Jug again.

Arch is working on his extra credit report (it’s due tomorrow) so I thought I’d give you a quick update.

Good news:Thanks to you guys, I now have 32 names on my petition to keep Ethel from singing – make that shrieking – at me on Valentine’s Day.

Bad News: It appears that many many more of you have been voting in Ethel’s poll over on the AC Home Page. When I last looked, she had like over 2,500 votes!

I’m feelin’ a little outnumbered here.

Whale Song

Jug here.

Well, Arch finished reading that Nancy Drew book last night. Tonight he’s going to work on his extra credit report about whales – that is AFTER the Straw Drawing at Pop’s. Betty told me they’re gonna pick another judge tonight for The Field Trip story.

Speaking of whales, have you ever heard a whale sing? Well, in gourmet cooking class today, we all heard what SOUNDED like a whale singing. Turned out to be Ethel. She was rehearsing the songs she plans to ambush me with on Valentine’s Day. Nine more people signed my "Ban Singing At Riverdale High" petition on the spot (my teacher was one of them.)

If any of you want to sign my petition, just leave your name in the comments. I’ll print them out and add them to the official list.

Thanks

Jug

Whales

Hi guys!

Wow, the weekend FLEW by. Why is it you wait all week for the weekend to get here and when it DOES finally get here, it goes by TWICE as fast as the other days of the week? Oh well.

I want to say THANKS today for 2 things:

1. All the insight about LOVE you’re giving me (see my last post) I am the first to admit that when it comes to love, I have A LOT to learn.

2. For helping me choose the subject for my Extra Credit report. I picked whales.

I think you’re right; whales ARE interesting. I spent this weekend doing research. I have one more resource to check out, then I’ll be ready to write my paper. I’ll keep you posted on my progress. The report is due Friday.

Subject: Love

Hi guys, Arch here.

You know, I’ve been reading your comments on the posts regarding Valentine’s Day – not just this year’s posts – I went back into Betty and Veronica’s blog archives and read about last year’s mess, too. So this is my question:

Why is LOVE so COMPLICATED????

Can someone answer this for me?

Waiting for Enlightenment,

Arch

The Prankster Strikes Again

Hi guys. Arch here.

Today The Riverdale Prankster struck again. He/She/It changed the combination to my locker. Svenson had to help me get it open. (Notice I’m trying NOT to single out my pal, Reggie? Betty says that would not be fair)

Whoever did this – again, I’m not saying it was Reg – was pretty smart… and MUST enjoy seeing me not be able to get to my books. Wonder who it was?

Reggie Strikes Again?

Jug here.

I took a break from reading stories today and went to Pop’s. While I was there, Reg came in and sat at the counter with me. I went to the restroom. When I came back, he was gone.

Shortly after that I went to salt my crinkle cut fries and the top of the salt shaker came off. Now, I’m not saying it was Reg, but he DID have the opportunity.

The mystery continues…

Plan B

Hi guys.

Jug and I were going to go to the movies tonight, but he’s staying home to read Story Contest stories. Moose and Midge have plans. Chuck is going out with Nancy. Dilton’s busy and I left a message on Reg’s phone, but he hasn’t called me back.

So, I’ve decided this would be a good time make plans for Valentine’s Day. I can’t reveal too many details here, because anything I say will get straight back to the girls, but I DO have a plan. I’ve been working on it all week. It’s really made things simple this year since Veronica told me she doesn’t want me to do anything for her. Feels kinda weird though…

A couple of new restaurants opened in the area – I think I’ll go check them out.

Later –

I’m A Judge… Again

Jug here. Not much time for a long post; you see, I have stories to read. Lots and lots of them. I, Jughead Jones, was chosen last night at the Straw Drawing to be the Official Judge for this quarter’s Author’s Choice story entries.

I am honored. I was also so excited that – in all the festivities – I think I forgot to finish my hamburger! That’s a first! The other two judges are Ms. Grundy and Pop Tate himself. You’ve probably already heard, but I thought I’d tell you anyway.

I’m glad the band doesn’t have any appearances booked at the moment because I don’t have time to rehearse. For the next week or two, all my spare time is going to be spent reading YOUR stories.

Can’t wait to get started.

Extra Credit

Today Ms. Grundy gave us an extra credit assignment (which means you don’t have to do it, but it would be a smart thing if you did in case you mess up on a test later.)

We are supposed to write a 10,000 word paper on one of the following subjects:

Organic foods

Recycling

Alternative energy

Whales

Ms. Grundy loves whales, so I think I’ll write about them. Problem: I only know enough about whales to use about 50 words. So, if you know where I can find some obscure whale facts, lmk.

Your Pal

Arch

P.S. I heard Reggie say he’s writing a paper about ALL of these; he needs all the extra credit he can get right now!

 Jug here.

Class was a bust today. Tuesdays we usually bake. The whole school knows this because there are always pastries, cakes, pies, or some other baked goods free for sampling after class.

Today we could not get anything to mix right. Every time we tried to mix the flour with water, milk, or eggs it just turned to yuck.

Come to find out, SOMEONE replaced all our flour with corn starch - and I can tell you corn starch can do some pretty weird stuff.

Needless to say, there were no free cookies today.

Hi Gang

I saw a first today and I have to admit, it was funny. I saw the sweet girls of Riverdale High turn into an angry mob.

It happened at lunch. I don’t know who did it, but someone managed to seal shut every single girls’ bathroom door in Riverdale High - closed tight, as in, unable to open.

The girls went into panic mode. Betty and Ron were actually shuttling girls to Pop’s so they could… well, do whatever girls do in bathrooms – which is mostly talk and powder their noses.

Svenson told The Bee that the doors were sealed with some kind of "smart glue"; it only lasted about 45 minutes then it completely evaporated - like it was never there. Svenson said he had never seen anything like before.

