Kinda Overwhelmed

ArchieI looked at my schedule and, from what I can tell, I won’t be able to sleep until sometime late Saturday. Here’s my week:

School. Run. Go to Dentist. More School. Run some more. Mow Yard. Homework. Finish reading entries for The Best Campfire Story Ever. Pick story winner (hardest thing I will do this week.) School again. Wash car. Clean garage. Study for 3 tests. Hopefully pass 3 tests. Run. Run. Run. Get The Archies together to rehearse for Riverdale Fall Festival. School. Football game Friday night. Cross Country meet.

I know I forgot something. That worries me.

Lost My Dog Sweater

jughead Ronnie is kind of miffed at me.

Saturday, after we played for all our K-9 friends (HOTDOG LOVED IT) Archie and I broke down our equipment and hauled our stuff back to his garage. My drums and Ronnie’s keyboards are the biggest pain, and the speakers are way heavy. Everything else is a breeze.

Anyway, after we were done I couldn’t find the sweater Ronnie gave me for the concert. Archie and I drove back to where we played, but it was nowhere to be found.

I told Ronnie yesterday at school. She was a little mad at me. She told me she’s getting us new shirts for the Fall Festival, and I had better not lose mine.

I’m sure I laid that sweater across my base drum. How it could just disappear is a mystery to me.

WHAT ELSE!?!?!

archieHi Gang

I can’t believe it. I had a cavity! This is a first for me. The dentist said, “It would appear you may have missed a brushing or two.” And it was very apparent that I’ve not been flossing.

Mom and Dad are going to flip when they get the bill. I guess I’d better double my effort. Being busy is no excuse for this (at least that’s what Mom and Dad are going to say.)

I also need to lay off the candy bars. I’m telling you, I don’t know how Juggy does it. His teeth are perfect.

Well, got to floss!

It’s All A Big Mistake… Really It Is!!!!!!!

jugJughead here

I guess you heard – Ethel’s got my dog sweater. Says I can have it back IF I take her out on a date. That’s a big IF. Well, I’m not really fond of that sweater anymore… it has Ethel kooties… so, I’m thinkin’ she can keep it…

BUT-

Ronnie really wants me to get it back. This has just gotten way out of hand.

HELP HELP HELP!!!! How could this happen to ME?

I mean, I’m such a nice guy. RIGHT? I said, RIGHT!!!???

Oh no, now I sound like Reggie.

Getting Ready For the Next Gig

archieHi Gang

Ronnie told me at school yesterday that we have another gig next Saturday. The town has hired us to play at Riverdale’s Fall Festival.

This is great. There are a couple of new songs I’d like us to try and I’m pretty sure Reggie has one or two songs he’d like to throw into our mix.

Betty hinted that Ronnie is getting us matching outfits again. She keeps this up and I won’t have to buy any new ones for winter.

My Week

archieLast Monday, I posted the schedule for my week. This is how I did:

School. (Done for another week!) Run. (I ran 65 miles this week.) Go to Dentist. (You already know how that turned out.) More School. Run some more. Mow Yard. (Did that Wednesday, but it’s growing again.) Homework. (Caught up.) Finish reading entries for The Best Campfire Story Ever. (Finished last night.) Pick story winner (hardest thing I will do this week.) (I’ve narrowed it down to 6 – might need help from Jug.) School again. Wash car. (I did that after I left the dentist. It rained the next day.) Clean garage. (Halfway done.) Study for 3 tests. Hopefully pass 3 tests. (Aced one, missed 2 answers on one, will find about the third next week.) Run. Run. Run. Get The Archies together to rehearse for Riverdale Fall Festival. (Sunday.) School. Football game Friday night. (Fun.) Cross Country meet. (This morning!)

I’m not going to write my schedule down any more. It makes me tired to read it. I do better if I just go from thing to thing without thinking too much about it.

Thanks for all the comments. Take my advice and go have fun this weekend.

P.S. I never did remember the thing I thought I forgot.

No Thanks, Ron

jugheadRon came to band rehearsal this afternoon with another dog sweater. It was exactly like the one I used to have before Ethel got a hold of it.

I gave it back and said, “Thanks, but NO thanks.” Arch and Reg got it right away, but Ron looked confused. So I explained it to her.

The only people who wear matching clothes are COUPLES.

She understood. I hope she can get her money back.

