Hel-low February!

Hi guys. Arch here.Well, it’s Groundhog Day. That means January is O-V-E-R! My extra-credit report is done AND turned into Ms. Grundy (who smiled when she saw the subject I chose) AND it’s Friday! Woo hoo!

Now I can concentrate on more important things – like what I’m going to do for Valentine’s Day.

You know, this is the first year I can remember that Valentine’s Day isn’t stressful for me. I can do whatever I want because Betty and Ron have made it abundantly clear that they are NOT participating in it this year.

Whew!

Big Day

 Jug here.

Man, am I excited. This is the biggest day of the entire winter… besides Christmas, that is. Super Bowl Sunday! Yeah, the football game is always fun, and the commercials; gotta have the commercials. I like the ones with animals.

But the big thing is the FOOD! I’m talking Snack-Lovers’ FEAST! So, am I the only one who pigs out on Super Bowl Sunday?

Poor Jug

Arch here with a Jug update (because I know you want to know.)

Well, Ethel has been practicing a lot – BUT Mr. Bee won’t allow her to sing any more INSIDE the building at Riverdale High, because yesterday, she hit a high note and shattered all windows in the band room. Yikes!

So Jug is happy about that. His petition drive was a success, in a round-about way. Jug also asked Mr. Bee if he could transfer to Midvale High until after Valentine’s Day. The Bee said "no" so that’s the end of that. He’ll just have to suffer through it, I guess. He could use some encouragement from you guys. Poor Jug.

Your Pal,

Archie

Didn’t Plan On This

 Jug here.

We had a fire drill today. Fire drill. In February. It’s the coldest month of the year. So, at first when the alarm went off, I thought, "it’s February. The Bee won’t leave us standing out in the cold." So, I didn’t take my jacket.

After we got outside I saw the smoke. It was coming from the cafeteria! Yikes! It wasn’t a drill; Ms. Beazly forgot to set the timer, and three whole pans of brownies went up in flames. What a loss – brownies. They’re pretty good. She frosts them, you know.

Anyway, we were allowed to go back inside after about an hour, but I was frozen by then. So, that was my day.

Jug

Note to Reg – Hey, don’t give any more song ideas to Ethel! She’s come up with enough of those on her own!

Happy Birthday To YOU, Jughead!

Patty here. Since I can’t retrieve all the posts written for Jughead’s big day, I thought it would be fun to post this online greeting card FROM YOU right here on his blog. So, just write your birthday message in the comments below. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to have the lock on my office door changed.

Thanks!

Your Fairy Blogmother,

Patty

THANKS!

Jug here. I just wanted to thank everyone for all the birthday greetings. I was hoping to let this one slip by, but Patty caught it.

You guys are THE BEST!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to disappear – you know, blend into the woodwork – until Thursday is over and Ethel gives up on serenading me.

Later,

February 13…

…and the girls aren’t mad at me!

This is great! I never knew February could be such a fun month. I have to admit, it feels a little weird not to get Betty and Ronnie SOMETHING for Valentine’s Day. I was talking to Dilton about that at lunch (Jug is avoiding the cafeteria until Friday.)

Dilton said he understands science; that’s simple. But not girls; girls are strange. Dilton told me they don’t always say what they mean. For instance, Betty and Veronica SAID they don’t want a gift, but I wonder if that’s what they really meant? This could be some sort of test. Like, they might have SAID they don’t want anything – but they really DO!

OMG!!! I’d better get to the store quick! Valentine’s Day is tomorrow!!!!

We Survived

 Arch here.

Just thought you’d like to know that both Jug and I survived Valentine’s Day! When I posted last time, I had decided to get the girls some flowers.

Well, I went to every flower shop in Riverdale but there were no roses in Riverdale. At all. Sold out. I panicked. Then I ran into Patty. Boy, is she smart. She said roses probably wouldn’t be the best choice for Valentine’s Day this year, since the girls wanted to just be friends. She said I should get them a "Just Friends" gift.