Reggie was the prime suspect. The girls went after him like a swarm of angry hornets. The Bee took pity on him and hid him in his office for his own protection.

It made the day interesting, but I’m sure the girls would say otherwise.

Got to Go… Homework

Back to the Basic Food Groups

Hi guys.

After all the different foods I had over the holidays AND my gourmet cooking class feasts, I think I need to eat healthier food next week. My stomach needs a break.

All that fancy food (though I love it) turns my stomach from time to time.

So this coming week it’s nothing but health food for this guy… Hamburgers & French-fries.

Anything You Say, Ronnie!

Boy did Ronnie surprise me after school yesterday. I saw her walking ahead of me in the hall – Mr. Bee let us out early because it was snowing. So I hurried to catch up with her. I was going to see if she wanted a ride home.

All I got to say was her name. "Ronnie?"

She turned with that look only she can give and said, "Archie Andrews, Betty and I had a talk about YOU the other day."

"You did?" I said, braced for the worst. When Ron and Betty talk about me it usually turns out bad.

"Yes," she said. "You can forget about asking me out for Valentines Day, this year. And please do not attempt to get me a gift - and I use the word attempt because that’s as close as you ever get to a real Valentine’s gift!"

Before I could think of a reply, she turned and walked right out the door into the snow. To say I was stunned would be an understatement. I guess I’ll never figure girls out.

Reg was standing nearby and heard the whole thing. You know, sometimes he can be a true friend. He told me not to waste my time trying to figure Ronnie out. He said, "Look at the big door that just opened up for you with Betty."

You know, he’s right. What a friend!

Beware of Apricots

 Jug here.

Feeling MUCH better today. I didn’t know apricots could be so wicked. I mean, it’s a fruit, right? Fruit is supposed to be good for you. I guess it’s all in the way you eat it. I don’t think I’ll be able to eat another apricot for a long long time.

Have you ever eaten so much of something that you can’t look at it any more? It happened to Arch once. A few years ago we had a dance at school and he stood at the buffet table and ate a whole plate of green olives. Now he can’t even look at one.

I thought that was weird, but now I get it. I’m just glad it was apricots - not ice cream or burgers. That would have been a tragedy.

LMK if this has ever happened to you.

Jug vs. the Apricot

archieArchie here (filling in for Jug)

Jug was gonna write this post, but he celebrated National Apricot Day a bit too much and he’s lying down at the moment telling me what to write. (It’s pretty funny; you should see him.)

Today in Gourmet Cooking Class he ate:

Apricot Tarts

Apricot Pasta Salad

Apricot Stuffed BBQ Chicken

Apricot Cobbler

Apricot Ice Cream Pudding

Southwestern Apricot Salsa

Pickled Apricots

And he chased it all down with Apricot Nectar

Boy, does he have a stomach ache! I think he’ll be fine tomorrow, but he’s gonna have to learn to pace himself if he’s planning to celebrate all the food holidays this year.

Your Pal,

Arch (for Jug)

Thanks, Katy!

Jughead Happy Tuesday

It seems my Gourmet Cooking class teacher isn’t the only one who got a food calendar for Christmas – looks like Katy got one too! COOL! Thanks for the heads up on Whipped Cream Day and English Toffee Day.

I had NO idea there were so many days set aside to celebrate food, but now that I do know, I intend to celebrate each and every single one of them. YUM!

Katy, lmk if I forget one. J

It’s Starting

Hi guys. Arch here.

Today I went to the store for my mom for some milk and bean sprouts. And there – sitting where the Christmas candy was last week – were rows and rows of Valentine candy.

YIKES!!!

You know what this means, right? Valentine’s Day is coming up FAST! I dread Valentine’s Day every year because – well, you all remember what happened to me last year. Yeah well, that pretty much happens to me EVERY year.

This is just January 5th, right? So I have time to come up with a plan – a GOOD one that won’t land me in hot water with Ronnie and Betty. If you have any ideas, PLZ send them my way.

THANKS!

Archie

Almost As Big As Christmas

arch Hi bloggy buddies

Jug here with a bit of news I’ll bet you didn’t know. Today is National Spaghetti Day! I know this because my Gourmet Cooking Class teacher got a calendar for Christmas that tells you every important food day in the entire year! Pretty awesome, huh? She hung it up in our classroom, so I can consult it every week and prepare accordingly.

Today, in honor of this holiday, we made spaghetti. Lots and lots of it. And we made 3 different kinds of spaghetti sauce – 1 very veggie, 1 with meat, and 1 extra zesty. I’ve never eaten so much spaghetti in one day in my whole life.

National Spaghetti Day isn’t Christmas, but its pretty close in my book.

Your stuffed but happy friend,

Juggy

Christmas Is Over

ArchieHi gang,

I’m a little bit sad today. As I was driving through town I noticed the street department guys were taking down the snowflakes on the light posts. The tree is gone on the town square, too. I guess Christmas is officially over in Riverdale. I wanted it to stay longer this year. I really had fun. Anybody else feel this way?

Arch & The Tree Sap

jugToday, we went back to school. Some of the kids were pretty bummed out about it, but not me. I couldn’t wait to get back to Gourmet Cooking Class.

Funny story: You remember Arch volunteered US to pick up old Christmas trees a few days ago? Well, he hasn’t cleaned up his car yet. So this morning, we were all outside talking before class started. Arch leaned against his car and got tree sap all over the back of his clothes.

You know what happened the rest of the day – Arch stuck to every seat he sat in. LOL I saw him after school at the Riverdale Buggy Bath scrubbing away. I would have stopped to help him, but I was headed to Pop’s.

So, how’d your first day back to school go? Anything exciting happen?