Riverdale in Mourning

By Archie Andrews

Flags will fly at half-mast this week in Riverdale with the passing of Richard Goldwater. Richard was like a second father to me and has been as big an influence in my life as my Mom and Dad. Richard, you’ve been part of my life for a very long time, and I will miss your gentle guidance and kind words.

Thank You for A Great Life and Wonderful Friends.

Winner Week 14

archieDrum roll please…

Okay, I read each and every entry 3 times for Best Campfire Story Ever! Some of them were really funny. Some of them scared me. But the one I liked the very best was written by Town Girl.

Her story featured almost ALL of us (which is fun.) It was like Lost meets Gilligans’ Island… and I think I played Gilligan, which seems to happen to me a lot.

Anyway, thanks for writing such a fun, exciting, scary-cool, food-filled tale. It belongs in the Story Hall of Fame.

Sincerely,

Your Pal (and Official Story Judge)

Week 17’s Winner

By Ginger Lopez

gingerGinger here with my pick for the best story for Week 17. Before I tell you who won, I would like to thank Patty for helping me write my post – blogging is new to me, but I would very much like to get one of my own!

Okay, now for the winner. All of your stories made me laugh, but my favorite was written by Tina. I think maybe Tina has actually been to Riverdale High before, because she described EVERYONE perfectly in her story – even Mr. Weatherbee!

Ms. Beazly asked me to put the winning story up in the cafeteria tomorrow so everyone can read it. (I think she likes all the attention!) Archie and Jughead are making to make a special poster for it this afternoon. I think Mz. Beazly will like it very much.

Thank you, Tina and EVERYONE who entered!

Yours Very Truly,

Ginger

Finding a New Normal

archieArchie here.

I walked to school today. The sun was out and it was light-jacket-type cool, a great day for a walk. I thought everything would be back to normal today. A few times it was – like at lunch – but mostly it wasn’t. Made me feel kind of odd.

Then on the way home I figured it out. I wanted everything to be “back to normal” today, but that’s not really possible. We all lost somebody we care about and he’s not coming back.

But that’s the way life is. Our job is to keep going. Pretty soon, we’ll find a “new normal” here in Riverdale… and life does go on.

My first “C” in Gourmet Cooking

jugI blew it to day. We were making hors d'oeuvres; I was making Deviled Egg Surprise. Well the surprise was supposed to be smoked ham and Dijon mustard – but I ate the smoked ham before class and I forgot to get Dijon mustard. So I used bacon and regular mustard instead. The Dijon was supposed to give the eggs a little extra kick, but since I didn’t have it – I improvised.

I substituted cyan pepper for paprika, so my Deviled Egg Surprise had an EXTRA kick. I gave the teacher and several fellow classmates a real hot mouth.

Got a get back in the in the game.

Getting Ready for the Fall Festival

archHi Gang

No cross country meet and no football this weekend. It’s giving us all a chance to practice for the Fall Festival. We’re introducing four new songs… and Reggie is doing two solos!

Ronnie got us all real cool blazers and tight leg jeans. Each one of the blazers is a different fall color. Mine is purple. Should be a great weekend!

Oh, one more thing. Everyone at school it talking about some big surprise Patty is planning. I haven’t figured it out yet. Betty knows what it is, but she’s not talkin’. If you figure out what’s up, let me know.

Gotta Love That Ronnie

JugheadYet more new clothes. You all know I’ve never much been into fashion and looks. A pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a pair of tennis-shoes and I’m basically set for the day. But I have to say, I don’t look half bad in the new orange blazer and cool jeans she got me.

I hope I’m not sounding too much like Reg.

Oh yeah, more good news.

Remember my deviled egg fiasco? My teacher added popcorn shrimp to the mix and then called a Cajon restaurant in Springdale. They loved it! WE now have a recipe on their menu. My teacher then went back and changed my grade from a “C” to an “A” - for originality. I hated to tell her it was really a mistake on my part. She was so happy, I just kept my mouth shut.

One More Rehearsal

archieWe’re all meeting tonight at Jughead’s for our final rehearsal before we play at the Riverdale Fall Festival. I usually don’t get nervous, but I kinda am this time. I don’t know why. Maybe because the audience is gonna be HUGE… Maybe it’s because we’re playing for the “home crowd”, which is always tougher than playing on the road.

