Back to School – Party at the Pool

archieHi gang.

Just got a call from Ronnie. She’s throwing a back-to-school pool party Sunday. With Monday a holiday and school starting Tuesday, this will be our last big bash of the summer.

I know it will be a blast, Ronnie’s parties always are.

But the best part… It’s going to give me the perfect opportunity to ask Ronnie to the school dance. Oh Yeah!!!

I guess I'll check with Betty tomorrow morning while we're running and see if she wants to go over to Ronnie’s Party with Jug and me.

Wow!!! What a great way to end the summer and start the school year.

POOL PARTY AND GASTON IS COOKING :)

JugHi There

This is too great!!!!

Ronnie called to let me know about her back to school pool party. But the best part is… I get yet another awesome meal from GASTON.

I’m not sure if I have many heroes, but I know I have at least two:

Gaston and Pop Tate!

When, or if, I ever grow up (hope I don’t) I want to be a cross between those two. They both sure know how to COOK!

Can’t wait for the party.

Pool Party Kaput

 jugheadJug Here.

I guess you all heard what happened at Ronnie’s pool party. Maybe one of these days Archie will listen to me (but probably not).

I think I may be the only one who had a great time.

I know Ronnie fell in – BUT IT WAS A POOL PARTY - aren’t you suppose to get wet? I guess it was just the WAY she got there.

After that, everyone had to go… everyone but me, that is. I stayed behind to help Gaston clean up and did I score some great goodies to take home!

Oh well, I guess in everyone’s life a little rain must fall, (but I guess not a whole pool full). Sorry Ronnie.

Juggy

I’m Sorry – I’m Sorry – I’m Sorry

archieI KNOW!!! I really messed up this time.

To start, I never got the hints from Betty on the dance. Thank you all for trying to help me with that.

Then I let Reggie get to me and made a world class fool of myself (AGAIN) Jug was so right.

I shoved Ron into the pool then fell on her (gosh she looked great, you know before she got all wet and everything).

I ruined the pool party for everyone.

And now it’s a 50-50 split on who’s just mad and me and those who truly hate me.

I ask all of you out there to please forgive me and I promise to make this right.

But I need your HELP!!!!

What can I do to fix this with Everyone?

I Hope I’m Still Your Pal

I’ve Got It… thanks for all the help

 archieHi Gang

Betty and I made up… but I know from reading all your comments that making up isn’t good enough. I need to do something special for Betty, probably for EVERYONE.

AND I’VE COME UP WITH A GREAT IDEA!!!

First I need to make up with Ronnie. That’s going to be tough but I know I can do it.

I know what you’re all thinking. “What about Betty?” And you’re right. But this IS about Betty, and Reggie, and Jug… as a matter of fact, the whole Gang.

This will be a blast.

But first I have to get Ronnie’s help. And to do that I have to make sure she’s not mad at me anymore.

So wish me luck.

Talked to Archie Today

 jugJughead here

Archie apologized to me at lunch today. (FYI: It was not a stellar lunch - Salisbury steak day. ? Ms. Beazly could use some lessons from Gaston.) Back to Arch: I told him, “Arch I was never mad at ya.”

I mean, he’s been my best friend for years. So a little pool party gone awry because of his dunderheadedness over two girls (even though they’re my friends too) would never drive us apart.

He was very happy about that.

Then he asked me for a favor. When he explained what he wanted to do to make up for Ronnie’s party I said, Sure.”

This is going to be so cool… I can hardly believe Archie came up with it.

School – Running – The Big Surprise

 archie Hi Gang

School has been a lot better this week then than last. I’m so happy that everyone is not mad at me any more. I’ve apologized to everyone who was at the party and to Gaston for the great cuisine that no one got to eat. He told me not to fret; not a morsel was wasted. (Not sure what he meant by that.)

Betty and I are getting ready for the first big meet this Saturday morning at Springdale. It’s so good to be running with her again.

While we’ve been running, we’ve also been brainstorming about the Big Surprise for this Saturday night. I can hardly believe that Reg, Ronnie, Jug and Betty are all doing this… especially Ronnie. Without her help this would not have worked. Can’t wait.

