... However, I am quite upset that the love triangle will be ending this way. Though Betty seems more suitable for Archie- kind, loving and cute -It seems as if Betty never gets her way. I just don't want to see her losing him again. Veronica doesn't deserve Archie. He's better than she is, and Archie doesn't deserve Veronica's treatment. Betty spends every minute of every day trying to win him over. She loves him as a person. But that's just my opinion. Here's a thought... if you have it, pick up ARCHIE'S PALS 'N' GALS DOUBLE DIGEST MAGAZINE #72 of feb. 2003 and read 'Dilton in "Assert Yourself"' . it's something to think about...

Since I read that article I found in the newspaper, and was informed of Archie's (sad) decision... I've been wondering about who Betty might marry if Arch chooses Ronnie! I mean, think about it... Jughead has always been a girl-hater, except for in that one story that I've read when he admits that if more girls were like Betty Cooper, he wouldn't be. And since I haven't been reading much about Ethel lately, Jug seems slightly single! Then there's Adam. I don't know if anyone remembers him, but he's always been there, sometimes making Archie jealous. I definitely can't see Betty winding up with Reggie. He's out of the picture.
Now what about Veronica? If Arch DOESN'T marry her? Unlike Betty, I don't believe that she would be the perfect wife. I've read stories when Archie fast forwards to the future himself, and sees what being married to Betty or Veronica would be like. Living with Veronica didn't seem like a healthy, happy lifestyle for Archie. I can only see Veronica going off with her partner in crime, Reggie Mantle. Veronica Mantle. Veronica Andrews. oo-er.

I always knew he would go ahead and chose Veronica,since she's the one who he always had a crush on.And marrying Betty would have been typical and cliche.But I have a feeling they will also produce another miniseries to explore what would happen if Archie married Betty.

After all these years they're finally having Archie decide.I hope he marries Betty.Even though he doesn't notice all of the good things she does for him,maybe now he'll wake up and realize what a great catch hes got.Theres no way he can marry Veronica.She just treats him as the guy she calls when ever she cant find anyone else to take her around town.If he ends up marrying Veroinca I dont know what I would do.
However there is the thought that this might be the end of the series as we know it.If thats so then I'm almost hoping they kinda make him forget who he chooses or make him do something so they can keep the series going.After all the whole love triangle thing is one of the main plot lines of the series.When you think about it now,its a tough decision.Have him marry and end the series,or He doesn't go through with it and the series goes on.Tough call.

The Archies have been my whole childhood and actually, even if I'm a teenager only right now, I still love these afternoons where I read some Archies outside when it's all sunshining at the park, or near my pool. I'M not the biggest fan on the world, I don't buy an Archies each month, but I remember watching the TV shows, and looking out for some archies pictures on the internet. And in my humble poinion, crazy but could be true is Archie getting married to Cheryl. But between Betty and Veronica, Idon't which one would I take, even if I'm kinda more as Betty.

so this other girl may very well be betty.

I think that this will be the equivalent of Archie "Jumping the Shark" so to speak. The hijinx of the comic is predicated on this triangle. If he chooses, I think it will end the comic.