Or maybe because we’re doing 4 new songs. You never know what can go wrong when you play new material for the first time in public. They might hate it; if that’s the case they’ll just clap politely. You don’t know how bad that sounds when you’re on stage.

Betty says I worry too much. Maybe she’s right. I just want everything to go well. Wish us luck!

Great Weekend

archieThis was the best Fall Festival ever! Not just because we played (but I do hope that helped) it was just a lot of FUN.

The whole town came together to pull this off and I’m glad The Archies were part of it.

I read about Patty’s big Halloween contest… sounds like a blast!!! I also just heard Ronnie is having a big costume party Halloween night. I wonder what I’m going to be this year. I don’t have a clue.

Guess I better get my costume ready. Hey, if you have any suggestions, LMK, okay?

Halloween Candy Everywhere

JugheadThis has got to be one of my favorite times of the year. I mean, my Mom actually buys candy by the bag and leaves it laying around. She always buys our Halloween candy early because she’s afraid all the good stuff will be gone.

And every year, on the day before Halloween, she has to go buy a bunch more because the first batch is almost gone. Hmmm… I wonder where it went?

Time to Call the Ghost Hunters

jugSome weird stuff’s been goin’ on around here. You know me – I am pretty level-headed, so when I tell you something’s weird, you know it must be true. So what’s up? I’ll tell ya –

Pop’s is haunted!

That’s just the way it is. I’ve done some research, and I think it’s a poltergeist. They’re supposed to be the jokester of the spirit world. (Just what Riverdale needs - another Reggie!)

This is what happened: Last night at Pop’s, I was there with the whole gang. Archie and I were eating burgers. Betty, Ronnie and Ethel were having a heated conversation about their cell phones. Reggie was at the bar drinking a shake and watching TV.

That’s when the ghost started acting up. Pop was making shakes and the TV went off. Then it went on again, then off and on real fast, then changing channels, getting louder, then mute… ON ITS OWN!!

I’m telling you it was almost scary. If it wasn’t for my burger and fries I might have left. If anything else happens, I’ll let you know. Stay tuned…

Pop Needs a New TV

archie I’m weighing in on this ghost thing. I was at Pop’s earlier this week with the gang when Pop’s TV went berserk. I saw it. Every time he made a shake or malt the TV went nutty. I think it sounds like an electrical problem. (That’s the first thing those Ghost Hunter guys would check, by the way.)

Jug is pretty sure it’s a poltergeist. But I don’t know…

I’m going with electrical problem.

New Use for Flour

jugheadThanks to Dilton, we found a new use for flour this week. Man, that Dilton’s slick. I’ve heard he has a kick costume for Ronnie’s Halloween Party. Can’t wait to see what he comes as.

As for me, well Gaston gave me one of his old stained chef outfits, hat and all. I cut some holes in it and used a lot of dark red dye and Betty is helping me with makeup.

I’m going to be a Chef Zombie… COOL HUH?

Halloween Costume Party

archieI was hoping to have the best costume this year… I’m going as a space pirate, with lazar sword and all…

But I’ve heard through the grapevine that Reggie’s costume is The Best!

So no use worrying about it. I’m just going to go and HAVE A BLAST!!!!

I've also seen a lot of costumes from you guys. Patty gave us a sneak preview yesterday. :) You’re all WAY TOO MUCH FUN!

It’s going to be so cool to get a picture drawn with one of our fans.

Reg Found Out About the Flour

jugHe’s pretty sure Dilton did it, so I may fess up and take the heat off Dilton, just to make things interesting. Am I worried about Dilton? No way! Dilton can hold his own.

I mean, come on, Dilton’s intellect against Reggie’s… well whatever Reggie has.

No contest, Dilton all the way… So if Reggie plans on getting even, he’ll just be digging himself in deeper.

C U guys later. Last minute costume details to tend to.

Halloween Costume Party II

Well, tonight is the BIG HALLOWEEN PARTY. Can’t wait! This will be the first time in months where I can dance TO the music instead of MAKING the music with The Archies. LOL Ronnie hired this great DJ that’s a friend of Josie’s.

My costume is pretty cool. I know it won’t be the best there but…

NO MASK: So I can eat and drink with no problem.

Comfortable: So I can dance.

DASHING: I will look cool.

My thing, I’m going to have a good time!!!

So, what are YOU going to be tonight? Remember to send your picture to Patty!