My favorite Class

 JugCall me Jughead, the Chef

Our school offered Gourmet Cooking this year. It’s my favorite class ever. We get to eat what we cook. Now for some of my classmates, that’s not a lot of fun. But I have to say that all the work I did this summer with Pop Tate and Gaston sure paid off.

I’m the apple of my teacher’s eye. :)

I’m going to go by and talk to Gaston after school and see if he will make a quest appearance in our class next week.

Big Weekend for RHS

 archieHi Gang!

Tonight is our first football game of the season, and is it gonna be GOOD! It’s a home game against Springdale. Moose is real nervous and I think Reg is too, but not much gets past that cool exterior of his.

Tomorrow morning at 9:00am is the Cross Country Meet at Midvale. Nine schools are competing. Betty and I are both anxious. I think the guys’ team has a shot at first place. None of us are the fastest, but we run well together as a team. Betty is a different story: she could win the girls’ race. She may be the best cross country runner Riverdale has ever had.

WISH US ALL LUCK!!!!!

Then tomorrow night is when my plan all comes together. I’m talking about the Big Surprise. It’s going to be a blast.

Archie

Fall + Sports + Food = Fun

jug The big game is tonight. It may the very first time we get to see Moose protecting Reggie. (Well we’ll see, won’t we…)

This is also the night the Riverdale High concession stand opens for the season! There’s nothing like watching the game while you’re chowing down on a foot long, nachos, and popcorn. I heard the Riverdale Fire Department is bringing their portable grill to the game. You know what that means? Brats and burgers hot off the grill! Now that’s football.

Tomorrow, Betty and Archie both run. Good thing they’re my friends or else I would never get up that early on a Saturday. They have a concession stand too, but it’s nothing like football. I think they sell bottled water and energy bars. Oh well.

And then Saturday night… Ha, thought I was going to tell you?

Got to Go

First Football Game – First Cross Country Meet

 archie Hey Gang

What a great game!!! Springdale was tough, but not tough enough. The whole game was back and forth, but the last quarter, on the last play of the game (we were down 39–44 with seconds to go) Moose made a GREAT block. Then Reggie ran 45 yards for a touch down!

We came back to win 45-44.

Hats off and Cheers to OUR Team – GREAT JOB!

The Cross Country meet was just a tad lack luster.

But Betty was awesome!!!!! She came is FIRST and broke the course time for girls!!!! The girls’ team came in second behind Ridgedale.

The guys had a pretty good team run. I was in the top five, but our team came in third behind Ridgedale and Midvale.

All in all, it was a good day.

My Secret

archieHi Gang

I guess you’ve all heard by now My Big Secret WAS…

The Archies got back together and played at the Back-to-School Dance.

I didn’t want to say anything until we pulled it off. I sure didn’t want to get anyone’s hopes up and then have it fall apart like it did this summer.

I have the best, most talented friends in the WORLD!!!!!

They were terrific. No one - and I mean NO ONE - can beat those drums like Jughead. He was the Heart of the band.

Ronnie’s Dad is going to have to get her another new keyboard, because she sure played life right out of her new brand new one (she’s only had it 2 weeks!) I’ve never heard Ronnie sound so good.

Reggie was the biggest surprise; Mr. Humble made us all shine. He did three solos, including the song he won the talent contest with at the fair. There wasn’t a girl on the dance floor who wasn’t going GAA GAA over him. I think he ended up getting six dates that night.

If Jughead was the heart of our band, Betty was the Soul. Her voice was magic. When she sang, I had to remind myself I was part of the band. All I wanted to do was listen to her sing.

Wish you could have been there.

The Stuff of Legends

jugJughead here.

This was the best dance I’ve ever been to – it’ll most likely go down in the RHS history books as “legendary.”

  1. First off, Ronnie had Gaston help with the refreshments. WOW - It sure beat warm punch and candy mints!

  1. I got to sit in one spot and not run all over the place to avoid that certain someone. ;)

  1. I did one of my most favorite things, (outside of eating) - play the drums with my friends.

Thanks, Archie for pulling this together. Sometimes you wax brilliant.

