You Know What March Is?

  Hello, Fellow Food Fans

Jug here. I want to thank each and every one of you for voting in my Peeps vs. Chocolate Bunnys poll. My Gourmet Food class will be mighty impressed with these results AND the reasons why you voted the way you did. If you haven’t weighed in yet, there is still time to lmk which you prefer as your all-time favorite Easter candy.

On another food-related front, today, Pop Tate informed me that this is National Frozen Food Month. I had no idea. Life would be pretty bleak without freezers for ice cream and tater tots. So remember to eat something frozen this month.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go find the snow shovel.

Thanks-

Jug

Snow Day!

 Hi guys!

It snowed last night. A Lot! Mr. Bee cancelled school early this morning because, basically, if you want to get anywhere in Riverdale this morning, you need a team of sled dogs.

I expect the street department will get things moving by tomorrow – but not today. Today is good for only one thing – SLEDDING! Jug and I are headed over to Riverdale Park – it’s not far from here and they have a couple of awesome hills. Wish you were here.

Bunny 911

Jug here.

Arch and I went to Pop’s after school and we noticed right away that good ole Pop looked kinda stressed. So, of course, we asked what was wrong.

Seems his cousin has a gig at the Riverdale Mall playing the Easter Bunny. But yesterday he fell off a ladder and can’t do it this weekend. Pop was looking for a replacement to fill in.

Normally, I wouldn’t volunteer to wear a rabbit suit, but since it was Pop, Arch and I decided to volunteer. We’ll be at Riverdale mall this weekend as The Easter Bunny. If you’re in the area, stop by and say “hi”.

Help!

Hi gang.

Next time Jug asks me to wear a rabbit suit, remind me to say NO! Do you have any idea how hot they are? It’s not like playing Santa – your whole face is covered in a rabbit suit… and there’s so much fur! I think Pop’s cousin probably threw himself off that ladder to get out of wearing the thing!

So, Jug and I decided to round up some help. Moose, Chuck, Raj, Dilton and even Ethel have volunteered to help us play the Easter Bunny this weekend. Even Reggie agreed – though I don’t know why.

We’re taking turns – 2 hour shifts – so no one gets too hot. We can’t have the Easter Bunny passing out in front of all those little kids! Arch

Ronnie’s Birthday

Hi gang. Arch here.

It’s good to be back in school and out of that hot Easter Bunny suit. I have a new appreciation for rabbits… and for anyone who wears a costume for a living. Wow, are they uncomfortable!

So, I’ve been thinking about what to get Ronnie for her birthday. I don’t want to do the usual stuff (dinner and a movie.) I want to do something different this year. So on my way to school this morning I saw a poster for – are you ready? – the CIRCUS! That’s right – the circus is coming to Riverdale. Clowns. Elephants. Trapeze artists. Awesome! It’ll be here all week, and I’m taking Ronnie!

I think she’ll love it. What do you think?

The Circus Was Great!

 Hi gang –

Arch here. Remember I told you I was taking Ronnie to the circus for her birthday? Well, we went last night. It was a surprise. I told her I was picking her up at 6:30 and be prepared to have fun.

And you know, I think she did! The acts were awesome! There were a whole bunch of tiny motorcycles that drove in circles inside a metal ball. It was LOUD and the air was a little thick with exhaust, but it was GREAT!

And the acrobats were terrific. We saw a dog act, lots of clowns – oh, get this – one of them squirted Ronnie in the face with a flower. LOL You shoulda seen her!

And I never realized elephants were so HUGE! I think she had a great time – and it totally surprised her!

File Under: Very Important

Memo to self:

Veronica does NOT like elephants. Or clowns. And she doesn't get too excited over foot long hot dogs, or peanuts... or any food on a stick.

So, what I learned from this is: I should NOT count on taking Veronica to the circus ever again. :( I should take someone who truly appreciates clowns.

Ah, Spring Break!

Jug here.

Today I’m just kickin’ back enjoying Spring Break. Riverdale’s kinda quiet with Bets and Veronica out of town. Arch is still trying to figure out why he ever thought Ronnie would like to go to the circus. And Reggie is hard at work trying to come up with a way to surprise Ronnie for her birthday.

And me? Well, later today I’m going to Pop’s. He’s making a whole bunch of green food for St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow, and I volunteered to help. Very little work, lots of taste-testing. :) I know he’s making Green Milkshakes, Key Lime Pie, and a special St. Paddy’s Day Salad.

By the way, I wanted to say THANK YOU for voting in the big Peeps vs. Chocolate Bunny poll. The Peeps made a last minute rally, but could not overtake the Bunnys, so the Bunnys won. I got the highest marks in class for conducting that poll. So, thanks to YOU I am now at the head of the class.

Have a peaceful Sunday and a Good Spring Break –

The Best Thing About NYC

 Jug here.

I’m blogging from some little New York pizza place. I don’t know the name, but they have Wi-Fi and THE most incredible pizza EVER! Arch and Betty are down the street in some sports shop, but I was hungry so I ducked in here.

You wanna know what the best thing about New York City is? The FOOD. It’s everywhere. You can find a restaurant open here – somewhere – 24 hours a day! Makes me wish I was a cow – they have 3 stomachs, you know.

I hope you are having a fun and tasty Spring Break. If you are in school this week, then may the School Cook be kind and NOT serve any “mystery meat” aka Salisbury Steak.

Now if you’ll excuse me, my second pizza just arrived.

We’re Even

Hi gang! Archie here – live from New York!

I just wanted to give you an update on my birthday blunder with Veronica.

I fixed it!!!

You wanna know how? She took ME to a fashion show yesterday! I had a miserable time – hours and hours of looking at some of the weirdest clothes I’ve ever seen! So now, we’re even! Isn’t that great?!

A Book, Huh?

 Jug here.

So, Ms. Grundy wants us to write a book. I guess Betty already told you about our assignment. So, the big question is – what should I write about?

Of course, it should be food oriented. Maybe I’ll pen a recipe book.

Or I could compile a list of my favorite foods. That would be a very long book! Or maybe I can write about my favorite restaurants. Or my favorite dish in each favorite restaurant.

You get the idea. I could use some help here nailing down a topic…

I’m Gonna Write About…

 Arch here.

We all have to write a book for school. All of us. Everyone seems real excited about this assignment. They’ve all picked their topics. Heck, I think Betty’s gonna write TWO books! And Reggie is planning a whole series about – you guessed it – HIM. (He’s shopping for an agent again, too.) As for me, I am having a hard time thinking of a topic. Here is my list so far:

American Presidents

Cars

See what I mean? American Presidents have been written about A LOT. I have nothing new to offer; I think all I’d be doing is copying stuff I read in other books. And cars – well, that topic is HUGE!

Our book is supposed to be something we are uniquely qualified to talk about. I don’t really feel qualified to talk about ANYTHING. So, if you can think of a topic, lmk.