So I did! I went to the Riverdale Salon and I got 2 gift certificates. Betty and Veronica can get a manicure or a massage or whatever it is that girls do at the salon! I don’t really know, but they seem to congregate there so it must be fun.

Thanks Patty!

As for Jug – he wasn’t able to escape Ethel’s singing. At lunch, she snuck into the school office and sang to him over the PA system. I don’t want to be unkind because Ethel is my friend – but she can’t sing. At all. That noise ruined my lunch.

But then last night, we ran into them at the movies and we had a great time! I had no idea Valentine’s Day could be so… pleasant!

Thought you’d like to know.

Because You Asked

Jug here.

Many of you have asked:

1. If I liked Ethel's song?

2. Can she sing?

I don't want to sound like Simon, so let me just say that Ethel should not persue a singing career. E.V.E.R. Come on, Jug, was she really that bad? Yes. I would rather listen to 10,000 cats hissing all at once. Or Ms Grundy scraping her nails on the blackboard for 9 hours straight.

I think that pretty much sums it up.

Thanks for asking -

Jug

We Have Plans, Too

Arch here.

I guess you’ve heard about the big “Girls Only” party at Veronica’s house tomorrow night. That’s the ONLY thing the girls have been talking about at school. All. Week. Long.

So, a bunch of us guys got together and decided to make plans for this weekend too. There’s a sci-fi movie marathon at the theater Friday, and Reggie had some stuff he wanted to do too. So, it looks like the girls aren’t the only ones with big plans tomorrow night.

Just thought you’d want to know.

All Was Not Lost

 Jug here.

Just wanted to let you know that SOME of us had a great time last night. I’m talking, of course, of ME. While Reg was sitting in the tree getting his picture taken and everyone else was running for their cars, I walked around to the kitchen door. Smithers let me in.

Man, Gaston made a mountain of gourmet snacks for Ronnie’s party – lots more than all those girls could eat. So, I had a couple of plates piled high with treats before I headed home.

Now that’s what I call a party!

Good News!

Arch here.

I was sitting in Professor Flutesnoot’s class today staring out the window while trying to PRETEND I was paying attention. That’s pretty hard to do. It was raining. And cloudy. And gray. And I started thinking about how much fun it is to run outside in the Spring when the days get longer. And just then I heard Professor Flutesnoot say –

This year, Daylight Savings Time begins earlier than it ever has before – on March 9th.”

I asked Dilton if that was true or if dear old Flutesnoot was just – you know – addled. But Dilton said it IS true.

In TWO WEEKS we’ll get an extra hour of daylight tacked on to the end of every single day! Woo Hoo!

I was so happy, I bought Jug THREE hot fudge sundaes at Pop’s after school. Just thought you’d want to know so you can start planning how you’re going to spend your extra hour.

A Food Poll

 Jug here.

Today in Gourmet Cooking Class, the subject of Easter candy came up. You’ve probably heard Easter is in March this year – on the 23rd to be exact. So our teacher wanted to know which is THE definitive Easter candy:

Peeps or Chocolate Bunnys

A raging debate ensued. I would like YOU to weigh in on this subject. (I’ll get extra credit for bringing the results to class.)

Thanks!

Peeps vs. Bunnies

When I last looked, the score was:

Chocolate Bunnies 15

Peeps 2

Oh, and LG (and all my Canadian friends) this is a Peep:

They are made of marshmallow. Keep voting!

Arch here.

Wow, am I glad this week – make that this MONTH – is OVER! February was long. So, because this is sort of a holiday and everything… and because Veronica threw a party for the girls last week… I thought it would be fun to plan something with the guys tonight.

Reg told us that Leap Day is notoriously known as Girls Propose Marriage Day. Well, that’s just scary, don’t you think? Jug is hiding from Ethel until tomorrow, and I sure don’t want to get ambushed by Bets or Ronnie, so I think we’ll just get together and watch a movie and keep out of sight until February 29th is officially OVER.

I’d tell you where we’ll all be, but then the girls would read it and they’d know where to find us. But we’ll be around.