Okay, I’ll Explain

jug Seems I threw you a curveball yesterday with the term “wax brilliant” so let me explain. Pull up a chair. I learned the term “to wax” in Ms. Grundy’s poetry class, (which would shock her because she thought I was asleep.)

The word “wax” in this case means “to grow or become.” Old poets and ancient song writers used it a lot long long ago… before there were computers and cell phones and French fries.

So, what I was saying in my post is that sometimes Arch is realllllllllllllly SMART! That’s your lesson for today – thanks to Ms Grundy. Don’t tell her you learned it from me; it would ruin my image.

Dilton’s Birthday

archieHi Gang

Jughead and I planned a surprise for Dilton’s birthday… which is no small feat. I mean, first off we have to keep our plan from him… and he’s a genius. Trying to keep a secret from Dilton is like telling Ronnie not to shop (which she has been doing a lot of lately. Something about a new wardrobe for the band.)

Anyway, back to Dilton: What do you get a guy who can make anything - and I mean ANYTHING he wants?! Did I mention he is a genius?

It took Juggy and me most of the week to pull our Secret Plan for Dilton’s Birthday together… BUT WE DID!!!

Can’t post more about it here, because I know Dilton would see it. I told you this guy is a genius, right?

Phone’s ringing. Cool, it’s Sabrina. Gotta go.

Dilton Was Flabbergasted!!! That’s a good thing

JugJughead here.

Last week Archie told Betty that he had Dilton’s Birthday covered… then came to me with absolutely NO idea what to do.

He said, “Juggy, ya got to bail me out of this one…” Yet Again!

But that’s cool. I knew just what to do.

Many of you don’t know this, but Dilton and I are in a lot of classes together; we’ve worked on a few of projects together, too.

I’ve known for a long time that Dilton has a crush on Sabrina. But she’s all magic and he’s all science and never the two shall meet… At least, that’s what he thought.

He’s been going on for days about the new Planetarium opening next week in Greendale. So, I called Sabrina. She knew all about the Planetarium; seems she knows the owner! So Arch and I went over to see her after school and we told her about Dilton’s birthday. We asked her if she’d like to go to dinner with him. She said, “I’d LOVE to!” (seems she really likes those intellectual types.) AND I’ll talk to my friend and arrange a private, pre-grand opening tour of the Planetarium!”

So, last night, Archie, Betty and I sent Dilton to Greendale with instructions to meet “a friend” at the new Cosmic Bistro, right next door to the planetarium. (We didn’t tell him it was Sabrina he was meeting OR that she was taking him to see the Planetarium. That was a surprise.)

I bet it was an interesting night. Between Dilton’s inventions and Sabrina’s magic you know things had to get a little crazy.

By the way Archie, Betty, and I sprung for the dinner.

C YA around

I’m Head of My Class… if you tell anyone I’ll deny it

JugJughead here.

It’s official. I’m now head of my class in Gourmet Cooking. Gaston came as my guest and helped with Monday’s class.

The teacher loved him. Gaston showed us how to do a simple dark chocolate mousse with real dark chocolate. You can put it on almost any dessert or eat it as a stand alone.

It was amazing. Outside of his mousse, mine was rated the best in the class… by the class.

The teacher told me that after today’s success, my average is now 112%. How cool is that?

Well, got a go. I need to rest up for tomorrow; we’re doing a veggie and cream cheese soufflé.

September School Days

archieHi Gang

Is it just me?

School has been in almost a month now, and I guess the new has worn off. Now I’m just getting up early, running, going to school, running, doing homework, going to bed, getting up early, and on and on.

I mean, I love going to Riverdale High – being with all my friends, the teachers, the coaches and everything - but now I just feel like I’m putting in my time till the weekend.

Saturday should be exciting. We have a Cross Country meet that morning. Then late that afternoon Ronnie and Betty have the Archies playing at a charitable event. Don’t know much about it, except Ronnie bought us all matching sweaters with dogs on them.

I would love to tell you all more but I have homework, then my bed waiting.

But please let me know if I’m the only one working for the weekends.

Your Pal
